chapter 5
It was day now. David was trying to sleep but he couldn't take his mind off of Joey. He felt bad about leaving her alone on the cliff. What if something bad happened to her? He flew himself back to the ground. He instantly started pacing.
“God, why can't I stop thinking about her!” he yelled loudly.
“Awe man! Come on. I'm trying to sleep up here!” said Dwayne looking strait down at David. And then it caught on to him. “What are you doing up in the middle of the day!”
“I can't sleep. I can't focus!” David yelled. Dwayne gave him a strange look at made his way down to talk to David.
“Why can't you sleep?” Dwayne asked coolly.
“I can't keep my mind off of this girl. She's like haunting me or taunting me or something!”
“What does she look like?”
“She's the most beautiful thing you'd ever see,” David replied day dreamingly, “she got hair as red as blood with these soft green eyes. She pick pocket like a mother fucker!” Dwayne gave out a grunt. David continued “She's got the best personality. And she turned me away! She was indifferent to me! That has never happened to me! I saved her last night and she tried to be nice. And then I just left her at the cliff last night. Now I can't help but think if she is alright or not.”
“The boys and me were down at the cliff last night!” Dwayne said hesitantly.
“Did you see her?”
“Yeah we saw her. She wears glasses?" David nodded," But, we did more then just saw her. We kinda messed around with her a little. Then she fell and hit her head on the railroad tracks. So we brought her back here. We were going to feast on her but then she passed out again and wasn't any fun so we sent her back home.”
“You did what,” David said angrily, “all this time I was worrying about what happened to her and now you tell me that you guys...my own brothers played around with her. Taunted her?”
“I'm sorry man. I didn't know she was your prey!” Dwayne replied pleadingly.
“That's right she is my prey and I better never catch you screwing around with her! You hear me?”
“Yeah man I hear you. Cool it down a little she was ok when we left her. You knew the strangest thing? She is living under the boardwalk. She's a runaway. Now go back to bed or you'll be to tired tonight.”
