The Struggle

Sleep would not come ease for the elder son of King Priam, Hector spent most of the night looking out at the city. The words of Lady Rheia replaying over and over. It was not in her nature to speak out, but he did note that he really didn't know much about her. As most Hector knew where she was from, etc..but , apart from her hair color, he did not know her person.

Anger, deep sweltering heat filled him, her words her tone. Unlike most women he knew, she’d taken many liberties by speaking to him in that manner. He was crown prince of Troy, she told the crown prince of Troy to be a man. What did she know of being a man? To add to her total lack of respect, she chose to speak out against the way he was raising his son. HIS SON!

"Women" Hector cursed them, "Taken all that I've given."

His wife's face came to mind, she would be able to calm him down with just a look. A turn of her smile would make him see things clearer. Yet he knew on this subject it would have to be his way. He was the only parent young Astyanax had and he'd raise the boy as he saw fit.

Another lingering presence played upon him, the firey look imbedded in Rheia's eyes. She felt so strongly for her purpose that she spoke out of turn to him. He'd under estimated her, something he'd not do again. Her eyes, a deep dark abyss, engulfing him. When they locked eyes Hector found himself backing down as if she was somehow controlling him. A fact that made him groan. No, she was not his master.

He cursed the gods, pacing up and down his room trying to control his feelings, feelings that he thought long dead. The Lady Rheia, since the day she'd arrived caused him many nights like this. Nights filled with thought, dreams of her eyes, things he dare not dream of. Hector felt ashamed, as if he were betraying his wife. He knew not the purpose of his dreams, only that they tools, a way for the gods to curse him.

A sound caused Hector to pull away from his thoughts, he turned seeing a light peeking in under the door to his bed chamber. He stepped lightly and waited until the light was gone to open the door. When the light faded, Hector opened the large door leaving it opened not wanting to give himself away.

He followed the faint light a few steps, seeing a cloaked figure go into his son's room Hector clinched his fist in preperation for whatever he may face.

Rheia set her light down as she came into Prince Astyanax room, smilemiled finding him asleep, his body tangled with the furs. Her body moved closer to the bed and she was about to stroke the young boys face when she was suddenly turned around, a hand covering her mouth.

She was being pulled out the room and down the hallway. When she was let go, Rheia found herself in Prince Hector's bed chamber.

"You are brazen in going in my son's chamber." Hector spoke while grabbing his sword aiming it at the back of his captive.

"Slowly turn so that I may see whom I am killing." He commanded pressing the edge of his sword into the person's back.

A sharp pain caused Rheia to cry out softly before she turned lowering her head, all thought was gone she stood shaking with fear.

"Raise your head" Hector stepped closer looking over the figure.

Rheia lifted her head but not her eyes, fearing the look that was embedded in Hector's dark eyes.

Hector grunted before moving the hood of the cloak so he could see the assailants face. The light trickled and danced across Lady Rheia's face. He lowered his sword and stepped forward.

"Why are you here?" He demanded never letting the sword out of his hand.

"I wanted to see if he was alright." She told him with a shaky voice.

A twinge of pleasure washed over Hector as he saw fear take her. He'd never before wanted to scare someone but for his purpose, scaring Lady Rheia was necessary.

"You take liberties my lady. Coming here at this hour, seeing the mood that I'm in." He told her while stepping even closer to her.

"I just wanted to make..." She fumbled with her words at his closeness.

"I know" was all he said while looking over her face, examining her features. "Are you scared Lady Rheia?"

"You know the answer to that." She told him while lifting her gaze. Her dark eyes mesmerized by his own dark globes, "Why ask?"

"You might be scared but still you fight." He offered before taking hold of her arm.
