Time moves on – Battle Commences
This one contains death. O/C
“Thank you Highness” Hoggle blushed as Sarah handed him a mug of The Royal Wine
“Oh Hoggle!” Sarah admonished “I am still Sarah!”
“Oh but Highness The King would throw me into the bog of eternal stench just for being here!” He was nervous; eyes flicking around the sumptuous room sure that cruel Jareth lay in wait for him.
“Nonsense!” Sarah smiled “You are my friend, and you are welcome here, it is my palace and my city too now”
“But our Ruler….” Hoggle looked terrified, his bulging features blanched with his fear of Jareth.
Sarah put a hand on his arm “He will not hurt you, he can be a cruel leader, and that I cannot interfere with, but he will not harm you”
“I don’t know why you wanted to come back here!” Hoggle burst out “Jareth is cruel and mean and the city is crumbling, the magic of The Labyrinth has been beaten by Sardon, the Kingdom will fall and Jareth will pay!”
“Rubbish! Sardon is no match for Jareth and he knows it, he is taking a chance that Jareth is otherwise occupied, with me” Sarah’s lips curved a sensuous smile, Hoggle tutted.
“He has bewitched you Sarah!” He was nervous and angry, and a little jealous that this girl that he adored had fallen for the handsome Jareth, and that she appeared happy and that Jareth appeared to give her what she desired at a whim without a thought for any of his not so loyal subjects.
“Indeed I have Hog Breath!” Hoggle nearly hit the ceiling as Jareth materialised at his side, his mouth close to his ear.
Hoggle dropped to his knees “Sire” he whimpered “The Queen… we were talking….”
“Still unable to string a sentence together Hog Bog?” Jareth raised an eyebrow in Sarah’s direction.
“Jareth don’t” Sarah stood and moved between them “He is my friend”
“Ah!” Jareth peered around Sarah, causing Hoggle to flinch away “The loyal friend! Not so loyal to your King though are you?” Jareth tossed a crystal to Hoggle, which as Hoggle caught it, turned into a snake, Hoggle dropped it sharply, wiping his hands on his already filthy trousers.
Sarah leapt onto the chair next to her squealing “Jareth! Get rid of it!”
“It is a gift for you ‘friend’” he insisted not moving to collect the snake
“I warn you…” Sarah glared at Jareth
“You will do what?” he asked pointedly
With a flick of her wrist the window opened and the snake winged its way into the garden, landing with a soft thud before it disappeared in a puff of black smoke.
“That wasn’t very nice” Jareth spoke to Sarah “You killed your friends present!”
“Sometimes I despair of you Goblin King!” Sarah raised her chin to him, although still only coming up to his shoulder.
“Well. I’ll be ..er” Hoggle shuffled towards the door, pointing to it as he did so.
“Good bye Hog Snot” Jareth didn’t take his eyes from Sarah
“Hoggle wait!” But Sarah found herself talking to empty air as Hoggle shot down the hall way and out of the castle.
“Am I allowed no fun?” she demanded of Jareth
“Fun?” he laughed, that cruel and sensuous laugh echoing through the room “Fun is what we did last night my love” as he took her protesting body into his arms “That thing that has just left… whatever it is” he paused rubbing against her so she could feel him become aroused “Is a diversion and a poor one, he is in love with you and I will not allow that”
“It is a harmless crush as well you know!” Sarah protested as her traitorous body responded to him “You think that I could possibly find comfort with Hoggle in that department, you think you need assistance to satisfy me?” she deftly turned the tables on him.
Jareth growled and kissed her hard “I hope not” he breathed “As I would have to kill you both”
“I have no doubt” she countered returning the kiss
“Do I not satisfy you?” although he knew the answer he wanted her to say it, play his games.
“Always” she replied losing herself in him, blinking as he eased away from her.
“I have to go away Sarah” Jareth looked at her.
“Why? Where?” she was shocked as he changed from her lover to her King in the blink of an eye.
“I must defeat Sardon once and for all” he said
“A battle?” the fear evident in her voice
“Yes, I will fight for my kingdom, and win, and then I will fight for his” Jareth had the cold calculated look of the harsh ruler that he was.
“But….” Sarah did not know what to say, she knew that as a King he must fight to protect the Kingdom and his subjects, but shook at the dangers such a battle would bring to them all.
“There is no discussion, we leave for the boundaries at day break, and I will lead the Goblin Army as the Goblin King, and reclaim my territory” Jareth softened as gently took him once again in his arms “And you will remain safely here and be protected by The Palace Guard and Magic”
“Oh Jareth” Sarah rested her head against his and allowed a tear to fall.

“Submit!” King Sardon stood over King Jareth, a spear at his throat.
“Never!” Jareth was weak physically but his spirit would never yield, he may be a cruel and merciless leader to his subjects but he was loyal to them and would fight to the death for his Kingdom.
“Submit or die!” Sardon resembled Jareth in many ways, the cruel twist of the lips, the cold, hard eyes.
Jareth gasped as the spear tore at the skin on his neck, still he would not submit “For my Kingdom to become yours you must take my life”
Sardon fumed at the defiance upon Jareth, although he knew he had Jareth beaten, he needed to torment as he had been tormented, as a cat is driven by instinct to torment a mouse before the kill, so Sardon was driven.
“I will have your lands, Goblin King” he sneered “And I will also take your Castle, I hear that it is comfortable, I also hear that the Goblin Queen is….” He pushed the spear again as Jareth found strength he did not have “Passionate and loving”
Jareth laughed “To you?” He mocked “Never! She will die first”
“Not if she thinks that her King has returned battle weary and in need of comfort” Sardon’s eyes glittered with evil, Jareth watched in horror as his rival slowly transformed into his ultimate likeness.
“No…” Jareth’s voice was a whisper, crucified at the thought that Sardon would trick Sarah into his bed, he knew that thinking Sardon was Jareth she would go willingly and happily.
“And when we lay after I have tasted Sarah’s sweet body, I shall reveal to her what she has done, and by then it will be too late, she will be mine!” Sardon spoke in the same voice as Jareth.
Jareth was torn, if he submitted there was a chance that he could escape and at least warn Sarah before…., his mind shied away from the thoughts, however Sardon wanted him dead, even stripped of Royal power Jareth was stronger than Sardon, this situation had been a fluke, Jareth had been caught unaware and sleeping, his closest guards were traitors, some had infiltrated and posed as Goblins, setting Jareth up and killing his loyal guards, others had been bought off with false promise, and now lay dead beside their loyal brothers. Jareth had put up a stronger fight than expected, he could hear the battle that raged at the Labyrinth entrance, he knew that the Labyrinth would yield it’s magic to whoever took his life in battle, and open herself up like a flower, allowing Sardon to have access to the above world, Sarah’s home once, which Jareth was charged with guarding. He must guard that with his last breath, despite his need to protect Sarah. With the last of his strength Jareth rolled away from the spear, feeling cut deeply into his neck, the blood poured as he jumped to his feet, turning to face Sardon, he tried to summon his magic, throwing a crystal it turned into ropes, his power was gone as the ropes landed harmlessly at Sardon’s feet. Sardon laughed as Jareth sank to his knees the blood draining from him.
“The Great Goblin King kneels at my feet!” Sardon lifted the spear; a look of confusion crossed his face as the spear was jerked from his hand. Sarah stood behind him, proud and fearless she faced down the evil King, realising that Jareth’s power was energy, and that energy would not be destroyed it flowed into Sarah, Sardon panicked as the lighting bolt lifted him from his feet, killing him in mid air. Sarah was all powerful, but unpractised at controlling the magic as it coursed through her, the lightening bolt swirled, harmless to her. She looked on in horror as Jareth reached to her, the lightening homing in on his outstretched hand. His eyes widened and then his body fell forward. Sarah turned him over, cradling his lifeless body.
“Jareth no!” she wailed “My King wake up I am here!” she shook him, willing his eyes to open yet knowing it was hopeless, she crumpled over the inert form, his blood soaking into her as she rocked his body.
Hoggle stood behind her, placing his hand on her shoulder “Sarah?” he ventured
“No Hoggle!” she screamed, shaking Jareth by his shoulders desperately.
“Come on Sarah” Hoggle tried to pull her away as she fought to stay. Gentle, kind Ludo picked her up as she fought, carrying her away.
“Sarah cry” was all he said.

Sarah stood at the balcony where Jareth had stood a thousand times before to address his subjects. They were now her subjects, she had taken the Goblin Kings life in Battle, all power was now hers. It was an empty power but Sarah had a responsibility to continue Jareth’s kingdom for the Son of his she would soon bare, a son that he never knew existed, after the heartbreak of losing him it was bitter sweet to find herself pregnant.
Her black robes swirled as the wind whipped at the Kingdom spread out before her.
“Goblin City!” she found her voice “The King is dead!” the subjects lowered their heads “I now reign over this Kingdom! I am your ruler and you will obey me as you did your King, he died to save your homes and lives!” Sarah gripped Hoggle’s hand as tears threatened “You will honour him in death!” she commanded before turning on her heal, the gaggle of advisors following her as she returned to the state room behind. With a flick of her hand she ordered them to leave, as they shuffled away she reached inside her mourning robes, removing the heavy medallion that Jareth had worn, she clutched it to her as she stared into space.
