Undercover Mission
Chapter 5
Luke let out a breath as he draped his cloak over his shoulders. It was time. He looked over at Mara. She wore a black jumpsuit, her lightsaber hanging from her utility belt. When they received directions from Tre’Lawn, they had immediately sent those directions to Han and the others and began getting ready.
“Luke, there’s something I want to tell you,” she said.
“What is it?” he asked as he sat beside her on the sofa.
“Well, if anything happens to me…”
“Don’t. Nothing’s going to happen. Not like that,” he interrupted.
“Luke, you don’t know that. If something should happen, I just want to thank you. You saved me in so many ways. You finished my training, gave me your friendship, and became my best friend. I’ll never forget that,” she replied.
“You’re welcome. I should thank you as well. You saved me after that disaster with Callista. You bring out the best in me Mara Jade. You always have,” he whispered.
Mara placed her hand on his cheek. Luke leaned foreword and their lips met in the softest kiss Mara had ever had. She felt as if in that tiny kiss, he was trying to meld his very heart and soul with her.

Luke and Mara met up with Han and Lando outside the warehouse where Tre’Lawn was meting them. Rogue Squadron was already strategically placed around the building and ready to go.
“We’ll be waiting for your signal kid,” Han nodded.
“Trust us, you won’t be able to miss it,” Mara smirked.
“Be careful. Tre’Lawn is dangerous. Especially when he’s cornered,” Lando advised.
“We’ll be careful. Come on,” Luke said.
Luke and Mara covered their lightsabers and entered the warehouse. Tre’Lawn and all six of his body guards were waiting inside. Luke and Tre’Lawn shook hands before Tre’Lawn kissed Mara’s hand.
“You are such a charmer. Be careful Marston, I just may take up with Tre’Lawn here,” Mara laughed as she wrapped her arm around Luke’s waist.
“Oh I wouldn’t let you get away that easy love,” Luke smiled.
*Get ready Luke,*
*Ready when you are Mara baby,*
As Luke and Tre’Lawn began discussing the exchange, Mara got in position. After they reached the warehouse, Mara had placed a detonator outside. Using the Force, she set it off. The warehouse shook and Rogue Squadron, Han, and Lando rushed in.
It was pandemonium. Smoke, laser blasts, and the glow of Luke and Mara’s lightsabers filled the warehouse. Tre’Lawn’s bodyguards were tough, but finally they were subdued. Tre’Lawn made a run for it, but Mara took up the chase.
“I’ve got Tre’Lawn!” Mara yelled.
“Mara don’t!” Luke cried.
Mara caught Tre’Lawn before he could get out of the building. “Well, well. Mara Jade. I should have killed you that day,” Tre’Lawn hissed.
“Yes you should have,” Mara growled.
“I’ll just have to kill you now,” he said.
The fight began. Tre’Lawn had improved since Mara had last seen him in action. Then again, so had she. Tre’Lawn pulled out his blaster just as Luke reached them.
“Mara!” Luke screamed.
“AAHH!” Mara yelled.
Mara dropped to her knees, clutching her left shoulder. She looked up as Tre’Lawn stood above her. The muzzle of his blaster pointed at her head. He glared at Luke, who froze a few feet away.
“So, you are the infamous Luke Skywalker. I will admit, you two were very convincing. Too bad it cost you your partner in crime. I’m walking out of here with Jade. I know quite a few people who will pay a high price for her,” Tre’Lawn grinned.
“Think again asshole,” Mara whispered.
In a split second, she surged to her feet and flipped over his head. When he spun around, Mara’s fist connected with his face. Tre’Lawn flew across the room and slammed into the wall. Unconsciously, Mara had used the Force when she punched him.
Luke secured Tre’Lawn and rushed to Mara. “You alright?” he asked worriedly.
“Nothing a bacta patch and a healing trance can’t cure,” she answered with a smile.
“You two alright?” Han questioned as he and Wedge walked over.
“We’re fine. Come on, let’s get Talon, his crew, and get the hell off this rock,” Mara replied as Luke helped her to her feet.

An hour later found Luke and Mara on board her ship JADE’S FIRE. Han and Lando were riding back on the ship Luke and Mara had borrowed from Lando. Talon was back on the WILD KARRDE.
“Mara, Luke, thanks. Thanks for coming after me,” Talons said.
“Don’t mention it,” Luke smiled.
“Come on Karrde, did you honestly think I was going to leave you in Tre’Lawn’s hands,” Mara chuckled.
“Thanks all the same. You coming back to Corusant Luke?” Talon asked.
“Well, I really need to get back to the academy,” Luke sighed.
“Well, the next time you’re both on planet, I owe you dinner,” Talon replied.
“Deal,” Luke laughed.

Luke watched as Mara slept. After patching her arm, Mara put herself in a healing trance. Luke sighed as he sat next to her cot. He reached over and stroked her cheek. Though he had found her disguise appealing, he preferred the real her. The emerald eyes, flame colored hair, and fiery temper.
‘Oh Mara. How do I tell you?’ he thought. “I love you Mara Jade,” he whispered, knowing she couldn’t hear him.
