Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Looking around she sighed. It sure was a shit-hole. However, from what she saw of the cells down below it was far better. There was running water in her cell for showers and drinking. The people down below had to share 3 separate streams that were out in the open. The bed was fairly clean, and really hadn’t been used much as far as she could tell. These cells must have been fairly new, probably just finished from the rock within the last 6 months. She walked over and lay on the bed putting her hands under her head and crossing her legs at the ankles. She wondered if Riddick would appear at her cell’s entrance, but it was quiet and then she heard the sound of a large body lying on the bed in the cell next to hers. She let out a deep sigh and closed her eyes.
After resting there she realized there was something wrong with her cell. It was awfully bright, for sleeping anyway. She looked over to the light on the wall and grimaced at it. “How the hell can I go to bed with that on?” She mumbled. Getting up she looked for a switch but didn’t see anything. “Damn.” She thought. The light was up higher than she could reach. She grabbed a rock from the floor and threw it at the light shattering it and letting the room fall dark. That’s better, she thought. She walked back over to the bed and flopped back down. She spent the next several hours nodding on and off and listening for any noise from her neighbor. It was unbelievably quiet over there. She could tell he was faking sleep, hearing the fairly consistent breathing pattern, although every now and then is sounded a little off. She decided he was listening to her, wondering what she was up to. She smiled at that. “At least I have him thinking about me.” She thought to herself. Then she continued listening in the dark, waiting quietly till morning.
