Uninvited Guests pt. Two
Dom looked up from his plate slowly, hearing the roar of an engine coming up the street.
"Who the hell.." Letty muttered, turning to meet Dom's gaze.
Jesse glanced across the table, remembering the last time someone came racing up their street and the bullets that followed - he gave Lora's hand a nervous squeeze from under the table.
"Who is that?" She asked, looking across the table at Letty, Vince and Leon.
A red Eclipse pulled up on the street, parking quickly.
"The busta.." Vince growled, standing up from his seat as Dom turned to meet the intruder's gaze.
Brian emerged from his vehicle slowly, hands raised as if by gunpoint.
"What the hell is he doing here?" Letty asked, as Dom stood also.
"Oh, shit.." Jesse muttered, looking at Mia who sat in shock.
"Dom! Dom, just hear me out.. please." Brian started, keeping his hands raised to assure he wasn't a threat.
"Sit down, Vince." Dom said calmly, pointing to his chair before he walked off down the lawn.
"What are you doing here?" Dom demanded, trying to keep his cool.
Brian ran his hand over his face and sighed, trying to find the words he had practiced for nearly a year.
"I just.. had to see her again, Dom." He answered simply.
Mia stood to her feet slowly, taking the few shaky steps towards her brother.
~
"Mia.." Brian whispered, staring up at her from the shelter of his car.
Dom looked at his sister, seeing a spark in her eyes that had faded out a year ago.
"This busta saved Vince's life and kept me out of jail for the second time. It's your decision now, Mi. I won't get in the way." Dom muttered, looking at Brian for a long moment before he turned and walked back up the yard towards the BBQ.
"Why now?" Mia demanded, crossing her arms in front of her. "It's been a year and twelve days. Why show up now?" adding.
Brian closed the car door and walked up to meet her, "I didn't think you'd want to see me. I got my badge taken away and had to go to trial for withholding evidence against the FBI. It's been a rough year for us both but Mia.. I swear on my life I never meant to put you through any of this."
"Dom and the others were just a case to me when I came here last summer but they grew into my family and I know I fucked up but I am sorry for hurting you." Brian explained, placing his hand on her smooth shoulder.
Mia shivered at his touch - she had missed him so much.
"This between us - isn't better - but I'm.. glad your here.." She assured, allowing him to hug her tightly.
"God, I missed you." He whispered into her hair as she hugged him back.
Lora, Jesse and the others - sans Dom Vin Vince - clapped cheerfully at the reunited couple.
~
"So much drama." Lora muttered, laughing with Jesse as they finished their last game of poker.
The others had retired into the living room to watch movies after Dom had made Vince thank Brian for saving his life.
"I, uh.. thanks, man. you know." Lora laughed at the memory ofce'ce's poor attempt to thank Brian.
"They had drama way before the heists. Vince has always had a thing for Mia but Brian's got her heart, you see that. Everyone does." Jesse explained, watching as she shuffled the deck again.
"I think that's romantic." Lsaidsaid, almost to herself. "Two people finding each other and falling so hard, it's like you just know it's meant to be." adding.
Jesse took this in, never letting his eyes fall from her as he watched the cards flutter between her fingers. "So, how do you know it's meant to be?" He murmured, "I don't know.. you just feel it." Lora explained quietly, turning to deal the cards.
"You're beautiful.." Jesse whispered hoarsely before catching her bottom lip between his own and pressing their mouths together gently. His hands moved around her waist, caressing the softness of her exposed back as he held her in his arms.
The smell of wild jasmine filled the air sending his senses in over drive as one hand found her silky hair, gently running his fingers through the short locks.
Finally, after an eternity of time that left them both numb with awakened hunger, they pulled away. Lora's lips were inches from Jesse's as a slow e cre crept to the corners of her mouth.
