chapter 49

Chapter 49:

A/N: Okay they arrive in London and Jack takes Elizabeth to his Great Aunt and Uncle’s estate The Four Winds.

Jack stood at the bow of his ship as they sailed into the harbor just outside of London. He took in a deep breath exhaling slowly savoring the salty smell of the air around him. The feeling of Elizabeth’s slender arms wrapping tightly around his waist startled him from his thoughts. He turned in her arms and bent down to kiss her softly. Her lips were warm and soft like silk against his own weathered lips. She tilted her head back opening her mouth wider coaxing him to deepen their kiss. Jack’s calloused hands slipped around her waist and slid down to her bottom pressing her closer against him. Feeling himself growing more excited by the second he broke the kiss off quickly. Elizabeth looked up at him with wide confused tea colored eyes. Leaning up she brushed her lips against his as she whispered to him.

“Why did you stop?”

“Not in front of everyone love.”

“Jack we’ve been married for almost a year now and we have a son and another baby on the way. I’m pretty certain that the crew expects to see us showing our affection.”

“It’s jus’ not a very…..piratey thing t’ do love.”

“Oh for God’s sake Jack….is that what this is about?”

“Ye know being married t’ ye has made me rather soft darling.”

“Has it now?”

“Undoubtedly darling.”

“Well do you regret marrying me?”

Jack grabbed her chin softly and tilted her face up a little higher so that she was looking directly into his coffee colored pools.

“Love that is something I will never regret….an’ I’ll marry ye in every lifetime that comes after this one ends.”

Then he placed a soft kiss on her petal pink lips before letting go of her chin. She blinked away the tears that had welled up in her eyes before reaching up to brush away a strand of his dreadlocks that had fallen onto his cheek. Even though they had been married the better part of a year sometimes she still had a hard time believing that everything was real and that he really was her husband. As a little girl she had been practically obsessed with the man and the legend behind him. She would read everything she could get her hands on about the infamous pirate captain. When they had placed wanted posters of him throughout Port Royal she had stolen one off the wall of one of the market shops to keep in her bedroom. Not that she would ever admit this to her husband but she used to kiss the picture of him every night before going to bed. And then when she had gotten older and started having sexual urges she would often look at the picture of Jack while she touched herself. Upon revisiting that memory she felt her cheeks start to burn with embarrassment. Stepping back she looked out toward the ocean hoping that the breeze would cool her flaming cheeks.

“Ready t’ go ashore love?”

“As soon as I get Jacob from his cradle.”

Jack watched her as she walked quickly back to their cabin. It wasn’t often that Elizabeth wore dresses anymore but when she did he enjoyed it greatly. And today she had chosen to wear a dress. It was a simple pale yellow cotton dress….nothing fancy by any means but she looked radiant to him. Perhaps it was because she was pregnant with his child and had started to have that certain glow about her the way she had when she was pregnant with Jacob. Elizabeth emerged from the cabin with Jacob attached to her hip. Placing his hand at her lower back he guided her down the gangplank to step onto the pier. He had already given Gibbs his orders so they just continued on into town. They came to the end of the pier and Jack let go of Elizabeth’s waist to approach a man standing next to a black carriage.

“Can we get a ride t’ the Four Winds estate?”

“Certainly sir, step in.”

Jack helped Elizabeth into the carriage after the man opened the door for them. Climbing into the carriage last Jack sat across from Elizabeth. She looked so beautiful to him in her simple pale yellow cotton dress. It had simple cream colored stitching along the neckline which was sweetheart styled and also along the cuffs of the sleeves which stopped at her elbows. The back of the dress buttoned up and she was wearing a pair of cream colored shoes. She had woven her long tawny hair into a braid and secured it with a cream colored ribbon. Sometimes he still couldn’t believe that he was married to her. Of all the well off and respectable…not to mention young men that Elizabeth could have married she had chosen him….a much older and decidedly not respectable pirate. Recently Elizabeth had just turned twenty. Well it had been two months ago now….and his own birthday was rapidly approaching. In fact it was less than a month away. Frowning Jack realized he would be turning thirty four. Just when had he gotten so old anyway? Looking back over at his pretty young wife his brow crinkled in thought. How had he ever gotten so lucky to have married such a beautiful young girl? Not to mention father two children with her. From the moment he had plucked her from the ocean floor in Port Royal’s harbor and ripped her corset from her lifeless body to revive her he had been taken by her. Of course back then he would only have confessed to the physical desire for her.

“Jack?”

“Hmm love?”

“Thank you.”

“For what darling? I haven’t done anything.”

“For bringing me back home to England. It means a lot to me.”

“I’d do anything t’ make ye happy love.”

“I know….that makes me the luckiest woman in the world.”

He grinned flashing his gold toothed smile at her.

“No darling….m’ the lucky one.”

“Jack….I want to show you where I grew up.”

“I’d like that Izzy…m’ going t’ show ye a place where I spent some time as a little boy.”

“Yes I was wondering why we came to England.”

“T’ meet some of me family love.”

“Who are we meeting?”

“Me Great Aunt Colleen an’ me Great Uncle Harmon MacAllister. They live on a huge estate called the Four Winds….ever heard of it?”

“The Four Winds? Of course I’ve heard of it….it was the enormous estate just a little ways away from our estate Eden Glen. I always thought that it was magnificent with the sculpted hedges and all the white rose bushes that lined the cobblestone walkway leading up to the gray stone mansion. Oh it was beautiful! As a little girl I used to pretend that I was a princess and that it was my castle.”

“Ye pretended that was yer castle darling?”

Her cheeks turned a bright shade of pink as she looked down at her lap to avoid looking into his dark eyes that were now glittering mischievously.

“Yes…but I was a little girl and was being silly. Never mind that now Jack.”

“I think it’s adorable that ye used t’ daydream bout me family’s estate love….yer wonderful imagination is jus’ one of the things I love bout ye.”

“Jack?”

“Hmm?”

“Do you suppose that you were there the same time that I was living in London?”

“I suppose it’s quite possible love.”

“Oh I can’t wait to see the inside of the mansion! I always imagined how marvelous it would look on the inside when I was a little girl.”

“Ye will get t’ see it soon enough love.”

Jack smiled to himself as he thought of how her face would light up when she finally got to see the inside of the mansion that she had pretended was her castle all those years ago. Another thought that kept him smiling was how happy his Great Aunt Colleen would be to find out that he had married such a wonderful young woman. Yes it had been a good idea to take the trip to England. He had a feeling that being here was going to strengthen their bond even more. The rest of the carriage ride was spent in silence as they looked out the windows of the carriage at the sprawling countryside that surrounded them. They would arrive at Four Winds just before sunset and Jack couldn’t wait to show his family off to His Great Aunt and Uncle.

A/N: Okay good place to stop…..I’m kind of a bit unsure as to how I want this part of the story to go. I’m thinking about introducing a character from Jack’s childhood….a girl that he grew up with and shared his first real kiss with. Let me know what you think!!
