Okay, now on with the new chapter *finally*

----

The next day Jack awoke late. It was almost half past nine, and he would
have to board the ship at ten. He got up hurriedly and realized Will was
gone.

Frowning,Jack imagined the boy had just left to go to the bathroom or
something, but when he looked for Will, the boy wasn't there either.

Jack changed and started running down the stairs of the inn. He had to
find Will immeadiately or they would miss the ship's departure.

Jack found himself on the hall of the inn, where he found the innkeeper.
Jack asked:
"Excuse me,have you seen William Turner?"

The innkeeper frowned. "No. Not that I remember. Wait just a minute," he
went to call one of the maids. The innkeeper would recognize Jack or Will
immediately because Norrington had told him everything that had happened
with them. The man had took pity on them and taken them in at the inn.

The maid who worked on the floor Will and Jack had slept passed by,and
the innkeper asked her about Will.

"I saw him." The woman said. "It was last night. He left the room he was
in and headed downstairs. I didn't see him come back before 1 AM,that was
when I left to sleep."

"No,it's not possible." Jack was starting to panic. What if the rapist
had found Will again and kidnapped him or something? "Are you sure, miss,
that it was /him/ that left at night? We went to sleep at ten."

"I'm almost sure. I know him. I used to live on his neighborhood when
I was younger. He left by eleven or something."

Jack shook his head. "No...it's not possible...why Will would have left
the room?"

The innkeeper and the maid looked at him,not knowing what to say. The poor
pirate seemed desolated.

"Calm down, sir." The innkeeper asked. "I'm going to ask more servants.
One of them must have talked to Mr. Turner." He turned to Sarah, the maid:
"Take him to the living room. Can you wait,Mr. Sparrow?"

"Not really. I was supposed to leave at ten,but I'm not leaving the town
without Will."

The innkeeper nodded. Jack was taken to the living room and served by the
maid. He swallowed his drink, but nothing could take his mind off of Will.
He was terribly worried. 'Why did he leave the room, dammit? He knew the
damned rapist was out there!'

And Jack started to wonder about the rapist...yes...he knew the man...he
just couldn't believe he would really harm Will...it wasn't possible...
it couldn't be true...but it seemed it /was/ true and,that way,Will's
life was in danger.

After some hours,Will hadn't been back and Jack was crazy with worry.
He couldn't leave to Tortuga. Not without the man he loved. And he really
/loved/ Will. He was sure of that. And he had made it clear to Will. Just
before they slept the previous night,Jack had told Will he'd been in love
with him for a long time. Since their first meeting, probably.

The innkeeper and the maids didn't have any more informations about Will.
Some had seen him leave, some had even talked to him,but the lad hadn't
told them anything about where he was going or what time he would be back
to the inn.

Or if he /would/ be back at all. Jack just thanked them and went back to
his room. It took three days for him to realize Will wouldn't come back.
So,Jack finally left to Tortuga, but his heart was heavy and his kohl-lined
eyes were swollen.
-----
The night Will left the inn:

Will awoke with a start just after he and Jack had fallen intumbeumber.
He rubbed his eyes and sat on the bed. His mind was racing. Will went to
the bathroom, washed his face. He looked at himself on the mirror and
found himself ugly. Unworthy of Jack, that was for sure.

He was dirty. He was longing to be in any place where no one knew him.
Where no one knew what had happened to him. Maybe he could heal. Maybe
not. But he couldn't stand those looks of pity anymore. Jack himself
wore them, and Will didn't believe a word he said. Jack had said he was
in love with Will since the day they met. But Will was tempted to believe
Jack just pitied him. That was why he had kissed Will, and that they
seemed to be together.

Yet Will appreciated the comfort Jack undoubtedly gave him. And he cared
about Jack. He didn't want him to be hung or imprisioned. He wanted Jack
alive and well. The pirate could go back to Tortuga to live his pirate's
life and Will was sure Jack would forget him in time.

With tears rolling by his cheeks,Will came to the decision he thought
would be the best for them both. He would leave at night. He had heard
about another pirates' island_not Tortuga_and would go there to see if
he found anyone who was both a pirate_and_a good man. Preferably, someone
who knew his father as well. It would be easier to barter a place on
a pirate ship if the Captain knew Will was the son of a good pirate,Will
thought.

So,Will left the inn at night. It wasn't that difficult to find a ship
because he was willio goo go anywhere at first. Then he would look for
the island he'd heard Jack talking about.

The first days were like hell for Will. Every once in a while he felt
guilty for leaving Jack like that, with not even a note. He was still depressed
about the rapes and often someone on the passenger ship caught him crying.
An old woman had taken pity on him and talked to Will everyday, which the
boy appreciated dearly. And,as the days passed,Will felt himself growing
surer about his decision.

He had to leave. He couldn't go on with Jack,he was sure of that now. He
felt ashamed, weak and hurt. Jack /knew/ what had happened to him. And
though the pirate was nothing but caring,Will didn't want /anyone/ to
know what had happened to him. Maybe this way he could bury the happenings
in a darkened part of his mind and even forget it someday.

After about a week,Will found himself in his destination. An islandt
wt
wasn't very different from Tortuga. Will felt a little afraid to be alone
with a bunch of pirates and couldn't stop remembering the rapes, but wore
his best face of a strong man, even when he was trembling inside.

Will settled himself at an inn,in which he bartered to work to pay for
his room and food. He worked as a blacksmith to the innkeeper and other
customers. Will had never worked that much as those first days. He remembered
going to sleep with his hands burning. But anything was better than
what he had suffered. And as nobody asked questions about his past,Will
even tried to make new friends and go out sometimes, while he looked for
the pirate ship in which he would leave.

After several weeks,Will seemed to find what he was looking for. He had
watched. Before /this/ ship,no other pirates seemed to be trustful. They
seemed to be really evil and though some knew Bootstrap,it seemed to Will
they found his father was weak for not agreeing with Jack's marooning.
They seemed to think Bootstrap had to join with Barbossa and avoid being
killed and they thought, also, that Jack Sparrow was but a coward who was afraid
to kill and masked it in a tactful manner. Needless to say,Will left
without saying a word and didn't join any of these pirate ships.

He thought Jacs a s a good man. A good man and a good pirate. And he
missed him, more than he had imagined he would. Will thought about Jack
all the time. Three months had passed, and still Will thought about the
few kisses he and Jack shared. He couldn't help the tears in his eyes.
But he needed to stay alone and see if he would heal. He hoped Jack had
understood him. And that he could forgive him.

The night he saw the ship and the Captain who seemed to be a good man,
Will went quickly talk to him. Somehow,Will wanted to leave. He didn't
want to stay in a place for too long and start growing attached to people.
He didn't want anyone to feel close enough to him to ask about his past.
Because he didn't want to talk about the past. What did he have to tell?
Two rapes,a broken heart because his ex-fiancée couldn't stand to know
he had been raped, and someone who he could really grow to love but had
left behind because he was afraid.
Not to tell about his parents' death and all those years of hard work and
no recognization in Port Royal. No,Will prefered to have no past at all
than having all of that.

Will approached the ship docked at the port. Some men of the crew were
on the docks and Will said:
"Excuse me. May I talk to your Captain?"

"Who be you,lad?"

"I'm..." Will's voice trembled a bit. "Well,I'm willing to barter a place
on a pirate ship and..."

"Alright." The man cut him off. "I'm calling the Captain. Though, son,I
don't think there's a place for ye here."

Will just nodded. This man's word meant nothing to him. He would have to
talk to the Captain and see if there wasn't really a place to him. After
all, only a few ships had blacksmiths and Will knew that by now.

Soon the Captain showed up and invited Will to his cabin. Will followed
the man's lead. He was a tall strong man,who didn't seem to be really
evil. Actually, his smile reminded Will of Jack.
"So,what do ye want with me,lad?" The Captain spoke while closing the door.

"I'm sorry to bother you,Captain. I was wondering if you knew Bootstrap
Bill Turner?"

The man eyed Will from head to toe and asked him to sit down. Will sat
on the chair next to the Captain's bunk, and the man finally spoke:
"Allow me to introduce myself, lad. I'm Captain John Tyler. What be yer
name?"

"Will Turner," he offered his hand. "I'm the son of Bootstrap Bill Turner."

"So ye want to know about yer father, right?"

"Well," Will spoke,a bit unsurely. "yes. Did you know him?"

"I did. He was a good respectable pirate."

Will liked that answer. "What about Jack Sparrow?"

"Jack?" John asked curiously. "Do ye know him?"

Will couldn't fight the smile on his face. "Yes."

"You seem to be close." John said.

"Not anymore." Will's fbecabecame sad,and he talked again. "Do ye know
him,then?"

"He's a friend of mine." John said. "Actually,I've just met him."

Will's heart started beating faster and faster. "Where did you meet him?"

"In Tortuga. A few days ago."

"And...what do you think of him?"

"Well,Jack...Jack is Jack...it's just that. Eccentric,weird but a good
man too. See lad,few pirates worry about his crew, for instance. Most of
them really keep to the Code and follow the "Any man who falls behind
is left behind." Jack is one of the few who doesn't do it. So,he's a good
man in my opinion. Though,it could have cost his life. Anyway I do the
same, lad. I worry about me crew."

Will smiled. He really liked this Captain John Tyler.
"So,Captain. Actually,I /didn't/ come to talk to you because I wanted to
know about my father. I'm willing to offer my services in your pirate
ship. I'm a blacksmith. If you let me,I will be loyal to you. Pirate's
honor."

John looked at Will for a while, and then said:
"Just how close you were to Jack?"

Hell...John was asking about his past. But Will knew he had to answer.
If he didn't barter his place on this ship, maybe he wouldn't find another
good pirate.
Will answered:
"Well...we were friends...he helped save my fiancé from Barbossa's hands."

"So you knew that scum of a man."

"Unfortunately." Will replied.

"And now you're married to yer girl."

Another question about hist. Wt. Will's heart was beating fast. But he
answered again:
"No,sir. We broke up."

"Will..." John said. "I'm sorry to say that, but Jack's told me anything
about you. I'm just asking because I wanted to know if it was true. Can't
have a liar among me crew,ye know. So,I need to ask personal questions.
I'm sorry."

Will was dumbstruck.
"Why would Jack tell you about me?"

"Because I'm one of his only friends. And he trusts me. He's missing you
really deeply."

Will's heart was in his throat again. A tear fell down by his cheek.
"Please...you have to promise not to tell him where I am...please..."

John eyed him with sympathy. "No,son. I won't tell him. Pirate's honor.
It's your decision, lad. I just had to tell ye Jack misses ye because I'm
his friend and I worry about him."

Will just nodded. His heart was beating fast, and his mind was racing. He
had managed to bury his past, dammit! And now this man was making him
spill it out again. It seemed to be much high a price to be part of his
crew.

Will wondered if he really had managed to bury his past...it seemed he
hadn't...so,Will realized something. He finally looked at John again:
"So you know what happened to me...Jack must've told ye,as well."

"He told me you were hurt."

Will shook his head. "Why does Jack tell about my life to a complete
stranger?" Will almost cried, unaware of anything else. He was just very
irritated.

"Calm down, lad." John said. "Can't have ye screaming in me quarters.
Look,son...I don't know if I'm the person to tell ye that. But Jack loves
ye..."

"He doesn't,Captain. He just pities me." Will answered nonchalantly.

"No. I'm sure it's not only that. Never seen him /cry/ because onyonnyone. Usually,it's the other way around."

Will looked at John sadly: "He cried because of me?"

"Aye,he did. But he understands you. It seemed to me he understands why
you left. He was worried becathe the rapist...well..."

"Because the rapist what?" Will glared at John. "You better tell me."

"Because Jack knows him." John said innocently, not knowing Will thought
Jack didn't know him.

"What?" Will's eyes widened. "He told me he didn't know him!"

John fell silent, knowing he had committed a mistake. Will just shook his
head:
"And you say Jack loves me?"

"He must have a reason not to tell ye,lad!"

"No,John. Jack doesn't love me. He pities me. But I'm not anymore a man
who can be pitied. I'm not that weak anymore. I'm healed."

John knew it wasn't entirely true. Yes,Will seemed to be well to a man
who had been raped twice, but the lad was still very sensitive. And he
asked:
"Do ye love Jack,kid?"

Will's voice trembled: "W-what?"

"You think he doesn't love ye...but ye...do ye love him?"

Will looked to the floor,defeated.
"I can't stop thinking about him. But...love...I...I d-don't know..."

John sighed. This boy would have to heal first if he wanted to love
anyone. And so he said:
"You can stay here on my ship, lad. Well,it's always good to have both
a good and an infuriated man on me crew." He offered his hand to Will.

Will smiled broadly and took it: "Thank you, sir."

And so when Johnhip hip left the island two nights after that,Will was
among the crew.
