Chapter 4

I was feeling generous today, so I decided to post the next chapter early. Enjoy.

Chapter 4

Tyler opened his eyes and looked around groggily. He was hanging from a post in what appeared to be a basement somewhere, tied up by his wrists with no shirt on. He tugged weakly at the bonds, but found they were tied tight.

His eyes flicked around the room to see if anybody was there, but he was alone. He summoned his power to free himself, and nothing happened. Shocked, he tried again, but suddenly he heard a soft chuckle from somewhere nearby. He looked for the source of the sound.

“Did you really think I’d be that careless?” said Reid, no, Chase, as he walked out of the shadows towards him.

“What the hell do you want with me?” said Tyler angrily, “If you think any of us are going to will you our power, you’re going to be disappointed.”

Chase laughed. “I’m dead, Baby Boy. I just haven’t left yet. What use would a ghost have for your power?”

“Then what are you here for?”

“Isn’t that obvious?” He stopped in front of him. “I’m here for revenge, starting with the two youngest. However, I may as well have some fun along the way.”

He grabbed Tyler’s face roughly and kissed him, then ran a hand down his body to grab the younger boy’s groin painfully. Tyler winced and tried to shift away.

“You won’t get away with this.”

“Funny, that’s exactly what Reid said.” He smirked nastily. “I’ll be back soon, so don’t go trying to escape or anything.” With that he drifted back into the shadows and vanished, leaving Tyler hanging from a post, cursing his predicament.

Caleb’s eyes scanned the crowded bar for two people who would usually be there. He turned to Pogue.

“Hey Pogue, you seen Reid and Tyler?”

“Tyler was around a while ago, but I haven’t seen Reid,” Pogue replied, glancing around the bar.

“I saw them leave about two hours ago,” said Kate, frowning. “Why? Something wrong?”

“No, nothings wrong,” Caleb assured her, “It’s just odd. Usually they’d still be here hustling Aaron."

“Who would?” They all jumped and turned to see Reid standing next to them. He smirked and raised an eyebrow.

“You and Tyler,” replied Caleb, “Where’d you go?”

“Tyler wasn’t feeling great, so I took him home.”

“He okay?”

“Yeah, fine.” He sat down next to them.

“Hey Kate, I’m going to grab another round of drinks,” said Sarah, “Wanna come?”

“Sure.” The two of them stood and walked over to the bar.

“Guys, I need to have a look in the Book of Damnation,” said Reid quietly once they were gone. Caleb and Pogue stared at him.

“What? Why?” asked Caleb suspiciously.

“I’ve been having this weird dream lately.”

“Why haven’t you told us this before?”

“It didn’t seem important until Tyler told me he was having it too.”

“Well, what’s it about?” asked Pogue.

“I’ll tell you when we’re at the house.”

Caleb stood up. “Should we go now?”

“No, lets wait until Sunday evening to see if Baby Boy’s feeling better,” said Reid in a strange tone.

Caleb looked uncertain. “Aright, but if he’s not we’ll just have to go without him. This could be important, and waiting two days might not be the best idea.” Reid nodded, a slightly sinister look crossing his face that went unnoticed by the other two.
