Chapter 35- Mr Incredible’s true power.

Bob raced deep into the war zone of the city. He was pushing the incredimobile to it’s limits, all the warning dials were in the red but he wouldn’t slow down for a second.

He rounded the corner and there they were, more than thirty men, all armed with something. Bob didn’t stop but pressed a switch on the dashboard. A panel opened up, revealing a small screen and a panel of buttons. He flicked one labelled Auto Pilot and glared at the mob in front of him. “I wish it didn’t have to come to this.” He said with a sigh. He reached down and pushed a small red button in the centre of the computer panel. Eject.

Bob gripped the sides of his seat as the roof of his car burst open and he flew upwards into the sky. He watched his precious car speed on down the street and ran into more than a dozen people were rammed off their feet and the others managed to jump out of the way. The car continued speeding onward down the street until it crashed into a building. It exploded in a ball of flames the second it hit the bricks.

Bob’s seat floated gently to the ground by a parachute, he was already fiddling with the seatbelt, trying to free himself so he could get to the fight sooner. The convicts were already getting to their feet and re-arming themselves with the weapons they had dropped.

Bob leapt free from his chair and landed onto the road. Three criminals rushed forward, with one swipe of his arm he sent them flying backward through the air. One guy jumped on his and wrapped his arms around his neck tightly. Bob threw him off with ease into four other guys making their way at him. They toppled like bowling pins. When they landed, they stayed down.

Above the noise of the rioting convicts came a deep and thunderous roar. It was primal, like some ancient beast and sent a chill down the spines of even the most hardened convicts in the group. Bob looked to the source of the noise and saw his old enemy; Omega. He clenched his fists and glared at Bob who returned the look with just as much anger. This thing had beat him once, he was not going to let it happen again.

The criminals could see that something was going to go down between these two people and decided to take their fun elsewhere. Once Omega had taken out Mr Incredible taking this city would be made one step easier.

Omega ran at Bob and Mr Incredible raced at his enemy. The two growled angrily as they drew closer and closer. Both of them swiped out a fist at the same time but Omega’s connected first. Bob saw blackness and stars swimming in front of his eyes as he flew backwards, launched off his feet by the force of Omega’s punch. Eight feet later he crashed onto the ground and rolled for another six feet before coming to a stop. Omega carried on running and kicked Bob in the ribs and flew off the ground and cried out, feeling fire burn through his torso. Some ribs had probably shattered. Edna’s suit was bullet proof and yet he had sustained an injury from Omega’s kick.

Bob landed on a car the metal framework of the machine crumpled around him. Trapping him in place. Bob grunted and strained, the metal was bending under his strength, but he wouldn’t be free in time. Omega drew ever closer, his fists clenched and a wild looked was in his eyes. This was going to be his killing blow.

“No you don’t” Cried a voice from above. Bob and Omega looked to the source of the noise and got the shock of their lives. Syndrome was flying overhead, rockets in his metallic feet. He circled once and dived down to the ground, landing between Bob and Omega. He raised a robotic arm and his metal hand flipped back, revealing a gun barrel built into his wrist. There was an ear splitting explosion as a small black missile shot out and exploded against Omega’s chest. Omega grunted and took a step back, but seemed unhurt. Syndrome pressed some unseen button on the metal arm and the missiles were switched for bullets, he fired more than a dozen rounds in just a few seconds, but all of them bounced harmlessly off of Omega’s armour.

Bob twisted and fought and pulled himself free from the car and stared at Syndrome. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“You needed all the help you can get.” Syndrome said smugly. “the captain was good enough to let me out of my cell.”
“and where did you get those weapons?”
“I always had them.” He said again. “I just needed a few tools to get them working properly.”

Omega charged again Bob jumped out of the way and Syndrome flew upwards. Omega charged into the car that had held Bob a second ago and the machine shattered around him to nothing.

From the sky Syndrome fired another round of bullets but they still just ricocheted off Omega’s armour. Bob raced forward and swiped at Omega. Omega staggered as he took the blow and punched Bob in the chest. Bob grunted and groaned as he went flying backwards.

Syndrome sent three more tiny missiles down at Omega. Omega stepped back under the force of the blasts but wasn’t hurt. Syndrome dropped the hand on his right arm and clicked at a series of hidden buttons on his left arm. “Let’s see how you handle my left hook.” he dived down, firing his rockets at full burn. He shot downward like a bullet and hit Omega square in the chest. Omega roared in agony as powerful lightning bolts fired out of Zero-one’s left fist and travelled all across his metal-covered body.

Omega was knocked off his feet by the power of Syndrome’s blow. Syndrome was sent rolling, he cut the rockets off his boots too late. He crashed onto the solid road and groaned loudly, feeling pain in his ribs from the rough landing.

Omega was in agony but recovered quickly and climbed slowly to his feet. Bob was ignored his eye was on Syndrome now. Syndrome was climbing to his feet when Omega started to charge. He switched on his rockets too late, he was barely a foot from the ground when Omega’s powerful fist hit his chest. Syndrome yelled in agony and was sent flying into a building. He crashed through the wall and piles of masonry fell on top of him. Omega laughed in his deep electronic voice.

“Hey.” Bob’s voice shouted. Omega turned and Bob’s fist whacked his chin. Omega was knocked off his feet and flew backwards for six feet. As he crashed down the road cracked beneath him. Bob glared at him and approached slowly. “You might be tough, but you’re nothing compared to me.” He clenched his fists and cracked his knuckles. “I feel as if I live in a world made of cardboard. I always have to take constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control, even for a second, or someone could die.”
Omega got to his feet and swung his powerful fist at Bob. Bob caught it in his hand and slammed another blow onto Omega’s chin, knocking him off his feet and backwards eight feet. He slammed roughly into the ground. Bob glared at him. “Only you can take it can’t you big guy? So what we have here is a golden opportunity for me to cut loose and see just how powerful I really am. So come on metal-head, it’s show time.”

Bob took a quick deep breath and kicked off the floor, the asphalt cracked as he launched himself. He almost looked like he was flying at Omega. Omega steeled himself, how hard could this guy really hit? He had knocked him down once and he would do it again. Mr Incredible did not live up to his name.

Bob growled as he swung his fist with all the force he could muster into a powerful uppercut. Omega was so stunned he couldn’t even cry out. A massive shockwave like an explosion rippled out and Bob’s suit tore at the seems a little. He felt pain in his fist, right up his arm but ignored it. Omega was launched into the air flying like a rocket above the buildings. Bob squatted down and tensed up his body. Concentrating all of his strength into his legs, he kicked himself up from the ground. The asphalt shattered beneath him as he launched himself into the air.

Omega was spinning wildly, he couldn’t make sense of what he was seeing. Bob was flying toward him at a phenomenal speed. Mr Incredible clenched his fists together and pulled his arms back. He whacked omega across the chest and the powerful armour actually dented with a hole the size of a football. Omega shot to the ground like a meteor away from Bob. The air vibrated with a noise like a thunderclap. Bob started to fall, he aimed for a building, hoping to land on the rooftop. He might have been Mr Incredible but even he couldn’t survive the fall back to the ground.

Omega crashed into the solid road and the asphalt exploded around him and thick plumes of smoke rose up into the air. Bob landed down onto a roof of a building. The roof cracked but it didn’t cave in, something he was very grateful for. He raced for a door, he had to get down to street level.

On the street was a massive crater, over ten feet deep and four times wide. Electricity cables sparked and water pipes poured their sewerage down into the hole. Omega lay at the bottom of the crater, his limbs twitched randomly and his chest plate had shattered, exposing his mechanical body parts. They sparked as water leaked into them. There was a small blue light in the centre of his chest, where his heart would be if he still had one. The light flickered and dulled. Omega groaned, his voice sounded like the batteries were dying on a walkman.

Bob looked down at the mechanical man. He had no idea that he had such a powerful punch.
“Syndrome.” He turned and raced back the battle ground and back to where Syndrome had fallen.

He had been half buried under the rubble. His face was bleeding from a deep cut on his forehead and his nose was broken. Bob took the man by the shoulders and lifted him from the rubble. He coughed and opened his eyes and looked at Bob. “Did we win?” He said breathlessly.
“We won.” Bob said reassuringly. Syndrome smiled, a couple of his teeth were missing and his mouth was full of blood.
“We did it.” He said with a cough. Some blood came out of his mouth and ran down his chin.
“I wouldn’t have made it without you. He would have finished me when I was trapped. You…You’re a hero.”
“A true hero.” Syndrome said weakly. “At last.”

His eyes flickered closed and he fell limply in Bob’s arms. Bob continued to hold him tight for several more minutes. The poor boy. All he had ever wanted to do was help people. It had taken him to the very depths of madness and back again all in the name of being a hero. He had found his way in the end. But it was so heartbreaking that the cost for him had been so high.
