Chapter 5 - Trade and Discoveries
Title: The Siren
Author: Hellborne (the_ferret_mom@yahoo.com)
Age Rating: 18+
Disclaimer: Characters, if you saw them in the movie, not mine. See the Mouse. Story, mine, but I make no money. He does, but not on this.
Typing convention: / is used for thoughts. * - * - * is used for scene changes and passages of time.
Summary: Will has been abducted by The Siren, a beautiful pirate captain with a crew of women. It's Jack's job to get him back, and he seems scared about it. Many surprises.
Warnings: H/C, angst, lemon, rape, Het.
Betas: The two greatest BetaGoddesses in the world, Pendragginink and Littlebird! You're both truly magnificent, and I wouldn't be able to write half as well without you!
Notes:
Prolix: Yes, Angeline is albino. I did read up on albinos though, and their eyes can be golden (would have been brown), light blue (would have been standard blue), violet (would have been , bu, but they have less pigment than the previous), or pink (no pigment). The eyes that are golden or light blue can deal with the sun just fine...the violet or pink have problems...
Jackfan2: Yes, but having his “weewee” cut off got more attention... Besides, if I can’t torture Jack, what other fun could I possibly have? And as for cliffies, if I don’t leave a cliffie, I don’t get reviews...I notice little things like that...
Rose:
Bittersweet: I noticed that about aff.net. One time I added a chapter, had to refresh four times...so I managed to “add” four of the same chapter...and had to delete three of them. And with all of the refreshes I had to do, I had to bring up an extra screen to keep track of how many chapters were there or I’d have accidentally removed the ONE copy I’d wanted to keep! I think Ayla needs more donations for a bigger server...aff.net is getting too popular for the one she has... and as you can see, here’s your next chapter...
A/N: This chapter was written during our homeless phase, with my depressed muse going rabid. So hit the REVIEW button to make me feel better so that maybe the muse will cheer up and give me some happy plots! Remember, I want your HONEST opinion of the story...good, bad or ugly, I love the reviews!

Chapter 5 - Trade & Discoveries
"Damn you boy!" Angeline ran to Jack. "Bill, get Henrietta! I don't want to lose Jackie!" Bill ran out.
"But you told me you'd kill him if I said anything before he made his decision."
She took Jack's collar away from Will. "Look, whelp. Would you pull the trigger on Bill? Nor would I on Jackie. He's my brother! I only told you I'd kill him so that you'd stay quiet and not do anything stupid."
"Oh, he's an expert at that." The voice was weak, but at least Jack was alive.
"I'm so sorry baby brother. I didn't mean you to be shot. The boy must have somehow made his da believe I'd hurt you."
"I'll be all right. Just stop the bleedin' and I'll be fine eventually. I think ye got me in the collarbone. Feels like it."
Bill ran back in, followed closely by a middle-aged woman with a bag. Kneeling, she placed two fingers on Jack's neck under his jaw and felt his pulse. Satisfied, she examined the wound. She fed him some rum and dug in for the ball. As she got it out, she frowned. "He'll be hurtin' for a while, Cap'n. Where do ye want 'im?"
"Put him in Nina's bed. If she doesn't want him, she can sleep with the crew. But if he's right and it's his collarbone, he'll need a real bed, not a hammock, so it's Nina's bed for now at least."
"It's his collarbone all right. Bill, you and the boy carry him GENTLY to Nina's cabin. I'll get everything together with Nina." She left.
Will watched her in shocked silence. Too much had just happened for him to assimilate for a moment. Angeline took what Will recognized as a locksmith's tool out of a pouch at her hip. She grabbed Will's collar, rotating it, and touched the tool to its edge. Will heard a faint click and the hinge sprang open. She put the collar on the table, still holding on to Jack's collar. She put one hand on Will's shoulder as she held Jack's collar in the other. "You're free to go, lad. Ye didn't keep to the accord, but I don't want ye after what happened. Bill, you too. Go to the Pearl or wherever ye want, but get off of the Rose. Bill, you knew better than to think that I'd harm Jackie. Now take my brother to Nina's cabin and leave." She unclasped Bill's collar and put it on the table with Will's.
Will protested as she snapped the ornate collar around Jack's neck.
Jack interrupted. "Whelp, I agreed before you stopped me. We have an accord. You and your da go to the Pearl and set sail. If you're still alive, I'll see you in two years in Tortuga."
The Turners lifted Jack as carefully as they could and carried him to the first mate's cabin, laying him on the bed.
"Jack...I'm sorry. I didn't want you to be trapped here. I know how much you love the Pearl." Will was in tears.
"Don't worry about me, lad. Angeline will keep me alive and well, but you've angered her beyond what I'd consider 'safe.' You two get movin' before she has ye flogged." Will fled the room. "Bill, take care of your boy. He's had a hard life, and he deserves better."
Henrietta entered with a lot of bandages and a broomstick, and started tightly bandaging Jack, making sure to bandage the broomstick to his chest. "It won't do much to stop the pain, but it should remind you not to try to move."
"Thank you, mistress."
She gently hugged him, avoiding his shoulders. "Save that for the girls, Jack."
He smiled. "All right, then. Thanks Henri. You always were my favorite."
She grinned. "Save THAT for when you're feelin' frisky."

Angeline was looking at a map as Will ran in. She looked older, somehow; more frail, as if Jack being hurt aged her. "Angeline, you can't keep Jack. His ship needs him. I'll stay if you want. I won't question orders ever again. Just let Jack go back to the Pearl."
She sighed. "Look. I don't need a cabin boy who won't follow even the simplest instruction. What would happen if I let you stay and we got into a battle, eh? You'd probably get someone killed...probably me. Whelp, if I didn't love my brother as much as I do, you'd be flogged to within an inch of your life for what you did."
"Then do it. This was my fault. Send Jack back to the Pearl and have me flogged. I'll serve you loyally to make it up to you."
"And what would Jackie say about this, eh? If I did like you suggest, he'd order me blown out of the water to retrieve you. But I have other reasons for wanting my brother here for a while, and they're not yours to hear. You have my word that he won't be harmed. Now leave before I have you flogged before sending you to the Pearl." She turned away from him, and he noticed her shoulders shaking.
Will moved forward and put his hands on her shoulders to caress them, but she swung around fast, striking him away. There were tears in her eyes. "For the last time, Will Turner, GO." He saw a pistol appear almost magically in her hand, pointed at his chest. "You're not my brother, so I have no compunction against killing you." She cocked the pistol. Will turned and left, tears in his eyes, feeling miserable at what had happened.
* - * - *
"Why did Bill's whelp have to try such a stupid trick, eh Jackie?"
"Because that's what he does. Not meanin' that he's not intelligent...he just doesn't seem to think about his actions aforehand. Bill was never so impulsive."
"How are you feeling?"
Jack was lying flat on his back, his neck, shoulder and entire upper torso bandaged tightly to keep him from moving. "Like I've been shot, love. Why was the bloody pistol loaded in the first place?"
"I've never met anyone like him before. I was afraid I'd have to shoot HIM."
"Now Angel, why do you want me here, eh? You've got one of the best crews in the world, love. Even the crew of the Pearl can't compare. So what do you want with ME?"
"I'm glad to hear you say that about the Rose, baby brother. I'm giving her to you."
"WHAT?! Angel, I have a sh-"
"Jackie, I'm dyin'. Henrietta made me go to a land doctor. I have only a few more months at most, and then you'll be alone in the world, baby brother. And I want to see you happy before I go."
"But Angel, I WAS happy before you kidnapped Will."
"No, Jackie. I mean to see you married by the time I die." Jack looked horrified. "Now none o'that. There's no heir, Jackie. It's up to you to make one. Now, of all the women of station that you know, who would be a good mother to the Markham heir?"
"Angel, I only KNOW one woman of station, and she's less than half my age. She doesn't even LIKE me!"
"But she can be made to understand. We need an heir."
"Angeline, my dearest sister."
"Your ONLY sister."
"Yes. My WONDERFUL sister. I am not going to marry Elizabeth Swann. Among numerous other reasons, Will Turner would kill me!"
"Oh so THAT is his lady that he threw me aside for? She must be something special. Just find SOMEONE. I don't care, as long as she's aristocracy."
"Christ in a cannon Angeline! I don't want to get married!"
"We have a duty to our father, and after I'm gone, it will be up to you. I'm just making sure that there IS an heir, savvy?"
"It's not like I'm a respectable choice for a husband or a father."
"Then we'll make you into one."
* - * - *
"I know it's been four weeks, Angeline, but I'm telling you it's not long enough for a collarbone to heal. Ask Henri."
"I did. She said you'll be all right."
"Angeline, I feel ridiculous, and this rig is killing me!"
"Well, you'll have to make due with it. The party is tonight, and you're going to have to dance with the ladies. That rig keeps your shoulder as steady as possible so that the movement won't keep the bone from healing. Now, help me into my gown."
Jack called a couple of the men in to lift Angeline from the bed and dress her, then put her into the wheelchair she was now confined to. He brushed her hair himself, kissing her forehead when he finished. "You look beautiful, my Angel. I expect you will be very popular."
"This party is for you, not for me. And if that commodore recognizes you because YOU made landfall at Port Royal too often, you'd better be able to father a child from the gallows."
"I know, Angel. Don't worry. I'm cut and shaved, bathed and clothed exactly the way you prefer me to be."
"Good. Then let's be off. And watch your accent. You can't sound like a pirate for this party. I want you married, not hanged!" Jack walked next to her as Henrietta pushed the chair.

A/N: Now, what makes this story more review-worthy than Pleasant Holiday? During our homeless phase, I’d just put in another chapter of that story and received ONE review! I got back and put in a chapter for it. ONE review! I put in THIS chapter of The Siren and got like EIGHT reviews in TWO days! Hey, I’m not complaining about this one...you’re making me feel better here. But my other stories beinbeing ignored. It seems like one or two people are reading it OFTEN and only left one or two reviews. Why? My slash stories usually get a lot more reviews than my het stories. So what makes this one so special? I’m curious...because I want to duplicate whatever it is that makes you want to review (other than my begging). So, this time, I not only would love reviews of the story...I’d like to hear what makes any of my stories (this one, Witch, etc.) review worthy. So please hit that REVIEW button and let me know, savvy? Heck...PLEEEEEEEEZE?
