Tribute
Princess Lemon
6) Chair

Chamberlain walked through the halls of the castle late one afternoon. It had been several weeks since his banishment and he had somehow found a way to be reinstated to his position and welcomed back into the castle... much to his and the other SkekSis' surprise. Even now, the surprise was still tugging at his brain as he walked down the hallway as he wracked his brain to figure out why SkekUng had allowed him to returned...when a familiar figure graced the corner of his eye. Chamberlain stopped in his tracks and turned to see...

"Sakura!" Chamberlain gasped in surprise. At the sound of his voice, Sakura stopped in her tracks and turned her head towards the surprised SkekSi.

"Chamberlain?!" Sakura asked as he approached her.
"Surprised?"
"Yes, what are you doing here?"
"I was allowed back into the castle. What are you doing here?"
"I was chosen."
This last comment brought another look of surprise to his face, "In the tribute?"
"Yes."
"Who picked you?" Chamberlain asked curiously.
"Chamberlain...I belong to the Emperor..." Sakura said, surprising him once again. Chamberlain opened his mouth to speak once again but the clearing of someone's throat interrupted him. The two looked in the same direction to find a not so pleased SkekUng glaring at Chamberlain as he approached the couple.

"Sakura, would you please leave us," SkekUng requested in quite a stern voice. Sakura bowed and quickly took her leave down the hall she was originally heading down. The moment she was gone, the tension between the two SkekSi was so thick, you could cut a ceremonial sword through.

"Chamberlain."
"Emperor."
"Listen and listen well. She is the tribute that I have chosen, she is the one I have been waiting for and she is my wife," SkekUng said in a venom dripped voice as Chamberlain merely nodded.

"As such, she is not to be touched by anyone else but me. Follow this one simple order and you just might get your turn to pick the next tribute. Is that understood?"
"Yes sire," Chamberlain said and bowed his head. SkekUng stared at him for a moment, weighing his actions in his mind before he turned and left with a furl of jewel laden cloaks. The moment he was gone though, Chamberlain raised his head and sent a looks could kill glare in the direction that SkekUng had left.

Without another word, Chamberlain turned and left in the same direction he had came as he numerous curses ran through his head. Ever since that night he spent with Sakura under the Sakura tree, he had found him self infatuated with her and hoped to claim her at the next tribute...

It was later that night when Chamberlain crossed paths with Sakura once again.
"Sakura..." he started but was soon surprised when she grabbed him and rushed into the nearest unlocked room, which turned out to be an dusty old unused room with nothing but an chair in it.

"Are you crazy!? We can't be seen together," Sakura hissed as she tried to keep quite, despite her anger.

"I assure you, this was surely an accidental meeting," Chamberlain stated in his most reassuring voice. Sakura stared at him for a moment before finally sighing and relaxing just a moment.

"Do you have any idea how much trouble we'd get into if we were seen together...especially alone?" Sakura demanded with a light glare.

"I have an idea," Chamberlain admitted, with a light smile.
"Please don't joke about something like that," Sakura said with a deep frown.
"I'm sorry," Chamberlain said after a moment, caught off guard by the look on her face and the hidden concern in her voice.

"Thank you," Sakura said with a soft smile, which Chamberlain returned and this was followed by an uncomfortable stretch of silence.

"I guess we better we get going before we're missed," Sakura said as she started to turn away from him.

"Wait," he almost shouted. Sakura stopped in her tracks and turned back to him.
"Can't we talk awhile before we leave?" he asked.
Sakura stared at him as she weighed the options over in her mind, "I don't see why not."
Chamberlain smiled as he walked over to the chair and sat down in it. Sakura stood there and watched has he lowered himself onto the chair and was once more astonished by the fact that it didn't break under his weight. It was like most of the furniture was blessed or something...but then again it was either made of really strong wood or wood reinforced with steal.
"So. You were the Chosen One, and by the Emperor no doubt," Chamberlain stated. Sakura merely nodded with a slight frown, Chamberlain noted this.

"I hear he has made you his wife, made you our Empress," he continued.
"Yes, he did," Sakura said, quite flatly.
"You don't sound pleased by this."
Sakura sighed and fidgeted slightly before she placed one hand on her hip and the other behind her head as she looked to her left.

"Well?"
"Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that I haven't had my essence stolen from me and I'm not walking around like the undead...but..."
"But?"
Sakura bit her lip and whined slightly.
"This being Empress thing, I'm not entirely comfortable with it. I've never had this much power before...and I've been treated like this before either."
Chamberlain merely nodded, "And what of your first night with the Emperor?"
"Our first time was...interesting," Sakura stated, which caused Chamberlain to raise an eyebrow.
"Interesting?"
"I don't know, I don't have anything to compare it too since it was my first time..."
"Your first time?"
"Yeah...it was a pleasant experience and all...but...I just don't feel comfortable when I'm with him."
"I see."
"Not like I first met you though, I wasn't uncomfortable at all...I wasn't even worried."
"I noticed."
Sakura smiled and sighed lightly, "I'd give almost anything for it to be that night again. To be back under that tree just talking with you." As Sakura had this far away look on her face, Chamberlain couldn't help but stare at her as his own mind drifted back to the night when they first met. He had been wandering around, having been banished once again, and he came across her sitting under the Cherry Blossom trees. When he first saw her, he thought she may have been a spirit, but he soon found that she was real and quite beautiful up close. Since then, he found himself infatuated with her and plotted on finding a way to getting her to the castle to be with him, yet finding out that SkekUng had already chosen her had thrown a wrench in his plans. Even so, he still wanted her and he still...

"Sakura."
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
