Chp 4

His Pirate Bride

As he entered the doorway he was stopped dead in his tracks by the sight in front of him. The sight of a woman sitting in his chair behind his desk and holding one of his books as if she were reading. Her long thick wavy hair and a portion of her deep red dress were lit up against the glow from the candles that surrounded his desk. Barbossa, infuriated took a step forward and angrily rushed to speak. “How in the blazes did you get in here?”, he growled his voice cutting through the room like a knife. The thought of one of his men letting some random whore from Tortuga wonder about the ship infuriated him. His jaw was tightened now with anger, his brow lowered, his eyes sharp and fixated upon her, awaiting an answer.. Quickly the book closed shut and the girl swung around and looked him dead in the eyes. “Well hello Captain Barbossa”, Elizabeth spoke in a cool and calculated voice, a look of sinister pleasure across her face. For once in his life Barbossa was at a loss for words. His face and body quickly untightened and the look on his face turned to complete shock upon realizing who sat before him. “Well the proper thing to do would be to say hello”, Elizabeth spoke with confidence as she walked to the front of the desk and leaned against it waiting. She was now just within an arms reach from him. She stood silently facing him and he couldn’t help but be taken aback by the sight of her. She was beautiful just as he remembered her, even more so he thought to himself. He took a moment to take in the sight of her, the sexy way in which she was dressed, her face painted to perfection and her lush hair falling against her porcelain skin. He had never seen her quite like this before. He had seen many painted and overly done up women and girls before, trying hard to look like sirens. Only a few could he say would actually qualify. He had known many women through his years at sea but only a couple did he ever hold any real affection for. And then there was this one, Elizabeth Turner. She was a different story all together, a different breed it seemed. Since the first night he set eyes on her he knew she was a rare gem. Her beauty was undeniable and her fiery spirit sent his head spinning. His own charm and charima was matched by this girls and he felt the need to get as close to her fire as possible. Just being in her presence made him feel his primitive male urges overtake his. She made his sense of control disappear. Therefore he armored himself against the threat that she was with his use of clever words, sarcastic jokes and a display of artificial indifference.

He stood their for a brief moment admiring her like this in his room. His anger and shock were now replaced by a gleam in his eye and a smirk across his face. “Well now Ms. Turner you didn’t have to get all dressed up like this fer me”, he purred, his body getting closer, invading her comfort zone. She quickly took notice of the look in his eyes and the cocky tone of his voice. ”Don’t flatter yourself Captain Barbossa,” Elizabeth curtly replied. He was no fool. No woman would come into his space dressed like this waiting for him, unless she wanted something, especially not a woman such as the former Elizabeth Swann. The emotions stirring inside him wanted to entertain thoughts that she wanted him, Barbossa the man. But his suspicious nature quickly kicked in and his wall went back up. “How’s that husband of yers” he loudly asked as he walked around his desk and sat down in his chair. “Well I suppose you’d know as much about Will’s well being these days as I would”, Elizabeth replied as she turned and faced him. Elizabeth saw the comment as distasteful but she knew his love for sarcasm and mind games. He displayed his usual air of indifference now crossing his arms in front of him. “I heard yer days of piratin was over and by the looks of things I guess I heard right,” he smugly grinned while admiring her form. “So do you believe everything you hear from the mouths of sailors Captain Barbossa?” “I thought you of all people would know better than that,” she spoke with a seductive tone in her voice. She now leaned over his desk placing all her weight on her hands. Barbossa couldn’t help but notice the neckline of Elizabeth’s dress now, her cleavage barely peaking out from beneath it. It seemed a little more present now then it had in the past he noted. He barely noticed that Elizabeth’s eyes were staring directly into his now. He had unknowingly dropped his wall for the moment and Elizabeth saw his gaze turn into a blank stare, void of any of the usual cockiness. She was starting to realize that the Captain actually seemed to look a bit uncomfortable. No clever words dropping from his mouth now. She had worried that her appearance would be a disadvantage to her but it seemed to have the opposite effect. Barbossa was now returning her gaze and she seized the moment by not flinching. He was becoming utterly baffled by her behavior and was not quite sure what to make of it. Was Elizabeth Turner actually coming on to him? The same girl from the past that had reacted as if he were the devil incarnate. His instincts were telling him yes but he couldn’t help but wonder if this was wishful thinking on his part. Nothing but a perverse game she took pleasure in, he figured. If this were anyone else he would not flinch to make a move .But this wasn’t just anyone, this was the former governors daughter. The supposed wife of William Turner, the former Pirate King. She could have any man she wanted he believed. To make a hasty move would be folly and he suspected their might be more to this little visit than meets the eye. “So Elizabeth” he spoke, his voice now changed to a soft yet serious tone, “what brings ye here tonight.” Elizabeth noticed his kinder demeanor and returned the favor. “Just wanted to see a face from the past” she spoke, a warm smile now displayed on her face. She straightened herself up from the desk and stood upright now, no longer wanting to seem threatening in any way. Barbossa eyes followed her now as she folded her arms and slowly walked across the room looking at various things. “Actually I had no idea you were here”, she spoke. “It seems Mr. Gibbs found me, somehow he found out I was here in Tortuga and stopped into see me.” “That’s when he told me of the Pearl, and well here I am you see.” “Disappointed Captain?”, she asked. She tried to look serious but she knew full well the captain was taken with her. Elizabeth was still walking about the room, looking at things as if it was the first time she had seen them, her arms still folded he noticed. “And you thought I only came by to start trouble didn’t you” she sweetly grinned, still trying to charm him. It all seemed plausible he thought to himself. Her explanation for being here seemed genuine, except for the part about seeing him. “Well I thought ya might have mutiny on yer mind” he joked although she felt he may be more serious than he let on. He knew she had only seen him as a menace in the past. The only reason for her alliance with him before was for the sake of Jack. So why this unexplainable change in attitude. She was acting as if the past had never occurred and they were old friends now. Even so, the thought of Elizabeth giving him a second thought was stroking his ego and he certainly didn’t want to turn her away. No he was enjoying being in the presence of this fine creature too much for that. “So tell me Captain what brings you to Tortuga?” “Mr. Gibbs spoke of some sort of business you were attending to.” Barbossa stalled, hoping to divert from answering that question. “Well it was more of a little time for rest than business you could say,” he answered. He knew she was toying with him, she was no fool, but he played along anyway.” “Oh yes, we all need time to rest, don’t we?”, she sarcastically replied. He quickly changed the subject. “And yerself, what brought you here Miss Turner.” His curiosity was peaked, he had her the tales of her abandoning her ship and crew. This seemed to be very unlike the Elizabeth he used to know, and he decided to make the most of this time between them to find out as much as he could. “Why don’t we go above deck for a while”, Elizabeth spoke. “As you wish , Miss Turner” he responded, and stood up from his chair. “I’ll follow your lead”, he announced, happy to please her. Barbossa followed her as she began to walk up the stairs, he was at the perfect angle to admire the curvature of her form. His eyes were fixated on the roundness of her bum and he realized she had the body of a woman now. He wondered what it would feel like to touch her. If it were only even over the fabric of her dress. How would she respond? Would she turn around in disgust and slap his face or would she allow him to divulge his curiosities and explore her as he desired. Maybe she would even enjoy herself a little in the process. She had definitely turned into a woman now. It was a shame no one was able to really enjoy it he thought to himself. Captain Barbossa decided for one night he would relinquish his control. He didn’t know what was to become of this little visit but he figured the best thing to do was just to sit back and listen, to let her do most of the talking. He go the distinct impression that something was eating away at her and it would be to his advantage to lend a friendly ear.

It was dark now and the deck was lit up with only the light from the moon. It was a beautiful clear night and billions of stars were visible in the heavens. Elizabeth stood at the railing and looked out over the sea. Barbossa was approaching her from behind, admiring her perfect silhouette and the way her hair swayed in the wind. He stood with her now, his hand on the rail beside hers. She was quite as a mouse as they stood there staring into night. Barbossa noticed only the sound of the ocean and a warm feeling inside from being so close to her. The crew were still out having fun and Mr. Gibbs had made himself scarce, so it was just the two of them standing alone side by side together. Under different circumstances this scenario would seem quite romantic. Alone at night on a ship with Elizabeth Swann. Except for the fact that Barbossa could almost feel the weight that was pulling at her. “So,” Barbossa spoke, deciding to break the long silence, “How does it feel to be back on the Pearl again,” he asked with a devilish grin, trying to overcome the uncomfortable moment. He turned to look at her when he spoke but noticed she kept her eyes straight ahead focused on the sea. “I’m not sure I know the answer to that question yet”, Elizabeth answered in a barely audible tone still looking ahead. Barbossa quickly noticed that all her bravado was now gone and the sound of her voice was soft but empty. Suddenly she broke her stare and turned to face him. When she did she looked him dead in the face their eyes now locked together. She had looked him in the eyes many times but this time was different. She paused before she spoke not sure how she wanted to form her words yet. Her eyes were soft and warm he thought to himself but some how vacant. “What is your life like these days Captain, since your days of the curse are now long behind you?” She looked straight at him still, her voice sounding slightly timid. “I mean was it as wonderful as you imagined it to be,….to be alive again.” “To do all the things you’d been longing to do all those years,” she asked. She was swallowing her pride, talking to him like this she knew, but she hoped underneath all his sarcasm and boisterous ways he could humor her a little. Barbossa straightened himself and leaned in a little “More so than I could ever share with the likes of ye Elizabeth,” he grinned , his eyes were twinkling with mischievousness. “Is that so, Captain,” Elizabeth responded. They had never really spoken of the curse in the days of his return from the dead. Each were focused on the task that loomed ahead of them and Elizabeth really could have cared less in those days. Exchanging pleasantries with Barbossa about his well being was the last thing on her mind back then. Elizabeth looked at him now, a confident smirk across her face. “So tell me captain what was the first thing you did after the curse was lifted”, she asked in a curious but yet playful tone. “Did you really eat a whole bushel of apples?” A look of pride danced upon his face, as he spoke with sinister pleasure, “I had my mind on a lot more than apples my dear.” Barbossa was clearly taken with Elizabeth’s curiosity about him, but hoped he wasn’t being to forward with the Governor’s daughter, as much as he was enjoying it. He still saw her as the innocent girl of the past, the one he had secretly admired so long ago. She would always be that young, naïve, beautiful young women to him no matter how many battles she fought. Barbossa noticed that Elizabeth barely flinched at his naughty remark, one that in the past she would have scoffed at. “Yes, well, I always doubted your sincerity on that little point,” she spoke wryly. “What be with all the questions missy, not that I wouldn’t love to fill ye in on all the juicy details,” Barbossa spoke. “I just don’t wanna fill yer innocent young mind with such,” he spoke, a sly look still in his eyes. “Do you get some kind of perverse pleasure in treating me like a child Captain,” Elizabeth asked, her voice raising with irritation “and that name you always call me.” “Missy?” “No one’s called me that in years!” Barbossa saw that he had hit a nerve in her now and that her fiery temper was front and center again, just like old times. He smiled and decided to sit back and just enjoy the show for a while. “You know I am a married woman now Captain, in case you forgot , I’m not some innocent fair maiden anymore, despite what you may think” Elizabeth spoke haughtily. “And further more I’ve sailed as Captain of my own ship with my own men for years so please don’t treat me as anything other than your equal, Captain.” Elizabeth spoke the last word in a forced mocking way, trying to ignite his temper, but to no avail. Instead he leaned back and laughed in his husky voice, clearly enjoying the moment. “First of all missy your on my ship now, with my crew, without a ship or crew of yer own in sight anywhere, so don’t be speakin bout equals.” “Secondly you spend one night with that boy husband of yer’s “Will”, and from that ya probably thought you’d died and gone to heaven”. “Doubtful”, he spoke as he rolled his eyes. “And thirdly the term “missy” is merely a term of affection, and not some kinda insult to yer womanhood, Miss Turner,” he spoke his eyebrows raise, his tone indicating his growing irritation. “So forgive me if I’ve offended yer swelled head,” he added sarcastically and turned to walk away”. “Wait”, Elizabeth spoke, following him with her voice raised. Barbossa then turned around, a tired look in his eyes. “Don‘t leave,” she spoke , a sense of urgency in her voice. “That’s not why I came here tonight, not to fight I mean. “Elizabeth had now softened again, her eyes and voice were now filled with sincerity. “Your right Captain, …about everything.., about Will, about me, about my ship, my crew, everything,” Elizabeth spoke regrettably as she stared in the distance. Barbossa looked at Elizabeth now, trying to read her body language. He could clearly see her humbleness on display now, and he felt a twinge inside him. He suddenly felt touched by what he perceived to be a show of maturity on her part. He sensed her sadness now, her face unafraid of any vulnerability it showed. Despite her attempt at being indifferent to him he could see that this was clearly not the case as he looked at her admiringly. She looked him in the eyes now and let the word “sorry” softly fall from her lips. The tone of her voice made him feel soft inside and he felt an overwhelming urge to comfort her. Barbossa was realizing that Elizabeth Swann now had the heart of a woman beating inside her now and he would love to be the man to fill it.
