The Aftermath
Wills eyes fluttered open, light streaming through his lashes as they flickered, he looked up to see the wooden slats of the roof of the smithy. He could feel his lumpy mattress under his back.
he thought with a groan as he sat up and his head spun. Will looked to the door as he heard footsteps to see Elizabeth Swann come into view.
“Oh Will, you’re up. Im so glad.” She cried and hurried over to the bed and sat herself down next to him on the lumpy mattress and brushed a hand over Wills forehead.
“How did I get here?” he asked her with a slight groan.
“Some man shouted out for help, everyone came out of the saloon and to where the shouts were coming from. Who ever called for help wasn’t there but you and a dead man were in the alley, James helped me drag you back here.” She explained and handed him a glass of water.
Will took large gulps of water which flowed down his parched throat, he put the glass on the bedside table and turned back to Elizabeth.
“What happened Will?” she asked.
Will looked at Elizabeth his eyes narrowed in thought, “I don’t quite remember Liz. I went out with the client, having paid Master Brown for my services with something. I went out with him and he slammed me against the side of the building.” Will sat up, letting the blood flow back through his arm.
“I think that the services he paid for was of the sexual variety, if I knew that I wouldn’t have gone out with him. I tried pushing him away but he hit me and then everything is a blur.”
Elizabeth nodded at her friend. “I was speaking with James about what happened and how the… gentleman was dead and who did it, he seems to think that you did it but I explained to James that you don’t know how to fire a gun and never would. The only other thing that he could come up with was that Jack Sparrow was the one to shoot the man and save your life.” She explained.
Will looked at Elizabeth like she had grown another head, “why on earth would Jack Sparrow save me, a nobody?” he asked confused.
Elizabeth slapped Will on the arm, “I never want to her you call yourself and nobody ever again. Do you understand me William Turner.” She scolded.
Will’s eyes were wide and he nodded in understandment, “Of course Liz.”
Elizabeth nodded, “Good. Now go and freshen up, you are coming to my house for dinner, father is out of town at the moment and I would rather you being there.” She explained.
Will moved to sit up and climb out of his bed, “Do you want me to stay the night?” he asked her.
“If you wouldn’t mind. Sometimes a young lady like myself shouldn’t be left alone.” She explained turning in a flurry of skirts into the small kitchen.
Will sighed as he watched his best friend leave his room at the smithy and proceeded to pack up some clothes for the night and for the next day. Once that was done Will laid down and curled around his pillow and drifted off to sleep once again.
#Dream#
Will fought furiously and skilfully in the battle, but when he came up against an opponent a foot taller than him and twice as heavy, his skill was of no use. He managed to lock their swords together, but he was being pushed back. Unfortunately, he failed to notice his enemy’s other hand reach for his dagger until it was too late. The dagger was buried deep into his gut and there was nothing he could do. His opponent moved on, knowing Will was as good as dead. He fell to his knees and would have fallen backwards had not the arms of Jack caught him.
#End Dream#
Will sat up from his bed with a frightened gasp, sweat pouring from his forehead, he opened the pocket watch on his bedside table and saw that not even an hour had passed since Elizabeth left and he drifted off again.
With another heavy sigh, something that he seemed to be doing a lot of today, and started to make his way down the stairs to finish a little bit of personal work he had been doing.
*************
Jack watched Will walk down the steps of the smithy, he could see the purpling bruise that was forming on the young mans face. He watched as long fingered hands stoked the fires before picking up the tools for him to get to work.
Jack watched as Will walk over to where he was, this was it. He would confront the lad, he wanted to know more about the one who had been taking up his thoughts the last day and a half. The feelings were quite annoying to the famous outlaw and he couldn't afford any unnecessary distractions. Jack moved into the light as the lad came closer.
"Hello Will." He said and watched as the lad turned to him with wide startled doe brown eyes.
