Chapter Four:
'Through the summer and the fall,
we had eachother,
that was all.
Just she and I together,
Like it was meant to be'
- 'When she loved me' By Sarah McLachlan
Arafat stared from one to the other.
Obviously they recognized eachother from somewhere.
"Is there something I should know?" He asked innocently.
Elizabeth glared at the tall Indian man. "You knew nothing to begin with, I would not want to confuse your brain further"
Jack smirked. She still had that same old mouth.
The one that could shoot you down with a comeback before you can even think of one yourself.
Elizabeth continued to stare at the Pirate.
If she told the truth, then she was awfully glad to see him.
A familiar face in a not so familiar land was always a very good thing.
But she also knew that if she was with Jack Sparrow, then trouble would not be too far behind.
"Why are you here?" She asked him sternly.
Jack looked offended. "If you are asking me if I am here to rescue you, then you are going to be bitterly disappointed, Lizzie"
She glared at him.
Same old Jack Sparrow.
No matter if he was in a different country or not.
"Don't call me Lizzie"
Arafat seemed to sense the tension in the room.
"Were you once lovers?" He asked curiously.
Elizabeth laughed.
Jack nodded, grinning mischeviously.
"We were once inseperable...until the day she took advantage of me on a deserted Island....It is amazing how much you can't remember in the morning when a bottle of rum has been gripped by your fist"
Jack smirked over at her, seeing the blood level slowly rise in her face.
"You foul, retched, evil little cockroach!" She shouted at him.
Arafat winced. "I can see why you broke it off with her...she has quite an acid tongue..."
Elizabeth was pacing around her quarters now, her Sahri bellowing out around her.
After the initial shock of seeing her had finally subsided, Jack realised that he may have been in deeper water than he first thought.
'Why would I be led to Elizabeth? She's no use to me....'
Jack looked at her whilst she walked around the room, looking angry.
Was it possible for someone to change in just over a year and a half?
Somehow her body structure had become more femanine, and her skin radiated pure oestrogen.
Somewhere along the course of time, she had become a woman.
She stopped pacing and threw herself back onto the soft cushions laid out on the floor.
"I have had enough of all of this!" She announced through clenched teeth.
"YOU!" She pointed at Arafat. "Get out!"
Arafat looked very startled. "But I need to know if you will be letting him 'see you', Hynaptura." The tall, skinny man told her, in an almost pleading voice. "If he chooses you to then he will need to pay"
Jack frowned at the man.
Elizabeth went even more scarlet in the cheeks.
"He most certainly will NOT be 'seeing me'! Now GET OUT before I THROW YOU OUT!!!"
She threw a cushion at him, which narrowly missed his head.
Arafat bowed quickly and left without a word.
Elizabeth looked over at Jack then.
Suddenly her mood seemed to change, almost as if the conversation from moments ago was long gone, and in the place of it was an entirely different chain of events.
She was no longer angry or agitated.
She looked desperate.
For what, Jack was not so sure about.
"Have you come to rescue me?" she asked him in a whispered hush.
Jack smirked at her. "What would give you that idea?" He asked her. "I am here on other business, I didn't even know you were here until I saw you just now"
Elizabeth's heart sank.
No one knew she was here. They all must have thought that she had died on the ship...
...along with Will....
She tried to hold back the pangs of pain that suddenly attacked her heart.
"Then how did you end up in here?" She asked him curiously.
It took her a moment to register what she had just asked.
The suddenly she remembered Where she was....
'I keep forgetting this is some kind of whore house...'
She blushed.
"I'm looking for something" He told her simply, walking around inquizzitively. "Something of great importance, and it just so happens to be in India"
She looked at him curiously. "And what would be so important, that you would want to travel halfway around the world to claim it?" She asked him.
He narrowed his eyes at her.
"That would be none of your business"
Elizabeth smirked this time. "Because if it was so important to you, I would think that you might want someone to help you find what you are looking for"
"Ive got me crew with me" Jack replied, putting his thumbs into his belt buckle and looking sideways, out of the window.
Elizabeth was running out f ideas fast.
"Are you going back to Port Royal?" She asked him suddenly.
Jack shrugged. "Might do...I haven't decided yet" He looked over at her. "Why?"
Elizabeth got up from her place amongst the cushions and walked over to him quickly.
"Take me with you!" She demanded.
Jack laughed. "After the last time you were on my ship? If you don't mind, I would rather give it a miss, thanks"
She glared at him.
"You can't just leave me like this"
"Oh, I think you'll find that I can" He told her, a slight smile etching his features.
"Sometimes I can really hate you, do you know that?" She told him, her acid tongue surfacing once again.
"And sometimes I really love to hate you" Jack answered back, taking some grapes from the fruit bowl next to him.
Elizabeth seemed defeated.
She sat back down on her cushion and stared at the floor.
For six months this had been her only home.
She knew no one and no one seemed to want to know her.
On the day of the hurricane, everything was perfect.
She was finally a married woman.
And then it struck the boat.
No one survived but herself and the Captain...
Will was lost forever.
It was the night of their wedding.
It was supposed to be memorable and exciting.
It was memorable for only one thing.
She had lost her love that night.
The Captain and herself had made their way to land. They had both agreed to help eachother out in any way possible...but it turned out the 'any way possible' was exactly that...
And now here she was, amidst a world where nothing made sense, and everything could be bought for a price.
Even a life.
"I miss everything" She said more to herself than to Jack.
Jack grunted indignantly. "You haven't missed much. Theres nothing back in Port Royal that you couldn't get here"
"I have helped you out so many times, Jack" She told him. "Am I not owed the same thing in return?"
Jack thought about that carefully.
She had a point really.
The more he thought about it, the more he realised that he COULD use her to his advantage.
Maybe if he used her advice and took her with him, then she could help him find the T'hak Mahara...afterall, she said she knew the country better than he did.
"Please, Jack?" She asked him.
The emotion within her voice suddenly stirred something within the Pirate that he did not think he had felt before.
No one had ever really needed his help before.
Sure, he had been helped many times, and by many different people...but to actually help someone else?
He must have been losing his mind.
"If you want my help...then you are going to have to do something for me in return..."
And thanks for the reviews, i really appreciate them!!!! :-D Keep em coming!!!
