It was the rum.
That’s what he would tell her. That’s what they’d both make themselves believe. And, unbeknownst to Jack, that’s what would lead her to burn it all in an effort to hasten their rescue.
And hasten it she did. The white sails were visible on the horizon almost directly afterward, and as the two were hauled aboard, an English lady and a rogue pirate captain, they left behind more than just an island. More than just a spit of land. They left behind the memory of that night…or so they thought. For that very night would haunt them both for years to come. And still, they chose to believe what their hearts so vehemently rejected.
It was the rum.
Huh. Rum, indeed.

*whew*
Alright. Well, that's all I have right now, but I'm planning on writing more. Jack and Elizabeth demand it. *sticks tongue out them* Nah, just kidding, I love 'em both to death. Anyway, will be posting more as soon as I can! I'd appreciate it very much if you'd take the time out to review. Thanks :)
Cheers,
Cami
