Hephaistion looked deeply into Alexander’s eyes and saw that he truly wanted another child, “Okay Alexander. I’ll stay behind once again.”
Alexander smiled and kissed Hephaistion passionately on the lips, “I love you for this Hephaistion.”
Alexander then led Hephaistion to the bed where they slept peacefully.
The next morning Hephaistion awoke alone in the bed, ‘He must be making last minute preparations to leave tomorrow,’ he thought to himself.
Hephaistion went to Teodor’s crib and prepared him to go outside into the gardens for his usual day of play.

After a frustrating last minute meeting with his generals, Alexander went to seek consul with his mother.
“Will you impregnate him tonight Alexander?”
“Yes mother I will, he agreed to have another child.”
“You should have just done it, you shouldn’t have asked him.”
“Mother, now that Hephaistion is back to normal, I don’t want to do anything that will make our relationship suffer.”
“Fine Alexander, do it your way.”
“I didn’t come for this mother, I came to seek your advice on the up coming war.”
“The gods favor you Alexander, just offer them the usual sacrifice when needed and you’ll be fine.”
“Yes, I have one prepared for when I leave.”
“Good. So, do you trust me enough to take care of Hephaistion when you leave?”
“I have no one else to trust besides you and Hephaistion.”
“No, you can only trust me Alexander, I am your mother, and everything I do is for your own good.”
“Mother not now. Just take good care of Hephaistion when I’m gone and I’ll return as soon as possible.”
“I will take excellent care of him, don’t you worry!”
“You better,” Alexander said before shutting the door behind him.

Night fell and Hephaistion put Teodor to sleep in his crib and lay down next to Alexander who was looking over maps that he had his scouts make when they inspected the land.
“Tonight is the night,” Hephaistion questioned while looking nowhere in particular.
Alexander put his maps down and went to get a glass of wine for Hephaistion and himself.
“So how does it work? As far as I’m concerned I am all male, save for these two lingering breasts.”
Alexander took a gulp of his wine, “When the sun brings its first light to the day, that is when your body full adjusts for you to take my child.”
Hephaistion took a sip of his wine, “How does my body adjust?”
Alexander took another gulp, “You become female temporarily.”
Hephaistion chugged down the rest of his wine, “That’s a surprise.”
Alexander filled their cups once again, “You won’t be awake.”
“What?”
“You’ll be passing out soon, your body needs all the energy it can take to adjust.”
Hephaistion’s last word was, “Great,” then he fell into a deep slumber.
Alexander stood back and watched slowly as his body transformed occasionally looking at the position of the moon.
