Damgerous Secret Uncovered

Chapter 3: Dangerous Secret Uncovered
A/N: Deacon surprises Leorah at the local library and it’s there he discovers the unbelievable secret she has been hiding. Will Leorah escape Deacon or will he succeed in capturing her?

The soft sound of raindrops beating against the windows of Leorah’s third story apartment was all it took to wake the young lab technician from the uneasy slumber she had fallen into. For the few hours of sleep she had gotten she didn’t feel at all rested.

Leorah had been haunted by nightmares of Deacon Frost chasing after her down the dark and empty streets of the city. In her dream it had been raining very hard and the rain had felt like needles pelting her exposed skin as she desperately tried to escape Deacon. Leorah was only dressed in the blue tee shirt and white cotton panties that she had changed into before going to sleep.

It was all she had been wearing in her dream as Deacon chased after her. She was thankful that the rain beating against her windows had been enough to wake her from her horrible nightmare. Deacon Frost had been seconds away from sinking his fangs into the soft flesh of her neck when the rain had disturbed her. Leorah wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead as she moved to sit up in her bed. Raising her right hand to the side of her neck she traced the pads of her fingers along her skin carefully. She let out a sigh of relief when she didn’t find any bite marks marring her smooth flesh. “Thank god it was only a dream!”

Leorah tossed the blanket back and climbed out of her bed slowly. Walking over to her closet she grabbed an old faded pair of blue jeans and then grabbed her sapphire blue scoop neck sweater. Grabbing her white lace bra and matching panties she headed towards the bathroom. Leorah turned on the shower and quickly stripped out of her pajamas. She climbed into the shower and began scrubbing her aching muscles. After finishing her shower she quickly dressed and brushed her teeth.

Leorah grabbed a pair of socks from her top drawer and pulled them on carefully. Leaning down she grabbed her pair of black leather boots that zipped up the side and slipped them on. She stood and then turned to make up her bed before walking down the narrow hallway to her living room. Leorah grabbed her black leather purse from the bar and fished her car keys out of it.

After finding her keys she plucked her cell phone from it’s charger off the bar and stuffed it into her purse before grabbing the book that Whistler had given her just last night. “If I’m going to find out anything else about this weird book I’m going to have to take it with me to the public library.”

She locked the front door and headed down the long flight of stairs that led her to the parking lot. Leorah walked out into the crisp spring afternoon towards her black Lexus. Pressing the keyless entry button on her keypad the doors unlocked for her immediately. Leorah slid into the driver’s seat and started the car. She pulled out of the parking lot and headed towards the public library.

Leorah parked near the front entrance of the large gray stone building that was known as the public library. She walked up the stairs and headed into the library. Knowing her way around the library she went straight to the back to where the computers were kept. Leorah clutched the old book tightly in her small hands as she walked quickly to a vacant computer. Sliding into the cold metal chair she signed onto the internet and began her search for information.

Her slender fingers quickly typed the words slayer prophecies into the search engine and then hit the search button. After a few moments quite a few entries popped up on the screen in front of her. Her gray eyes scanned the listings and stopped when they came across something that caught her attention. There was a listing titled “Origin of the chosen one”. Leorah double clicked on the icon and brought up the article so she could read it.

Origin Of The Chosen One

Well renowned historian Arthur Cannaberry was the author of the book that spread the knowledge of the vampire slayers and their struggle to vanquish the vampire race that threatened the safety of the entire world. Cannaberry was on a trip to Romania where he discovered an ancient piece of parchment paper that was written in ancient Romanian. After hiring someone to piece together what the paper said Cannaberry decided to publish his findings so that the public could be informed of what he had found.

Cannaberry was shocked to learn that the ancient and very cryptic parchment told a vivid story of an amazing slayer that would be born with the incredible yet horrific ability to carry the seed of a vampire. She would come to be known as the most sought after slayer because of her incredible power. The parchment revealed an amazing amount of information about the slayer. Cannaberry didn’t feel that it was right to leave out any of the details that the parchment had provided him so he published everything in his novel.

The parchment spoke of a female slayer who would be named Leorah which in ancient Romanian meant fallen angel and that she would come to be known as the great slayer who would carry out the most unimaginable betrayal against her people. Leorah would be recognized by her birthday which would fall on the day that the slayers had come to call Ascension Day. She would be branded with the black crescent moon, the mark of the slayer, upon her right shoulder.

Leorah was thought to be the vampire slayers greatest asset to ending the violent battle that had been raging between the vampires and the slayers for centuries. The chosen one would not come to accept her duty at first but then she would finally see that it was her true destiny in life. Cannaberry never mentioned whether he knew what Leorah’s act of betrayal consisted of only that she would ultimately betray her fellow slayers.

Leorah decided that she would print the pages of the article and show them to Blade. Maybe Blade or his old friend Whistler would be able to help her find out what kind of betrayal she was supposed to commit. She scanned the listings of her search and found another article that was titled “ Unholy Union” and decided that she would read it as well.

She double clicked on the icon and brought up the article. Leorah carefully read the small passage and found herself nearly frozen with shock after she had finished. The article spoke of a powerful female vampire slayer who was thought to be the key to ending the war between the slayers and the vampires. It described how she instead came to be known as a great disappointment to her fellow slayers because she turned her back on her destiny all for the love of a man that she was supposed to destroy.

Leorah read on about the woman’s betrayal and was shocked to discover that she had abandoned her role as a slayer to marry the one man that was her sworn enemy. She could feel her stomach starting to tie itself in knots as she read about the slayer and the vampire she had thrown everything away to be with. Her ultimate betrayal came when it was discovered that she had become pregnant with the vampire’s child. Leorah printed the second article as well and was just about to close it when she felt someone’s breath caress the back of her neck.

Turning around in her chair quickly her smoky gray eyes widened in surprise when she was met with the cold ice blue gaze of Deacon Frost. “Reading anything interesting angel?”

“How did you find me?”

“You’re quite easy to keep tabs on really. Now what are you reading about?”

“Nothing important.” Leorah turned and tried to close the window of the article before Deacon could read it but he grabbed her hand and squeezed it tightly. “Ouch Deacon, you’re hurting me!” He leaned in so that his lips were just barely touching the edge of her right ear and whispered in a husky voice.

“Keep your voice down, we wouldn’t want to draw any attention to us now would we sweetheart?” She drew in a sharp breath when she felt the barrel of a gun jab into her lower back.

“What do you want from me Deacon?”

“What do I want from you? Hmmm let me think, well for starters you can tell me where the hell you got that book.”

“What book?”

“Don’t play stupid with me darling, the book that’s on the desk in front of you. Where did you get it?”

“I uh….well it was given to me.”

“By whom? Blade?”

“Why is it so important?”

“It just is now where did you get it?”

“I already told you it was given to me.”

“You’re trying my patience angel and that’s not a very smart thing to do. Now if you don’t tell me what I want to know I’m going to have to make you talk.” Deacon pressed the barrel of his gun harder into Leorah’s back to let her know he wasn’t kidding.

“Okay, Blade’s friend gave it to me.”

“The old man?”

“Yeah. Why do you care?”

“What were you researching on the internet?”

“About the book, I just wanted to know more about it.”

“You’re lying, and I’m going to find out what you’re trying to hide from me.” With one arm Deacon easily pushed Leorah out of the front of the computer screen and read what she had been reading just a few minutes earlier. After he had finished reading it he turned to Leorah with a devilish grin etched onto his sickeningly handsome face. “Oh so you’re interested in the slayer who is supposed to betray her own kind huh? Why are you so fascinated with that legend?”

“No reason really, just curious that’s all.”

“Right. I think you’re not telling me the truth. How did you find out about that story?”

“It’s in the book.”

“Oh right, the book that was given to you by Blade’s buddy Whistler. Well perhaps I need to read what’s in that book?”

“No you can’t!”

“And why not, are you afraid of what I might find out?”

“No. You just can’t read it.”

“Why would you be afraid for me to read it? It’s not like it concerns you, unless….” She swallowed nervously as she watched him grin wickedly at her. “ Of course, why didn’t I think of this before? This is about you isn’t it? It’s why Blade is trying so hard to protect you from me. Now what could this old book possibly have to do with you?”

“Nothing.”

“Oh if it was nothing you wouldn’t be so scared right now. I can smell your fear angel, now tell me why are you so nervous?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Deacon.”

“Oh I think you know exactly what I’m talking about sweetheart, but if you’d rather play stupid that’s fine by me. I guess I’ll just have to make you tell me the truth some other way.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“You’re coming with me angel now let’s go.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you.” Leorah pushed herself up out of the chair and grabbed the book from the desktop. She walked quickly towards the entrance not even looking back over her shoulder. Deacon walked quickly on Leorah’s heels knowing that he couldn’t run after her and cause a scene in the middle of the public library. Leorah walked through the front doors of the library and broke out into a run. Deacon followed quickly after her as she headed down the street towards the subway station.

Looking over her shoulder she nearly tripped when she saw how close Deacon was coming up behind her. Leorah sprinted down the dark stairway of the subway station and tried to push her burning muscles to move quicker. She was about halfway down the stairs when Deacon tackled her roughly to the floor of the subway station. She let out a small yelp of pain when her body came into contact with the hard concrete beneath them. Deacon pressed his knee into the middle of her back making her cry out. “That was a mistake angel, and now you’re going to have to be punished.”

“Please just let me go!”

“Oh no, not after you made me chase you, you little bitch!” Deacon yanked Leorah up onto her feet and pressed the barrel of his gun firmly into her lower back. “Now start walking towards the subway!” With a small nod Leorah started walking towards the subway train that had just come to a stop and opened it’s doors. She held the book and the papers that she had printed tightly against her chest as Deacon pushed her onto the train.

He forced her into a seat in the back corner of the train and made her scoot all the way against the wall. Deacon squeezed in next to her and looped his free arm around her shoulders while his other hand kept the gun pressed securely into her side. He leaned in and whispered into her ear. “Now just act like we’re a couple in love so we don’t draw the attention of that cop over there okay?”

“Go to hell.”

“I wouldn’t say that if I were you angel. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to you if you know what I mean?” To make his point clear he pressed the gun into her ribs harshly making her jerk away from him. “Now just play along and you won’t get hurt okay angel?”

With a small nod Leorah tried her best to relax as Deacon leaned closer to her. Before she knew it his lips were dancing across the side of her neck heading down towards her collarbone. His free hand that was wrapped around her shoulders had slid down and was now sliding in between her thighs. Leorah tried to keep her legs together but Deacon pushed her right knee aside and allowed his fingers to glide up the inside of her left thigh. Leorah inhaled sharply when she felt the pads of Deacon’s fingers press against her blue jean covered core making a shockwave of heat spread through her lower stomach. He let his fingers travel until he found the zipper of her jeans and he carefully unzipped it.

Leorah glared at him as he slipped his hand down into the waistband of her jeans and easily made it past the thin barrier of her white lace panties. Deacon grinned devilishly at her when his fingers found their way to the apex of her thighs. Pressing his long thick index finger between her delicate folds he quickly found the little bundle of nerves that made her jerk her hips forward when he pressed against it. “Oh you like that huh?” Deacon grinned when he felt the moisture that had started to pool between her thighs begin to trickle down his fingers. Leorah squeezed her gray eyes shut as Deacon flicked his finger inside of her pulling her closer to completion with each stroke. With one last flick of his finger against her clit He watched with an amused grin on his face as Leorah bit her bottom lip to keep the moan that was on the tip of her tongue from escaping.

“Well you certainly look delicious when you’re on the edge of pleasure, let’s see how good you taste.” Leorah watched with a look of disgust as Deacon raised his finger to his lips. She stared wordlessly at him as he sucked his finger into his mouth to taste her orgasm. “Mmmmm delicious.”

“You’re disgusting!”

“If you find me so disgusting then why was it so easy for you to get off when I touched you?”

“Fuck you!”

“Hmmm now there’s something to look forward to. Let’s save that for when we can have a little more privacy okay angel?”

“I don’t want any privacy with you!” She turned her head to the side to look out the window instead of having to stare at the smug look that was currently plastered on his dangerously handsome face. She didn’t want to have to think about what Deacon was going to do with her whenever they got to wherever it was he was taking her. She wished that Blade had shown up to rescue her like he had last time. Now it seemed that she was on her own and she didn’t have the first clue as to how she was going to get away from Deacon Frost. Leorah kept trying to reassure herself by trying to make herself believe that Deacon wouldn’t hurt her but it still wasn’t enough to keep her stomach from knotting up with fear. Just what the hell was she going to do if Deacon tried to turn her into one of his own? She couldn’t think about that right now it was only succeeding in making her more upset and she didn’t need that if she was going to try and escape.
