Chapter 4
She woke to the feeling of something warm and wet being pressed against her neck. Letting out a ragged breath she tilted her head to the side as was custom when Demetrius came to her like this. Swallowing she bit her bottom lip as she felt that warm wetness be pressed against her neck once more. It was better just to offer up her neck rather then fight him off and risk being hurt more then necessary. Her eyes snapped open as she remembered that she was no longer in the cave in twenty nine palms anymore.
“Get away from me.” She growled shoving the darker haired boy away from her and efficiently knocking a jeweled bottle from her brother’s grasp.
“Damn it Talia look what you made me do.” He sneered watching the crimson liquid spread rapidly along the concrete floor. She sat up looking around the huge room her eyes taking in what looked like a broken fountain in the middle of what she was starting to realize was yet another huge cave much like the one that she had lived in back home. Her fingers went to her neck where the wet rag had been placed over her bite marks only to pull them back and stare down at the blood staining her fingers.
“You bit me!” she shrieked lunging at her younger brother her fear momentarily forgotten. David smirked rolling his eyes at her innocence.
“Why would I do that?” she glared at him, silent, no answer coming to mind before looking down at her red fingers once more. Her brother had no reason to bit her and she would have felt it had her bond with Demetrius been broken. “Now I believe you own me some answers.”
She flinched looking down at her feet knowing that she had promised answers but unwilling to face her brothers wrath at the same time.
“I’m bonded. “She began weakly biting her bottom lip as she squeezed her eyes shut.
“No shit Sherlock. We already got that.” David snapped his voice as cold as she was sure his eyes were.
“Long story short he owns me.” She swallowed reaching up to slip her fingers back through her white blond hair as she opened her eyes fidgeting as she felt not one pair of eyes on her but all of them.
“Owns you like how.” The question wasn’t asked by David but by one of the other boys in the cave she wasn’t sure which. She looked up tilting her head to the side her chin stuck out in defiance. She was terrified of Demetrius but she would be damned if she let her bother have that kind of control over her as well.
“He controls me.” She shook her head her hands on her hips refusing to play the victim to her little brother. “I’m human,” she continued softly a moment later as if trying to find the right words, “but there is more to it then just that.” She sighed a harsh breath as she reached up to slip her fingers through her hair. “Do you remember when we were little mum and dad always had dad’s business partners over at the house?”
“What the hell does that have to do with anything?” David rolled his eyes quickly losing patience.
“Demetrius was among them.” She shivered closing her eyes as the memory replayed itself in her head, “and the first time he saw me he took interest in me. He said it was my beauty, my life, my eyes but most of all my will to live.” She shuddered reaching up to unintentionally wrap her arms around herself, “the night that I went missing from the house he took me. It was the middle of the night and it was snowing, I was still away helping Dad seal off just one more letter it was important to his latest client when a strong gust of wind swept its was through the house blowing out all the candles in the process. I wasn’t afraid I was used to the dark but then the arm around my waist and I screamed, I didn’t know what it was but it felt deathly cold. I wanted to get away to get to you to have someone anyone save me but the harder I struggled the tighter the grip seemed to get. Then everything went black. When I woke I had no idea where I was and I was so scared and he was there. “ she reached up startled to feel the wetness on her cheek as she continued on, “the first time he bit me it hurt so badly, it burned and I wanted nothing more then to die, but he didn’t kill me, instead he cut his wrist and pressed it to my neck, healing the skin with his own blood. That was how I became bonded to him. I do not age because he does not age. I am a familiar, a human meant to stay awake during the night and keep watch over him and be his blood source. In short,” she paused a moment to catch her breath, “I’m a blood slave.”
David swore under his breath squeezing his eyes shut as he turned away from her his fingers going to his temples.
“Christ Talia could you have fucked up anymore.” She winced as he turned to her in anger his hand reaching out to grasp her arm tugging her close to him, “what the hell am I going to do with you now?” Talia glared yanking her arm out of her brother’s grasp willing herself not to wince at the pain that shot up her arm.
“I’ve been taking care of myself for over two hundred years on my own David.” Her words were cold as she started to walk away from him, “I don’t need you babying me now.” Rolling her eyes she shoved past the other boys that were standing closer to what she assumed was the entrance to their cave. David shook his head as he watched her walk towards the back of the cave where their different rooms were located, it would be amusing to watch when she frustrated herself.
“Let her cool off.” He informed Paul, Dwayne and Marko. “She deserves to get lost back there. Maybe then she’ll see how much she can ‘take care of herself.”
