chapter 4

By mornings light Lizzie awoke to find herself alone. She wasn’t entirely surprised; Jack never was very good at the morning after. His version of a good morning was him waking her up for a little morning romp and then running off to tend his ship once she drifted off to sleep again. She would never actually wake up in his arms. He loved her though and she loved him and she could deal with waking up alone, especially after the night they had and the conversation that took place between them. She leisurely rolled to his side of the bunk and deeply inhaled the scent of his pillow, basking in her regained confidence and the fact that she had finally been able to tell him what was on her mind. She really could tell him anything now.

Figuring it would be infinitely more productive for her to be on deck she slowly forced herself out of bed and dressed. She noticed that he’d left his compass on the desk so she picked it up. Admiring it and recalling a time when she would have denied who, not what, it pointed to, she flipped open the cover and watched the needle spin round once before settling on a direction beyond the cabin doors. She snapped it shut with an assured grin and headed to find her hearts desire before taking up her duties for the day.

When she found Gibbs at the helm she was slightly puzzled, Jack was always at the helm in the morning. “Mr. Gibbs, rather odd finding you here at such a time.”

“Aye. Captains orders.” The man seemed like he wasn’t as talkative as usual.

“Do you happen to know where the Captain is?”

“’e seemed a little angry this morning lass. Not certain where he stormed off to. Just informed me of me duties and left.”

“Angry, you say?” That would be strange she thought to herself.

“Aye. Barking at everyone, I’d suggest you head up to the crow’s nest, you’d best be avoiding him if ye can. No need to make him angrier than he already is. The whole crew’s trying to avoid ‘im.”

With that comment she turned in a huff. Why would he be angry, she certainly hadn’t done anything to warrant him being angry, nor did she have any plans to make him angrier as Gibbs had implied. She ventured below deck in search of him. After encountering a few more members of the crew, who described the Captain as “hostile” and “right madder than normal” she figured she would give up on her search and head to the crow’s nest to figure out what exactly she had done to put him in such a foul mood. Clearly she had to be the cause of the anger as the crew had implied and all she had told him was how she felt. Why would her love for him make him angry?

As she made her way to the ships highest point she noticed a familiar set of boots before her. She silently wondered what he would be doing there of all places.

“Jack?”

“Aye Lizzie. What took ye so long?” He smiled at her and offered a hand to pull her up next to him, a genuine smile plastered across his face. Jack Sparrow smirked often, sneered frequently, but only smiled on rare occasions. So much for him being angry she thought.

“I was looking for you. The crew has been telling me how unbearable you have been this morning. What’s the matter?” She would keep the fact that they were blaming her to herself.

“Nothing this won’t solve.” He smirked at her and pulled her to him, kissing her passionately and aggressively, leaving her speechless. Their eyes locked and he leaned his forehead against hers, smirking mischievously.

“You aren’t angry at all.” She smiled knowingly. “In fact I’d dare say you are happy.”

“I’m something luv. Angry certainly isn’t it. Happy is not a very piratey word, but I’m fairly certain you can guess what else I am.” He kissed her neck and left a trail of wet kisses all the way to her shoulder.

“Hmm.” She mocked thoughtfulness and ran her hands down his chest stopping and resting them at his waistline. “So you yelled at them all to get them to think you were angry so they would leave you alone. Then you decided that you would intrude on my favorite duty of the day.”

“Exactly.” He smirked and kissed her briefly, “only I don’t view it as intruding as ye say, I view at as enhancing.” He waggled his eyebrows at her suggestively before he slid his hands from her lower back to caress her backside and pull her against himself.

“And how exactly do you plan on enhancing it?“ She melted into him as she spoke easily giving away that she was very happy he’d joined her, but wanting to play with him a bit.

“Well it starts like this luv,“ he ground his hips against her proving a point, “Ye feel that Lizzie?“ He toyed with her and captured her lips yet again.

She smirked, duplicating the mischievous look he’d had in his eyes earlier. “That’s not a very convincing point,” she eyed him up silently laughing at the look on his face before she continued, “but I’m rather certain it could be.” She slowly lowered her hands to his waistband and untied the laces to pull his breeches down his legs. Without even having a moment to notice, she had dropped hers as well, and pulled him against her, grinding against him, flesh on flesh. He smirked at her antics and seized her lips before she could speak anymore.

“Yer such a tease luv.” With that he lifted her up and onto him so she could wrap her legs around him and turned to lean her against the nearby rail. They moved together covering each other in an onslaught of desperate kisses as they sailed together toward the horizon eyes focused on each other instead of what lie ahead.
