Chapter 4:

A/N: Well I’m sure you all know where this is headed, you guessed it, Elizabeth is going to turn up pregnant. Thanks for all the reviews! Hope you enjoy the latest chapter!

Elizabeth walked quickly to the side of the ship as soon as the Dauntless dropped anchor in the harbor. She glanced around briefly to see if anyone had taken notice of her. The soldiers were too busy with their duties of straightening up the ship to pay her any mind. Taking this as her opportunity Elizabeth quickly exited the ship without being seen. Or at least that was what she had thought. She had failed to notice Will standing at the top of the steps just below deck. He had watched her leave the ship so he quickly decided to follow her. Elizabeth walked in a hurried pace to get to the edge of town where Lady Marie Terese’s cottage was located.

Will kept a good amount of distance between them so that Elizabeth wouldn’t notice that he was following her. Once she had made it to the cottage she stopped and glanced around before opening the door to the wooden gate that was painted white and surrounded the little cottage. Will waited until Elizabeth went inside the cottage before he approached it. Finding a place to crouch down next to an open window he strained to listen to what was being said. The elderly woman known as Lady Marie Terese smiled gently as she beckoned for Elizabeth to sit on the worn looking cream colored sofa that was accented with a few little pale blue throw pillows. Elizabeth sat down wringing her hands in her lap nervously. Lady Marie Terese was a short woman with brown silvery white hair that looked wild and unkempt. She had shocking ice blue eyes that seemed to look through to a person’s very soul when she looked directly at them. “You seek answers young lady. Perhaps you already know the answer to what it is that you’ve come to ask me?”

Elizabeth’s mouth opened and closed a couple of times before she responded to the old woman’s question. “Um, yes I need to be certain about something very important.”

Without warning Lady Marie Terese placed a hand on Elizabeth’s stomach making Elizabeth jump a little in surprise. “Ah you’re going to be expecting a little one in the near future.”

“So it’s true then? Without a doubt, I’m pregnant?”

“Yes my dear, you are indeed with child. Tell me, does the father know about the child?”

“He suspected, but no he doesn’t know for certain, not yet.”

“So then go and tell him. I can see it in your eyes.”

“See what exactly?”

“You love this man very passionately, but are afraid to tell him about your love for him.”

Elizabeth gasped in shock at what the old woman said. “How did you…”

“Your eyes they shine with your love for this man. Go to him.” Nodding Elizabeth quickly stood and headed towards the door.

“Thank you Lady Marie Terese.”

“I did nothing but tell you what you already know child.” Will quickly ran around the corner of the cottage to hide as Elizabeth came out onto the porch and headed for the gate to leave. He watched her with a scowl on his face as she began heading back towards the town.

Muttering under his breath he started to follow her once again. “I knew something was wrong! Oh Elizabeth, how could you be pregnant with that pirate’s spawn?” Will carefully followed Elizabeth as she made her way through the town and headed straight for the prison. He shook his head as he watched her go inside. She was undoubtedly going to visit Jack Sparrow. Elizabeth approached the soldier that was sitting at the desk guarding the keys to the cells.

“What business do you have here Miss Swann?”

“I’m here to see a prisoner.”

“Which one?”

“Jack Sparrow.” The soldier looked at her with confusion.

“Jack Sparrow? But I thought you were engaged to Will Turner?”

“You were mistaken sir, now if you would be so kind as to take me to Jack Sparrow?”

“Yes ma’am. Right this way.” He got up from his desk and led her down the long and dimly lit hallway of the prison. Elizabeth wrinkled her nose as she watched a couple of rats scurry down the hall as they approached the cell units.

“Hey Sparrow, you got a visitor!” Elizabeth thanked the man and waited for him to leave them alone to talk. When he didn’t she raised her eyebrows to silently suggest it to him.

“Now kind sir, would be even more kind as to let me have a moment alone with Captain Sparrow?”

“But Miss Swann…”

“It’s not a suggestion, please go.”

“Yes Miss Swann.” The soldier quickly headed back to his post at the desk. Elizabeth smiled at Jack as she walked closer to the cell that he was being held in.

“Hello love.”

“Oh Jack, I hate seeing you locked up like this.”

“I know love. Did ye visit the witch?”

“She’s not a witch Jack. And yes I did.”

“Well?”

“I’m pregnant Jack.” She watched as his smile faded quickly. Her vision instantly blurred from the tears that welled up in her eyes. “Are you unhappy Jack?”

“Oh no love, no don’t get upset. I’m not unhappy bout what happened between us.”

“But you’re unhappy that I’m pregnant aren’t you?”

“Not unhappy love, jus’ worried that’s all. If I’m t’ be hanged then how will I be able t’ take care of ye an’ the little runt?”

“Leave that to me.”

Jack smiled at her obviously intrigued by the idea that she had a plan to save him. “Lizzie, what on earth are ye scheming bout in that pretty little of yers?”

“Don’t worry about that Jack, just know that I’m going to save you.”

“Yer going t’ save me eh? I do like the sound of that love.”

“I’ve got to go, father will be looking for me.” She stood to go but Jack grabbed her hand stopping her.

“Be careful love, for the sake of the runt?”

“I’ll be fine. Jack?”

“Hmmm?”

“Never mind. It can wait.” With that she leaned down and placed a quick kiss on the back of his hand before leaving him alone. He smiled as he walked back over to lay down on the small bunk that was in the cell.

Elizabeth walked out of the prison to immediately find Will standing on the outside steps waiting for her. “Will, what are you doing here?”

“I followed you the moment you left the Dauntless.”

“You’ve been spying on me?”

“Yes Elizabeth I have. I did it because in spite of you laying with Jack Sparrow I still love you.”

“Will please don’t say that.”

“Elizabeth I heard what the old woman said to you. You’re pregnant with Jack’s child.”

“I……I yes I’m pregnant with Jack’s child Will.”

“Was it true what she said about you loving him Elizabeth?” Her eyes fell to the ground guiltily as she tried to find the words to respond to his question. “So it’s true then, you do love him. Elizabeth he’s going to be executed in the morning. Don’t you see you can’t be with him?”

“That’s not up to you Will!”

“I can help you. Let me marry you and we can pretend that the child is mine.”

“How could you even suggest something like that Will? You hate Jack and you would hate his child.”

“No I wouldn’t. Elizabeth I could learn to love the child because it’s your child.”

“Just go home Will. Please don’t interfere with things.”

“So I’m an interference? That’s how you see me now Elizabeth?”

“I’m sorry Will.” Shaking his head he turned and started down the steps to leave as she had asked. “I really am sorry Will, I never meant to hurt you.”

“Save your pity Elizabeth.” Elizabeth stifled the whimper that was threatening to escape her throat as she began heading to her father’s mansion. She crept up the stone staircase that led to the terrace of her room and padded silently into her room. Elizabeth quickly changed into a nightgown and then decided to head downstairs to greet her father. She pulled on her blue robe and walked down the winding staircase and headed into the study where she knew her father would be waiting.

Just as she had expected there was Weatherby Swann pacing in front of his desk. “Father?”

“Oh my dear sweet Elizabeth! Where have you been?”

“I went for a walk. I’m sorry I just had to clear my head.” She allowed herself to be swept into a tight embrace by her father.

“Well now are you hungry child?” For the first time Elizabeth actually felt as if she could eat something.

“Yes maybe just some buttered bread and some milk?”

“That’s all? Nonsense, I’ll have the maid warm some of the stew that she made for dinner.”

“That sounds wonderful father.” He led Elizabeth to the table where she sat down. He quickly had the maid warm the stew for his daughter. Elizabeth was soon devouring the thick stew and the buttered bread that had been placed in front of her. She gulped down two large glasses of milk and then decided she was ready to turn in for the night. Kissing his daughter on the forehead he watched as she walked upstairs to go to her room. Once in her room Elizabeth quickly went over to her desk and pulled out the bottom left drawer. Underneath a few handkerchiefs was a wooden box. Inside the wooden box was a pistol. Elizabeth placed the pistol inside her brown leather satchel. Tomorrow she would go to Jack’s execution and threaten to take her own life and the life of her unborn child if her father did not release Jack Sparrow into her custody. Knowing that her father would not be able to condemn his only child to death she smiled to herself pleased with her plan to free her beloved Jack from the gallows. Elizabeth closed her eyes and soon fell asleep. Tomorrow would be a very trying day so she needed her rest.
