Will approached John, who was at the helm,in a starry night. The lad said:
"Captain?"

"Aye,Will."

"Could I speak to ye?"

The Captain motioned to the First Mate to take the helm and allowed Will
to go with him to the Captain's quarters.

Will entered and sat on the chair next to the Captain's bunk.
"So,what is it,Will?" John asked.

"Where are we stopping next,Captain?"

"Oh,it's a small port next to Port Royal. Did you live there, didn't ye?
So ye know that we can't stop there, bloody lobsters everywhere, but we
need to stop near there so that one of our mates can go and restock the
ship."

"Are we going to attack Port Royal?"

"Not this time." John sighed. "Just shopping."

Will smiled. He liked John. He liked the way the Captain didn't harm
people or pillaged cities unless it was a necessity. There were so many
hidden islands such as the Isla de Muerta with uncountable treasures.
There was no need to harm people looking for treasure. After all, treasure
was what mattered the most,no matter where it was.

"So,what did ye want,Will?" John knew Will wouldn't have called him to
talk inside his quarters unless it was an important reason.

"Captain...I'd like to leave yer crew. You were very good to me. But I
need to go on with my life."

John frowned: "So you don't want to be a pirate anymore, lad?"

"I don't know what I want. I just know that I have to go on searching
for what I want. I grew tired of the sea,Captain. But I'm very grateful
for the way you took me in as your crewmember."

John just nodded. He didn't know what to say. He liked Will; he was the
son of the man he had loved most in the world. Will was almost like his
son.

But Will was sure he wanted to leave the sea. It was ironic that they
had stopped just in Port Royal. Was he able to return to his old life?
To become a blacksmith again?

Will was sure he didn't want that life anymore, but he didn't know what
to do. Maybe he would look for Norrington. The man had been extremely
helpful last time. Will knew he could trust him. Maybe he could give Will
some advice.

As soon as the ship stopped,Will said his goodbyes to the crew and left.
He took a shortcut by the woods and arrived at Port Royal just before
midnight.

The docks were silent and calm at that hour. Will sat on the ground and
kept looking at the stars and the sea for a long time. John had given him
part of the treasure he kept on the ship,so Will had enough money to start
any kind of life he wanted to start. He would stay there at the docks
for a little time more and then would look for an inn to sleep.

The waves broke on the sand, making that noise Will so loved to hear.

Distracted as he was,he didn't hear someone approaching. This someone
sat next to him and said:
"Beautiful night,isn't it?"

Will almost jumped. It was Elizabeth. She smiled with glee; obviously
she was really happy to see Will again.

"Elizabeth!" Will said, but not so happy. He hadn't forgotten the way she
had rejected him because he had been raped. It was like she had been
disgusted and Will couldn't forgive a thing like that.

"So...how've you been?" He asked politely.

"I'm fine." She sighed. "Married with a child."

"Congratulations." Will said sincerely. "So,whom did you marry?"

"Norrington."

"I see," Will felt a tiny twinge of jealousy, but it dissipated soon.

"My son's name is William." She said proudly. "Me and James named him
after you."

Will smiled more sincerely this time: "Thank you."

"Would you like to meet him?" Elizabeth asked warily.

"But..." Will said. "Won't your husband be bothered by that?"

"Of course not,Will, come on!" She was a bit surprised by Will's politeness.
Well,he'd always been polite, but it seemed he was even more so now. But
she imagined it was because of what she had done to him. Trying to
reacquaintance herself with Will, she led him to her house.

Will was a bit insecure, but as he entered the house,Norrington looked
at him with surprise in his eyes, but also happy to see Will again. So,
the lad felt more comfortable. And he spent the night talking to the
Commodore. He was polite to Elizabeth, but she caught his resentment with
her between the lines.

Just before she went to sleep, tears fell from her eyes.

They asked Will to sleep at one of their guest quarters, and then in the
next day,he would meet William, son of Elizabeth and James Norrington.
----

John Tyler and his crew stopped at the small port near Port Royal. Will
had left them, and John, though sad, wished the best for the lad. He asked
some of his crewmembers to restock the ship and went to a tavern himself.

There he found Jack Sparrow.

He seemed happy, drinking his mug of rum and talking to some members of
his crew. John recognized Gibbs and Annamaria. He approached Jack, who
greeted him in a slurred tone:

"Captain Tyler! Come join us."

"Jack! I didn't know you were here. Where's the Pearl?"

"Docked in a cove near here. Ye know,I've been in so much trouble with
Port Royal lobsters to risk me Pearl to be docked so near."

"I see," John said.

They drank for hours. But John felt he needed to tell Jack where Will
was. The lad was so near now,John thought! He couldn't stop himself this
time. John didn't know if Jack still longed for Will, but he felt the
need to tell him.

Just as John was trying to figure how to tell Jack that,Jack asked,
surprisingly sober:

"Have ye heard any news of Will Turner?"

John sighed deeply.

"He's just left me crew."

Jack looked at him, slightly confused. Of course he had the rum to thank
for that. But he didn't understand what John meant. Had Will been with
him?

"He was wiff ye?"

"He was." John said.

"Where's he now?" Jack asked, and the yearning in his tone told John he
still loved Will.

"He went to Port Royal."

Jack stood there, silent, whether pondering what to do or dizzy by the rum,
no one could know.

But as realization came through him,he passed out.

Members of Jack's crew took their Captain to his cabin, and Jack slept
peacefully.

It was a dream. Will was back. He welcomed Jack in his arms. He kissed
his lips slowly and carefully,as if afraid. Hell, the lad had been raped
not just once, but twice. Of course he was afraid,Jack reminded himself.
But Will was so beautiful and so responsive! Jack kissed his throat and
the lad let him do it. Will let Jack do anything he wanted to him.

Jack woke up inside his cabin on the Pearl. How the heck he had gotten
there,he didn't remember. He must've drunk too much this time. Images
of Will danced inside his mind and Jack didn't know if it had been a dream
or something else.

Why didn't it seem just a dream?

Why had it been so intensely real?

And why he was sure he had heard someone - he didn't know who, though -
talking about Will last night? Will was near. He was near, and Jack felt
it with all his soul. He felt Will with all his soul while he dreamed.
It wasn't possible the lad was very far.

Jack stood up,fighting his hangover, and as soon as he left his cabin,he
saw Annamaria,whom he called:
"Aye,Captain?" She approached Jack.

"Do ye know whom went to talk to us last night at the tavern?"

"Ye mean Captain John Tyler?"

"Aye! That was him. I didn't remember. Do ye know where he is?"

"He left this morning." It was noon. "Said he needed only to restock."

Jack nodded, and left Annamaria's side, worried. John had told him about
Will. What he had told him,Jack couldn't remember, drunk as he was.
'Dammit.'

Jack tried to be sensible. It'd been two years since he didn't see Will.
He had, somehow, survived the boy's loss. And even if they met again,Jack
wasn't sure if Will would still want him. So,it'd be best to move on with
his life. 'Don't think about Will anymore,' he said to himself.

But it was impossible. He'd just had a dream about the lad. It seemed
everything he'd felt for Will once had come back full force. 'Sleep again,'
Jack told himself. 'When I have another dream,I'll forget about this one
with Will.'
And to sleep Jack went.
----
Will awoke around ten at Elizabeth's house. It was a weekend and the
Commodore was at home with his wife and child. Will smiled; it would be
great to meet William Swann Norrington. The child was but one-year-old.

As soon as Will left the guest's bedroom,he saw him. It was a cute little
thing who seemed just to have learned how to walk. He crawled and tried
tentative steps. Will fell in love with him. It was the cutest kid he had
ever seen. 'With a mother like that,' Will reminded himself. 'Of course
he'd be cute.'

"Look,Will,it's your uncle William." Elizabeth smiled at the older Will,
who smiled back. "Isn't he beautiful?" Elizabeth asked him, proudly.

"He is," Will nodded. "Good day,Commodore," he said, looking at Norrington,
who was having breakfast.

"Good day,William. Come,have some breakfast."

Will sat down and ate some of the bread, juice and cookies, not wanting to
eat too much and be a nuisance. But the truth was that he was really
hungry to eat only those. But,even though he was a pirate to boot, having
pillaged, plundered and even killed men,he still maintained his propriety.

He then talked to Norrington about his need of looking for a job. The
treasure John gave him wouldn't last forever. And Will had always been
one for saving, not wasting money. So,he needed to work and save his money
to whatever he needed in the future. The Commodore advised him to look
for a well-known merchant sailor and ask for a job in a merchant vessel.
Will declined politely. Could he really work as a merchant sailor after
having killed some of those men,as a pirate. Anyway,he thanked the Commodore
for the advice, had some fun with William and Elizabeth and then left the
house. Truth be told,he didn't want to be around Elizabeth for long, and
she seemed to notice that too.

Will went to an inn and payed for a room for the night. It was almost
sunset and Will decided he wanted to go out. But where to go? Port Royal
had never been that interesting when it came to leisure. He remembered
that company was the most important thing at those times, and decided to
come back to the small port where he'd left John and his crew. Maybe
his friends were still there.

Will went back to the port by the woods, just how he had come. But he felt
disappointed when he learned John's ship had sailed away that morning.
Sighing,Will went to a tavern and ordered rum. 'Jack would be proud,' he
thought fondly. Now it was Will's favorite drink.

Just as he was about to ask for the second bottle,Will heard that numerous
people were walking into the tavern. He tried not to watch; he knew better
than to stare at scallywags, but he heard *that* voice and nearly fainted.

It was Jack Sparrow.

He was talking to his mates and, bloody hell,he was /loud/. Anyway,Will
couldn't discern exactly what they were talking about,as he'd lost the
beginning of the conversation. But it certainly had something to do with
treasure. Will smirked; of course Jack would talk about treasure.

Will thought about hiding, but soon realized how ridiculous it would be.
Why would he be afraid to meet Jack again?

The former blacksmith turned around and Jack had sit in a table on the
other side of the tavern. Will watched him silently. What he thought
were forgotten emotions were surfacing again and making him long for Jack.
He had to approach him...to talk to him...anything. It didn't matter.

But Will's daydreaming couldn't last much. Jack finally saw him.

The pirate captain's eyes widened and he looked away, but Will noticed he
had been seen. He felt nervous. Did he have to stand up and talk to Jack?
Did he have to be polite? Could he run away?

Will realized he didn't have to do any of those things. He didn't /have/
to be polite. He didn't /have/ to stand up and talk to Jack. Damn his
propriety. And,Will realized,he /could/ run. But he didn't want to.

So,what did his heart tell him to do? Trying to find it out,Will ordered
another bottle of rum.

Jack was watching Will intently. His heart was hammering inside his chest.
He wanted to talk to the boy,to ask him to come and drink with Jack and
his crew. But was he allowed? Would Will want it? Jack realized he couldn't
know if he didn't ask. And,as he wasn't as shy as Will,he stood up and
went to him.

Will's heart was pounding so loud that he wondered if someone could hear
it. Jack knew Will was watching him approach, but didn't let it stop him.
He approached Will. They looked at one another silently. Jack asked:
"Can I sit?"

Will just nodded dumbly,but surely.

"So,Will...what are ye doing in a place like that?" Jack tried to ask
conversationally, but he could feel his voice tremble a bit. Will didn't
notice. He was too worried about /his/ own trembles.

"I...I was l-looking for some friends,b-but...they're not here..."

"Looking for pirates?"

"Yes," Will nodded. "John Tyler's c-crew."

Jack noticed Will's voice trembling and had to fight the urge to take that
boy into his arms and say to him everything would be alright...but Jack
didn't really believe that. Will seemed he was trying to hide from
embarrassment. And he really was. Will was very ashamed of what he'd done
to Jack. Funny how this was his stronger feeling at that time. Damn hiroprropriety!

The silence between them was deafening, even in a crowded tavern. It made
them feel uncomfortable. Will was fighting the urge to cry. He was happy
to see Jack again, though ashamed. Not knowing what to say,Will blurted
out:
"So...what are ye doing here,Jack?"

"Well,I just had to restock." He took Will's bottle of rum and took a
large gulp of it,shamelessly. "Can I?"

"You've already drunk it!" Will pointed out, smiling. Someway, that smile
made Jack feel happy. But he didn't dare to think Will could still want
him. It wasn't probable.

"That's right," Jack tried a smile too. "So,have discovered the wonders
of rum,lad?"

"I think so," Will's shyness came back and he looked away, blushing. Anyway,
he spoke his mind: "Actually,I...was even thinking that...you'd be proud
of me."

Jack's face brightened. "I am."

Then, the silence again. They drank, but were uncomfortable, especially Will.
He didn't know what this man did to him still...his body was reacting to
having Jack so close...he wanted to touch the other pirate's arm and pull
him to touch Will...

Jack was watching Will, but not maliciously. He was imagining what Will
could be thinking about to be so flushed. He tried to speak again:

"So...how are ye feeling,Will?"

"Wha-what do you mean?" Will responded quickly, trying to defend himself.

"Well..." Jack's words seemed to falter. "That...thing...that happened
two years ago...are ye alright,lad?"

"Ah," Will breathed relieved. He was thinking Jack was asking him how he
was feeling /right now/, Will snorted at what his answer would be 'Well,
Jack, you got me aroused, alright?' He said out loud:
"I'm better," Will managed a genuine smile. "Thanks for asking,Jack. I
think I healed."

Jack hesitated in his next question, but he just needed to know.
"So,have ye found someone to help you,eh?"

"No," Will's eyes locked with Jack's,almost if they screamed 'It's you
I want' but he looked away quickly.

"I'm sure you had opportunities," Jack was looking at Will in the eye.
"You are a pretty lad."

Had it been another person,Will would have hated being called 'pretty'
like a bloody lass, but coming from Jack's mouth it was the best praise.

"No,Jack. I didn't look for anyone. I couldn't. And I'm not sure if I
still can."

Jack felt strongly for him. Again, all he wanted to do was to carry that
boy to his quarters and make love to him just like he deserved. But how
could he do it? There were so many unspoken words between them! So many
feelings that were left behind because of fear. So many wounds. Could
they truly love each other again? Jack was extremely pessimistic, and
couldn't help the tear that rolled by his cheek.

Will noticed it too and felt like crying as well. It wasn't fair. Somehow
he knew Jack cried because of what could have happened between them. He
just knew it.

Without thinking,Will wiped Jack's tear with the back of his hand. His
own eyes were watering, too. They stared at one another, and Will felt his
tears fall too. And so,trying to make himself feel better or make Jack
feel better,he didn't know,but he said:
"I'm so sorry,Jack. I'm so sorry I left you like that."
And he threw himself in Jack's welcoming embrace and cried.
Jack kissed Will's forehead lovingly and said: "Don't cry. I couldn't
/not/ forgive you,lad. I just couldn't."
But Will continued to cry as if the world would end.
Jack stood up harshly, taking Will with him,and led him to the Pearl. Once
they were there, after they rowed a boat to it,as the Pearl was hidden,
Jack said:
"I think we have much to talk, don't we?"
Will just nodded,still sniffing.
"Do ye want it?" Jack asked again.
"Yes," Will nodded. "We need to let the ghosts go away, don't we?"
Jack nodded, smiling sadly, and led Will gently to his cabin.
