I do not own the Nightmare on Elm Street movie series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Long time no see
Will thought that getting to know Shadow was the best way to tell if she was really a good person. He seemed to trust her and didn't mind the idea of me hanging out with her by myself. I knew Daddy wouldn't like the idea but he called and said that he was going to be gone a few more days. I know it's wrong for me to do something that I think my dad would be against. Of course I'm not the first teenager to do it and it's not the first time I've done it.
After school I walked over to the Rite Aid. I was in need of some Aspirin. I had taken my last one the night before and I had been having some bad headaches since I met Shadow. I guessed it was because I had had a lot on my mind.
When I walked in I was surprised to see Shadow at the counter. She must have just gotten out of work because she wasn't dressed like her normal self. She was wearing a simple black shirt and blue jeans. I was surprised some place had hired her. I expected her to have a really hard time because of her last name.
It looked like she was picking up some prescriptions. I walked up to her and tapped her shoulder. This must have surprised her because she jumped and turned around.
“Sorry!” I said laughing. “I didn't mean to scare you.”
“It's ok,” she smiled. “I'm always a little jumpy. It's nice to see you. Sorry I haven't called you. I've been really busy moving all my junk into my house.”
“I figured you'd been busy,” I explained. “I wanted to know if you wanted to hang out some time.”
“Sure,” she said picking up the bag of medicine. “You can come over to my place if you don't mind a few million boxes. I'm on my way over there right now.”
I opened my mouth but stopped. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. She was daughter of the man who had killed tons of children and he had killed my mother. This was a good idea. Just because she was his daughter didn't mean she was anything like him. Maybe her mother had been a really good person.
Her mother...who was her mother...
“Maybe later then,” Shadow said when I didn't say anything.
“No now is great,” I said getting a hold of myself again. “I was just thinking of something. I have to pick up a few things. Can we met at your house?”
“I'll wait for you,” she said. “I'll just go put this stuff in my car.”
“Alright,” I sad as she walked away.
The woman behind the counter was giving me a funny look. I guess this was because I was being nice to Shadow. I walked over to the Aspirin and picked up a few bottles. When I walked up to the counter the woman frowned and rung up my items. I returned the took as I walked out of the store.
Shadow was sitting in a run down Ford waiting for me. She reached over and opened the passenger's door for me. I got into the front seat and smiled. Maybe Shadow really didn't plan on walking in her father's footsteps.
