Part Five

A cough caused Hector to let go of Rheia, they turned and saw King Priam.

"Tis a restless night" He said before walking over to Rheia, "It is late my dear you may sleep now."

She gave him a weary smile before bowing her head. She moved to leave but he stopped her.

"Goodnight my daughter" Priam said sweetly before kissing her forehead, "May the gods protect you."

Rheia nodded before rushing off.

Hector groaned knowing his father would say something,
"Father it is late."

"Yes it is Prince of Troy" Priam moved to sit near the fire. "Come rest with me."

Hector walked over, then took a seat across from his father, "Why are yp sop so late?"

Priam watched as the light dance across his son's handsome face, "I was restless and wanted to see you. I was surprised to see the Lady Rheia here. I heard the exchange between you to."

Hector darted his eyes for a moment, fearing the look gracing his beloved father's face. "You need to understand.."

"No my son, "Priam raised a hand, "I understand more than you know. You've lost what is most precious, but I warn you son of Kings you'll lose more if you do not open yourself to life."

The king's words slide against Hector's skin like a blade, tearing at him. He knew his father was a wise man, but still he felt that life was for the living and that he was cursed. No longer would he feel joy, love. Hector, Prince of Troy was forever darkened by the death of his wife.

"I will leave you now, the gods smile on you my son." Priam slowly rose reaching out touching his son's cheek.

Hector looked up and saw tears in his father's eyes, something d ned never seen in his life. Words could not come as he watched his father disappear into the night.

The following morning Prince Astyanax was up early telling his father he wanted to see Lady Rheia. Hector nodded telling the boy to not stay long.

Rheia accepted the company of the young prince without haste. She picked him up into her arms loving the sound of his laughter.

"So what shall we do today?" She asked.

"Umm father said I must not stay long." He looked sad.

"You can stay as long as you like." Rheia told him, knowing she'd have words with Prince Hector because of this. But she did not care, she would spend as much time with the prince as she wanted.

"Where is the little prince?" Paris asked when he found Hector in the great hall.

"He should be with the servants in my house." Hector told his brother, "He is not there?"

"Nay, he's not." Paris answered, "He must be with Lady Rheia."

Hector shook his head in fury throwing his hands up, "By the gods that women does not listen!"

Paris frowned, "Brother, why such a burst of passion? Your son is in good hands."

"I am the only person who knows where the best place for my son is brother." Hector grumbled before storming out. Paris sighed then followed his brother.

"The sky is bt" t" Rheia smiled down at Astyanax as he sat next to her.

The little boy smiled up and pure joy radiating from his face. She hugged him tightly before hearing someone fast approaching. Rheia pulled back and smiled down at Astyanax.

"Must be a treat for you." He giggled as they looked to see whom was coming.

Rheia sat up as he eyes found Hector walking towards them with a look of fire in his dark eyes.

"Father" Astyanax jumped up and ran to his dad.

wit with Paris" He told his son in a stern voice. Astyanax looked up wondering why he must leave when he'd been having such a good time with Rheia.

"But.." His voice shaky.

Rheia stood, wanting to go to him but she did not. Hector looked down at him and told him again to go with his uncle this time raising his voice giving his son a clear command.

Paris moved taking his nephew's hand, "Come now."

Astyanax again looked up his father with tears in his eyes before following his uncle.

Rheia clinched her hands in fist, "Save your words Prince Hector." She moved past him walking off down the long stairs into the gardens. Anger filling her all the while telling herself to calm down. He was not her son, she should not feel so strongly on this matter.

Hector followed walking up to her, "I will speak and you will listen."

Rheia turned, "My lord all your words will pass like the wind, I am set and nothing will change that. Your son will be apart of my life and you have no say."

"How dare you" he growled in an almost animal like sound. "I am his fath" He" Hector charged her, grabbing her hard pulling her to him. "My words will not pass like the wind, you will pass just as with all of your kind. My son will not know the pain that fills my heart, the shattered dreams that haunt my nights! You'll not bring him pain!"

"The demons that haunt you should not pray on your child, he'll know love like all do. How can you deny your son happiness!" Rheia jerked against him, "You are damning your son by treg hig him second. Holding onto death using it as a shield. The brave Hector shook in fear by death."

Hector eyes widened at her statement, no one spoke every spoke to him like that. He gripped her arms harder not caring that he would leave marks on them. His face was inches away from hers, eyes blazing with anger he could feel his control failing. She was shaking against his grip but still she waited for his response.
