CHAPTER V – THE NEXT DAY

CHAPTER V – THE NEXT DAY

“Shit!!! I’m late…” she looked down on herself…took off the coat and changed the red top for a white one just like it picked up her black long coat, brushed her teeth in a hurry and grabbed the backpack while running to the door and ran to work.

“Afternoon Ang… felling any better?”

“Yah… sorry I dosed off, I’ve been doing that a lot lately, fell asleep on the job yesterday…jezzz”

“I can see that, you didn’t even take off your make-up…. But it looks good on you; you should wear it more often”

“Thanks Cass”

“Listen… I don’t know what happen… but I took you there… so I’m sorry”

“Don’t be we are ok…besides nothing happen, I probably just freaked out or something” She said, not very convinced of herself.

“But you don’t look good… did you sleep at all?”

Ang didn’t answer.

“Ang please talk to me…I know you do not usually speak about your private life, but we have been friends and co-workers for the last 5 years…you can trust me!” Ang looked at her friend and tilted her head.

“Ang what’s wrong with your neck??” Ang saw the worry in Cass’s face.
“What do you mean…?” Ang touched her neck.

“You got a burn mark… didn’t you see it this morning??” Cass moved closer to her.

“No!! Remember, I was late, left home in a hurry… what is it?”

“Looks like a mark…” Cass got closer to examine it.

“I felt a burn yesterday in the disco. Can you draw It?!” Ang said apprehensive.

“I think so…” Cass grabbed a pen and paper and drew a kind of a glyph… some dot’s with vertical and horizontal lines entwined and encircled by a ring “That’s close enough…What do you think?” Cass said showing it to Ang. Ang’s face went white as paper and she reached for a chair to sit down. “What? …You got that look on your face again girl... please tell me what is going on!!!”

“Tha…that’s a glyph!” She said stuttering.

“A What?”

“A glyph... You don’t wanna know!”

“Hey, yes I do, I’m your friend and someone made a stupid prank of burning you neck last night to a place I took you, so WHATHA’FUCK IS A GLYPH!” She said out loud

“Shhh, we are in a public library Cass”

“Fuck that…what are you hiding?”

“I’m not hiding a thing….” She sighed, took a deep breath and started to brief Cass. “Do you remember that day dream I had the other day here?” Cass sat down; she had a feeling this was going be a long talk.

“How could I not remember… you were breathless and all red in you face!”

“Well, I’ve been having that dream for the past 4 month, sometimes once a week, sometimes everyday…but never during day time or waking hours, that was the first time…”

“Go on friend…” Cass encouraged her softly.

“Yesterday I fell asleep here and had another dream… I was flying over an ocean” -Cass’s eyes opened wide- “ And then ….I was in pain, but not my own, then, like as if my mind went back into time I saw 8 people killing a ninth person and… and I felt her pain!! But didn’t see her face!”

“Jesus girl…what a bad dream…”

“Bad dream!!! I’m having them awake!!!!” Ang said loud

“So what are they? You’re the one that believes the occult stuff…”
Ang dropped her head between her knees.

“When did this start to happen more often??” Ang looked at Cass with a questionable look.

“The book!!!” Ang spat out to the air.

“What book Ang?”

“Remember I asked you a couple of days ago if any new books had come in…?”

“Yah… I do.”

“Well… I finished reading one of my Bram Stoker books and I was just going to take it back and get another one to read…”

“Yah, Yah, you book worm you!” Cass Said trying to loosen up the heavy atmosphere, Ang smiled slightly.

“Yah…well I found one, there is no record for it but I took it home and I have been reading it, yesterday I tried to read it here, but I couldn’t, Lord knows why, I was enjoying it… it… it seams…”

“What…don’t stop now!” Cass said exited

“Well I can only read it at night… or at least that’s what it seams” Cass lips went into a huge Whow!

“What is it about?”

“You’re going to make fun of me…say I’m loosing it!”

“Try me girl!”

“ The Vampire Lestat’s Journal!” Ang said looking at Cass.

“Jesus, girl... Are you serious!?” Cass said almost laughing, but she immediately chanced her tone as soon as she noticed the disappointment on Ang’s face. Ang was not the sort of girl to get carried away with stupid stuff, she had strange habits, but she wasn’t a liar. “Do you think the dreams are related to the book?” Cass asked seriously.

“I don’t know…”

“Just stop reading it! That’s it, problem solved, don’t read it anymore!”

“Cass… the dreams existed before I found the book… and they are not threatening, at least I don’t feel scared, especially when they’re with him.”

Cass laughed. “Oh those you like hum! Nasty girl!”

“Nasty, you’re out of your mind, every time I have one of these dreams I feel everything!” Ang said with an evil grin.

“Everything!?” Cass said opening her eyes wide.

“E-VE-RY-THING!!!” Ang replied practically spelling it.

“Wow girl, I want dreams like that!” The friends laughed.

“Feeling any better?”

“Yah, thanks Cass!”

“One more thing…” Cass said pointing to the drawing.

Ang sighed. “That’s a vampire symbol, a mark, inflicted to…” she paused and smiled “To protect you!!”

“Protect?! Vampire symbol?!” Cass was confused.

“Vampires are not just like… well, if they exist, they are not as movies and books make them look like, there is always good and bad!”

“There ARE! You are speaking as if they exist!”

“Well… do you know for sure they don’t!?” Ang asked straight.

“Well… hu hu… no way I’m not gonna even think about that…I think someone is making a joke on you. Maybe someone that knows you’re a vampire freak, and his laughing right now because he’s getting to you!”

“Maybe…” Ang looked at the time. “Girl it’s six already you should go home, take care of your life!”

“Time flew didn’t it? Are you gonna be ok? I mean, alone in here?”

“I was never afraid of being alone… the problem is... when I feel I’m not alone… but I don’t see anyone! That’s the problem!”

“Have you felt that?”

“OH YEAH! But don’t sweat it, I’ll be fine, I always am…” she said unconsciously rubbing the new made mark on her neck.

“Ok… see you tomorrow, if you need me, call me ok?”

“Sure… and Cass…”

“What?” Cass turned around to look at her friend

“Thanks, for listening to all my bullshit”

“Hey…” Cass said grabbing her face. “Just because I don’t really believe in those things, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, and you can speak to me about them if it helps you out! I respect you, and if you feel this way, you must have your reasons, and I respect them too ‘K!”

“Thanks Cass” She said holding her friend.

Cass left, the rest of the afternoon went calmly. Ang felt better having talked to Cass and time went by fast.
