REVIEW
Hephaistion woke up sweaty. The pain in his abdomen had lessened quite significantly, there was just a light stinging sensation to remind him of what had happened. He was in the room alone; he tried to get up to wash his face in the bathroom but failed and landed right back onto the bed. He was too weak, he couldn’t keep his balance, and he would need someone’s help.
Then as if someone read his mind, the door slowly opened.
Olympias stood at the door, “Let me help you Hephaistion.”
“It doesn’t hurt as much,” Hephaistion replied softly, “I just can’t seem to balance myself.”
“Well you have been in bed for quite some time Hephaistion, it is expected,” Olympias said as she helped Hephaistion get to his feet.
“Quite some time? How long, and my babies,” he questioned her while looking directly into her eyes.
She closed her eyes briefly, “They’ve passed into Hades, Hephaistion.”
Hephaistion was about to stumble over before Olympias steadied him. Her words were too fast, it didn’t seem real.
“How can this be,” he questioned her.
“I’ll tell you after we get you cleaned up a bit,” she replied.
Hephaistion nodded his head slowly, “Yes.”
She told him everything that no matter what Glaulcos tried to do; the babies refused everything, even their mother’s milk.
“They did not have the will to live Hephaistion.”
“But why? I would have loved them with all my heart and soul! Why did they not want to live?”
“I cannot answer that question Hephaistion…”
“Alexander will be crushed,” he said palpably, holding back tears.
Olympias looked into Hephaistion’s eyes, “I was entrusted by him to take care of you Hephaistion, I was to make sure the baby would be born, healthy, like Teodor. I cried when I saw them take their last breathe Hephaistion, it was devastating. I cried for nights on end”
Hephaistion took Olympias’ hands and kissed them, “You are not to blame. Alexander will understand, I will make sure he understands. You’ve been nothing but loving and caring to me, I thank you for that.”
Olympias smiled, “I am so great full Alexander chose you as his lover, from the very moment,” she said as she embraced him.
“Thank you. Well right now we need to focus all our attention on Teodor until Alexander comes back.”
“Agreed,” Olympias said with a smile, “I’ll go get him and I will also be back with food.”
“Thank you Olympias.”
“Think nothing of it,” she said as she closed the door.
Once outside of Hephaistion’s room she took a deep breath, she needed to get that potion inside of Hephaistion before his good mood ran out. She didn’t want any more problems.
yea yea i know, i kinda hit a block, next chap will be better, i promise i kinda just threw this together to get on with the story, you feel me?
and when you're not feeling good, when you're not 100% when you are hurt, recovering, you know who you're real friends are. I know this probably doesn't make sense...but if it happens to you, you'll know, and if it has, you know what i'm saying.
No matter how much you care, they don't care for you back.
