Chronicle 4: A Very Yaut Christmas!!!

I was just relaxing in my room, a week before December would begin. ’I hope the stuff I ordered comes in soon! I really need to start making their presents!’ I was worried, I had ordered a certain something a day or two before the Thanksgiving feast.

I heard a growl at my door, followed by a knock. I got up from the sofa and pressed the button by my door, allowing it to slide open. I was then face to face with Nrak’ytara.

Right now the only Yaut I see is R’ka, Hult’ah and of course Nrak’ytara. The twins were out on a mission, something with an infestation of their most common and hunted creatures, I couldn’t pronounce the actual Yaut word for it, but they were pure black alien creatures that Hannah told me were called Xenomorphs by humans.

From what I was told, they do sound like a challenge to hunt, they are incredibly fast, lethal and learn from the failures of their brethren. Armed with a long, prehensile tail with a sharp stinger on the end, claws and acid for blood. I wouldn’t wanna meet one of those anytime soon.

But, if I understand what R’ka wishes of me, I’ll more then likely have to at some point. But now I’m getting off topic. I smiled and waved at the dark green warrior who grunted a hello back. L noticed he had a large box with him, large by my standards. While it almost reached my hips, it barely reached Nrak’ytara’s knees.

My translator told me what he was here for, (Delivery for you, Zta’Ci.) he clicked. Nrak’ytara, being the more tactical warrior of the four, was very bright and had a very cool head. It almost seemed impossible to rile him up! Both him and Hult’ah were both calm and level-headed. Though Nrak’ytara is more calculating. He is also very sociable and knows how to manipulate others, a trait he also uses as a diplomat on missions, like his more recent one.

A ruthless space pirate took over a small planet that the Halkrath clan vowed to protect. So, R’ka assigned Hult’ah and Nrak’ytara to handle the situation carefully. The two warriors complimented each other’s abilities. Both were accomplished fighters. Hult’ah would use his keen senses of hearing and sight as a scout to survey the area and report any findings he thought would be useful from schedules to weaknesses in the chain of command.

Nrak’ytara would then plan on how to handle the situation. At first, they attempted to be diplomatic, but the tyrant of course refused to relinquish his power over the people.

The two Yauts, both being very well trained from the best in their clan, did not hesitate to beat their collective asses! Not the appropriate way to put it but c’mon! From how they describe the battle, they opened a monumental can of whoop ass! But, for all I know they could be embellishing the story…I wouldn’t say that to their face though, challenging a warrior’s honor is not advised for someone who has absolutely zero training.

Straining my brain, I had just woken up so it can be hard to remember things like an advanced alien language. (Thank you, honorable warrior!) I responded, bowing graciously. My suitors eat it up when called such things. Its kinda cute to an extent. They would puff their chests out, fists to there hips and bark confidently.

It makes me giggle at times. ‘I wonder if all guys are like that.’

Nrak’ytara bowed in return and left. I grinned happily and set the box on the small coffee table that was in front of my sofa. I then opened it, seeing exactly what I ordered, tons of fabric. “Time to get knitting!” I cheered, grabbing my needles and getting to work, this will take a while.

*3 weeks later*
I finally had everyone’s gift done and sewn. I decided to do something simple, I made everyone a blanket each made with special fabric that would keep them all warm. Since the Yautja are rather a practical race, it seemed to fit pretty well.

I even ended up making one for myself! It was pink with skulls on it. It kept me very warm during the cold space nights. Even the days could be cold! But I at least had my beginner’s training.

For Christmas, we were gonna have a lot of food, not as much as we had on Thanksgiving though I assume. Since the guys loved the ham, I got a very large suckling pig roasting with some sides similar to what we had during our last feast. But, I also found a recipe for eggnog!

I know I may not be with my birth family, but I’m sure this is gonna be an amazing Christmas. ‘Wonder if I should tell them my birthday is actually Christmas Day?’ I thought, wrapping the blankets. ‘No, it might be too much to take in. Besides, turning 14 isn’t that big of a deal.’

It was about 8 at night, the time we agreed to hold the festivities on. So, I gathered the presents and made my way to the Great Hall. My muscles were a bit sore from also training to become a warrior to pass their test into adulthood. ‘I have to take it in six years…will I be ready in such a short amount of time?’ I wondered, rather worried, I wasn’t born to be a warrior! Not that I knew of anyway.

I snapped back to my sense right outside the Great Hall. ‘I can’t think about that right now! Its Christmas for Santa Christ’s sake!’ I told myself, shaking the nonsense out of my head. I heard curious chirp come from my right, I turned my head and gulped nervously…it was Cetanu.

I don’t know why but, the giant black warrior scared me. It could be because he’s the biggest male I’ve seen. But, he’s just so damn scary…I always thought he was just a click away from taking my skull to become a trophy in his already large collection.

His large hand snatched a present from my grasp, making me gasp at first then glare at the intimidating warrior. I noticed his claws tore the paper as he held it. He looked back up to me, red eyes seeming narrowed to me. “What?” I asked, annoyed that my translator was muffled under the red and white striped turtleneck sweater I was wearing.

Not wanting the entire thing to rip, I grabbed it from the alien’s grasp. I managed to keep my nerves like steel as Cetanu roared at me. Determined not to be pushed around like a timid kitten I growled back, “This isn’t even your present! You’ll have to wait like everyone else, Cetanu!” I turned and walked away into the Great Hall which was now decorated in the yuletide colors of green and red.

I believe Hult’ah and Bhu’ja were the ones to find the gargantuan tre that was now in the corner by the left staircase. And the tree was decked out in everything a Christmas tree should be; lights, tinsel, ornaments, candy canes and a big, bright star at the tip top! Nothing makes me feel the Christmas spirit more then a big bright tree with presents underneath it!

I looked over and received quite a shock. Elder R’ka was dressed as Santa! He even managed to wear a fake beard! ‘Wait…how is that possible?! His mandibles would get in the way!!!’ I do believe I was just mindfucked on Christmas. To add to my bewilderment, he greeted me with his own rendition of Santa’s trademark ‘Ho, ho, ho!’

‘At least he’s in the spirit of things.’ I told myself, putting the presents under the tree. Hannah was by the fireplace, placing little treats in the stockings. I noticed Bhu’ja trying to take some from her, only to be reprimanded. I giggled softly, ‘Stark really does behave rather childishly at times. Its kinda cute.’

Suddenly my eyes were covered and I was being led to. “Okay, Stacy, we’ve got a surprise for you!” I heard Hannah say behind me. I was a tad confused, just standing there, more then likely looking like an idiot as I waited for whatever they had planned.

“Alight…but Paya help all of you if you end up drowning me in silly string!” I threatened, hoping that they did not know about the little ‘surprise’ my father always did for me.

After about a minute with my eyes covered, Hannah finally removed her hands, but I kept my eyes closed for fear of the silly string assault. “Oh, come on,Stacy! Open your eyes!” my surrogate mother told me firmly.

“Fine.” I groaned, letting my eyelids slide open and I saw what my new family had prepared for me. It was a wonderfully large cake with black and green icing and a few lit candles. I was left with my mouth agape as Hannah begun singing the famous Happy Birthday song. The Yauts, Cetanu excluded did their best to sing along.

The large smile on my face began to quiver as tears of happiness watered my green eyes. “Aww you guys!!!” I cried happily, wiping the tears from my eyes and felt arms wrap around me, receiving a hug from Hannah. “Happy 14th birthday, Stacy.” she told me in warm, motherly voice.

We all had a huge slice of cake, it was marble since Hannah didn’t know which one everyone would like. “Alright! Time to open presents!” Hannah announced, immediately stealing my attention from Bhu’ja who was regaling with his battles against numerous Xenomorphs. Think I saw him pout, can Yautja pout? Well if they can, my stark friend sure did.

“Yes!!! C’mon Stark!” I practically ordered, attempting to drag my friend to the giant tree to no avail of course. I plopped down right beside the tree, sitting Indian-style, ready to hand out gifts. R’ka sat next to Hannah, I saw him hand her a gift rather stealthily.

I grabbed the blankets that were wrapped in colorful paper and handed them to the correct people. In no time, the beautiful paper was torn, shredded and crumbled on the stone floor.

Hannah immediately wrapped herself in the baby blue blanket, I had embroidered her name in beautiful calligraphy. The blankets for the Yautja had their names written in their language.

R’ka’s blanket was dark red with dark orange lettering. Cetanu’s, black with red letters. Bhu’ja’s was white with red as well. Nrak’ytara’s was made from a dark green color with black lettering. And Hult’ah’s was dark brown in hue with black letters. The Yautja tilted their heads, holding up the gifts. “They’re special blankets, the material is used by soldiers to keep them warm. I hope they do the same for all of you during cold missions.” I explained to them.

Thankfully, Hannah helped teach them how to understand English way before I was brought aboard so they understood, a new appreciation for the gift I made each of them. “A very thoughtful and practical gift, Stacy. I love mine as well.” my fellow human said, snuggling next to R’ka who also had his blanket wrapped around himself. He also wrapped a portion of it around Hannah.

‘Actually, they are kind of cute together.’ I smiled as the beautiful blonde laid her head on the Elder’s arm. I got up and got myself a glass of eggnog, God it sounded and definitely smelled delicious. I went and sat between Hult’ah and Bhu’ja. Si closed my eyes, feeling the Christmas joy seep into my soul.

I suddenly felt crowded and opened my eyes, seeing everyone surrounding me. “Can I help all of you?” I asked, yawning afterwards. ‘Why does the eggnog taste different?’ I wondered.

“Everyone got something for you as well.” Hannah said, smiling and winking at me. She handed my a big bag filled with paper and an individually package that seemed very soft.

I tore the package open to find that it was a hand-knitted green and black checkered scarf! “Oh, this is awesome! Thanks, Hannah!” I cheered wrapping it around my neck. Sure it clashed with my sweater, but who really cares! Like Yautja gives two craps about a fashion faux pas.

She had also gotten me a few movies, the one I loved most out of the bunch being Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch. And, as an extra she got me two dolls one of Gizmo the mogwai and an alien from the Toy Story franchise! I placed the dolls on my lap and Nrak’ytara stepped forward with a small box and put it in my unoccupied hand.

I opened it, revealing a bracelet made out of teeth. He said they were the teeth of the evil dictator he defeated. Hannah whispered to me, “When a warrior intentionally mars such a grand trophy for a female, it’s a sign of great admiration.”

Understanding what she said I smiled at the hunter green Yautja, “Thank you very much, Nrak’ytara.” A smile spread across his face and he puffed his chest with pride.

Hult’ah too had a box, more rectangular. I smiled at the somewhat shy scout and unwrapped the gift. It was a gorgeous forest green dress that I knew I couldn’t fit into yet. “Its beautiful, Hult’ah! How’d you get this?” I asked, my jaw dropped at the gorgeous gown with sequins and jewels.

Hult’ah smiled and explained that the female who was forced to marry the dictator gave it to him as a thank you. (Wonderful. Perhaps I can hear more about it later?) I asked, smiling and looking him in the eyes. He purred happily and bowed, dismissing himself for Cetanu.

He gave me a sloppily wrapped box and I quickly unwrapped it, mostly to keep any encounter with the over-confident Yaut. “Wait…what the Hell?!” my eyes went wide at seeing what Cetanu got me…Christmas lingerie! It was an extremely short camisole that was completely wee through with a v-neck that met at a small green silk bow.

I heard him bark at me to put it on. “Screw you, Scrooge. I’m not even old enough to wear something like this. Thank you nonetheless for the thought.” I told him, trying to keep my cool.

Cetanu stalked off to the fireplace, away from the group. Bhu’ja then stepped forward and reached into a small pouch on his hip and pulled out what looked like a ring. It was silver with a ruby in the center. “Wow…Bhu’ja…this is just beautiful!” I gasped, watching the fire dance across the ruby.

The ruby reminded me of Bhu’ja’s eyes, so bright and beautiful. (Thank you so much!) I said, perfectly in his language, making him smile and swell with pride.

Now, R’ka approached me and got down on one knee in front of me. I gave him a weird look but that soon melted away when he presented a pure silver shortsword to me. (I give you this sword, won from one of my first conquests. May it bring you honorable victory.) He told me, his bowed respectfully to me.

I carefully took the sheathed weapon and bowed to the Elder, “You honor me with such a gift.”

Despite such a formal event, the party went on merrily. I gulped down the rest of my eggnog and felt light headed…

Thank you everyone for staying with me. I am glad so many people are enjoying the story thus far. There are a few people I really wish to thank:

PewPew- My first review, I hope your Yautja muse is still going strong, keep the awesome work and thank you very much.

Cricket- I’m happy that the beginning did its job in ensnaring you to continue reading, hope the updates make you happy.

SightSoBlind- Thank you for pointing out my mistake, I hope you can see I corrected it and I wish you a happy birthday as well.

Zirconia- Who knows what happens next?! :O LOL

TenshiWolf- I’m glad you find this story somehow sweet.

Bloodravyn- How awesome are these newer chapters? J

SecretQuill- I do plan to continue this story, its my most popular on here and is doing well on Quizilla to boot. :D

SuperImposed- I definitely thank you for such a helpful review. I find it hard to know when I have too little or too many details. :\ And the recurring dream I did not know was used a lot. I don’t read many fan fictions and the dream was used to introduce Stacy as paranoid and to create a feeling of déjà vu and a sense of dread because she didn’t know what was going to happen when she tripped while being pursued.

I do hope you enjoyed chapters 1 and 2 and that 3 and 4 bring the seasonal cheer. I also thank you for being professional about your critique, something that can be very hard to find on the internet. Happy holidays and good reading. Let me know what you think in the future chapters please.

Kangae no Hinansho- Like the name. What’s it mean? And I am happy you like Stacy thus far. Is there anything in particular that makes her likeable? And do enjoy the updates.

And thank you to all my friends on Quizilla who help me with feedback day after day, you are too many to list and I love each and every one of you. Everyone, have a very merry Christmas, safe holidays and of course a happy new year!

See you in February! PEACE!!! :D
