Chapter 5

Sam was too tired, even for regret. She felt her eyes close and gave into the desire to sleep.

She awoke in the morning, still in bed and wrapped around Dom. The events of the previous night hit her in an onslaught and she refrained from the urge to slap herself.

She gently untangled herself from Dom’s sleeping form and looked at the clock.

Shit, she was racing in an hour. Making a mad dash around the room she pulled clothing on as quietly as she could, not wanting to wake Dom. She stopped and stared at Dom. This wasn’t the plan, she thought bitterly.

“Too much alcohol and not enough good sex.” She muttered as she tried to rationalise her actions.

“Yep, that’s it.” Sam wasn’t entirely happy with the excuse but thinking about it made her brain hurt. Shrugging, she headed out of the room.

About half way to the race track she found Mia.

“Hey, I was just heading to see if you were still alive.” Mia laughed, and then laughed harder as Sam flushed a deep red.

“Is my brother still alive?” Mia continued mercilessly.

“He’s asleep, you better go wake him up or he’ll miss his race.” Sam muttered before stalking off.

Mia giggled as she watched her go; she knew where Sam and Dom would end up when she left the room last night. A tiny bit of worry tinged her thoughts as she made her way to the motel room, Sam didn’t look entirely happy with the events of last night.

Reaching the door, Mia knocked before letting herself in. Dom raised his head from the bed and blinked groggily at his little sister. He glanced around the room.

“Where’s Sam?” He asked.

“She left already.” Mia explained.

“Same old Sam.” He spoke angrily and Mia frowned, she thought that the reunion had cleared the air.

“I don’t get it Dom, you two obviously had fun last night, yet you are still acting like you hate each other.” Mia ground out, some people were just confusing.

“She left, without a trace. End of story.” Dom snapped.

Mia just glared at him.

“So last night was about hating each other?” She snapped back.

“Last night was last night, it doesn’t change anything.” Dom sighed.

“I really don’t get it Dom, why do you hate her so much?” Mia asked relentlessly.

Because she fucking left. I fucking loved her and she left!” Dom exploded. Mia winced, she knew how Dom had felt about Sam but he had never voiced it.

All of the anger seemed to drain out of him and he rubbed a hand across his shaved head and let out a sigh.

“She was the first person I ever really loved and when I needed her the most she just disappeared.” Dom looked at Mia and shook his head, dragging all this shit up was a bad idea.

“Mia I need to get dressed and get to my race.” Mia just nodded and stood outside the door of the motel room while he got dressed. She watched as he stalked out of the room and headed back to the races.

Mia stared at the room, it was a mess. The least she could do was tidy up; it would at least give her something to do.
