Chapter 4
A/N: This is a very short chapter, so you get two at once.
To my reviewers so far:
C.j. Davis: Thank you! To be honest, I have no idea where this thing is going, so I hope it won't disappoint you.
KiLLeRqUeEn329: Thank you! I'm a grad student, so I'm writing when I have the time. That's why the chapters are so short. There will be short ones and longer ones, but probably no really long ones.

Anna went back up on deck again and found Jack in a considerably better mood, and the cask of rum considerably emptier.
“I hope you gave Gibbs some of that, Jack.”
“Oh, a bit. Any progress?”
“She wants to talk to him. Are you going to let her come up here, or are you going to drag him down there in irons?”
“Oh, I suppose she can come up here. But if she jumps overboard with him, she’d bloody well better drown.”
“She’s not going to jump overboard with him. I can guarantee that much. She wants to talk to Josiah.”
“Oh, talk is all? Fine, then.” Jack sauntered below and returned with Anamaria, who started talking to Josiah in a language Anna didn’t have a clue about. It sounded like a marvelous language to have arguments in, though. Half an hour later, Anamaria turned back to Jack.
“All right, he’s agreed to stay in Tortuga, and I’ve agreed to stay here. On one condition. You marry us first, and we get three days ashore together.” Jack agreed to that, although he had never had occasion to exercise that particular privilege of captaincy before. On the “first time for everything” theory, he couldn’t resist. Half an hour later, Anamaria and Josiah were married and had disappeared ashore. Jack was considerably happier with life in general, and Anna was walking off the Pearl to get back to the tavern when Jack stopped her.
“I’ll come with you. Gibbs! Keep an eye on things till I get back.”
