Chapter VI

The General’s room did not have all the pomp and circumstance her room held. It contained everything a male in his position would need; a bed, bath, eating area, sitting room, and a large sparring room.

Santana walked into the sitting area as the General closed the door. The smell of hot food came to her senses. He did get the best choice of the meals.

Aid’ian walked up behind her and stopped inches from touching her body. “Are you hungry?”

Santana turned slightly to see his cheek almost over her right shoulder. She could smell his strong male scent. Her body filled with strange heat. Aid’ian could smell her arousal.

“Yes I am hungry.”

Her voice was soft and brought aggression to his body. He moved closer. “Then let me quench your hunger.”

Santana felt his arm slowly surround her waist as he directed her towards the eating area around the blind corner.

The table was a smorgasbord of food.

“I guess you have a healthy appetite.”

His grip around her waist tightened pulling her into his body so his lips were close to her ear. “For some things I have a voracious appetite Santana.”

He slowly released her to allow her to sit down. He could feel her reaction and knew it was only a matter of time before she came looking for the attention he desperately wanted to give her. He pulled his chair next to hers and sat down beside her.

Aid’ian began to fill her plate with foods that she loved and that surprised her to know that he knew what she liked. Was he watching her?

Santana looked at his strong profile and felt the heat encase her body again. Aid’ian heard her soft sigh and looked at her. She stared back into the piercing light blue eyes and forgot to breathe. He seemed to be getting closer to her. Santana made a sound like a whimper when his lips were inches from hers.

“Santana” His purr was deep and vibrating.

Loki watched his daughter ring Aid’ian room, as they stood outside of it. She pulled her hand back to finish smoothing down her dress and straightening her hair.

“Expecting someone desperate inside daughter?”

Nola snorted. “Why do you always think that I am looking for someone?”

Loki chuckled “I can not see anyone looking for you daughter. Most males prefer a female that they can trust and that his family will like.”

Nola crinkled her brow as she looked at her father. “I am trustworthy.”

Loki snorted at her declaration. “Only to yourself Nola, you are your mother’s daughter.”

The door slid open and Aid’ian stood there with an unreadable expression.

“Aid’ian” Loki growled out and then smiled.

“It smells as if you and Santana are having a feast of an Elder inside. Have you room for two more?”

Santana smiled when Loki walked into the room. His purr filled her body and she chuckled until Nola walked in behind Aid’ian. Santana gripped the knife on the table as Nola sat down beside her father.
The Elder’s daughter smiled at her enemy and then turned her attention to the General sitting down in his original seat.

“I could scent your intoxicating air for miles Santana. I do not know why Aid’ian thought I would not find you, beauty is hard to hide.”

Aid’ian grunted. “I must agree with you Elder.”

Santana released the knife and smiled at them.

Nola growled softly at them ignoring her beauty and began to fill her plate.

Loki poured everyone a cup of the hot liquid sitting in the center of the table.

“I hear from the council of Elders that Pria’ne was badly beaten yesterday.”

Nola quickly took the cup of liquid and began sipping it.

“What did they say happened to him?” Santana asked nodding at Loki for filling her cup.

“They would not tell me.” He replied crinkling his brow. “I thought everyone loved me.”

Aid’ian snorted.Santana looked at the General and smiled. “Everyone loves you Elder Loki.”

She turned back to Loki after finishing her statement realizing she was staring at Aid’ian as she spoke.

Loki picked up his cup. “She does not?” He cocked his head towards Nola.

Nola set down her cup and sighed. “Must I tell you all the time Father?”

Loki took a sip of the hot liquid and purred. He took his time selecting his food as Nola waited on his answer.

“No, once you hear the same ridiculous words repeatedly they lose their humor.”

Her glare he could feel and smiled as he continued to fill his plate.

“I hear that Nola was there and knows what happened.”

Loki grunted at the General. “She will not tell me anything.”

Nola closed her mandibles slightly to shield the nervous quivering of her lips. “It was nothing you know how Pria’ne…. is Father.”

Santana frowned and Aid’ian leaned over and began whispering in her ear. Jealousy ran through Nola’s body when she felt the purring from him rather than hearing it.

“I thought you knew everything that happens on your ship General?”

Aid’ian’s light blue eyes met Nola’s brown in a challenge. “I want to hear your account of the incident.”

Loki wiped his mouth. “So do I.”

Nola took another sip of the hot liquid and decided to mix some lie with the truth to save her honor somewhat.

“Pria’ne came to me while I was helping the cleaning staff. He wanted to know where Santana was. I would not tell him and walked away from him several times; but he followed me to the Archives that day in question.”

Loki grunted as he ate.

“You told him where I was because he said you did.”

Nola nervously looked at Aid’ian then back at Santana. “Why would I tell him that, I knew that you two were not speaking anymore?”

Santana glared at the lying female across the table. “I have never spoken to Pria’ne and you are lying as always Nola to get out of trouble.”

“I did not think he would try to touch you Santana.” Her smile made Santana grip the knife again.

Loki stopped eating. “Nola, I know that your Mother is to blame for your less than worthy genes; but you have no excuse for putting Santana’s life in danger other than you wanted it to happen.”

“Father I did not know the how deep his desire was for her. I meant no harm to her and if he hurt her then I am sorry.”

She never apologized. She was planning more danger for Santana. Aid’ian knew without a doubt.

“I know that you are not sorry Nola because you do not know how to be humble.”

How dare this Ooman speak about her as if she knew her well? “I was angry at you but I did not wish him to harm you.”

“I arrived in time before anything happened.”

Nola began eating. Loki growled at her.“You are no better than Tro’net. He uses his Father’s name and you do the same with mine.” Loki turned away from her.

“If Mey’er were here now, I would kill him myself for thinking that your Mother was a suitable mate. I would kill him for asking me to care of you if anything were to happen to him. If he knew that your Mother would leave at the first chance she got why make her your mate?”

Nola remained silent through out the Elder’s ranting. If Loki became angry, he would take his name from her and leave her uncovered. Nola had too many enemies for that to happen.

Santana watched the realization of her world ending run over Nola’s face. The Elder’s daughter looked across the table at her enemy expecting her to save her by turning Loki from his train of thought as she always could.

Santana picked up a piece of bread and took a bite. Nola glared at her. The soft bell interrupted Loki’s thoughts.

The Elder snorted. “Can one ever have a quiet meal here?”

“I was thinking the same thing.” Aid’ian heard Loki’s laughter as he walked from the room to the door.

Ron’zen was there waiting for his General when the door slid open.

“Gri’er wishes to speak with you he has a request.”

Aid’ian walked onto the bridge and Gri’er’s face was in hologram form.

“Aid’ian you look well.”

“So do you Gri’er, what do you request of me.”

Gri’er was Aid’ian’s first teacher. He was a gift to a five year old from his Grandfather. Most five year olds Human or Yautja would not be ready for such a thing but Aid’ian and his six-year-old brother were different. Gri’er knew this immediately the moment he met them.

“You are going to Mea are you not?”

“Yes I am.”

“I propose we meet there and train the Young bloods. Well, mostly mine.”

Aid’ian grunted.

“They require a stiff hand and I think there will be more to go around if some of your officers wish to help. Perhaps She’bach has some medicine for them.”

“She’bach did not come with us. Janvee is expecting another child.”

Gri’er grunted. “Then who is with you?”

“His daughter Santana is with me.”

Ron’zen looked at his General out of the corner of his eye. He wondered if his General knew that he purred softly when he said her name.

Gri’er hid his excitement at finally seeing the only female Aid’ian had ever mentioned in conversation.

“Good she can help Hor’le and Is’fa with any injuries that could occur from this training.”

Aid’ian heard humor in his shrill. “I will increase my speed and arrive at Mea in seven hours.”

Gri’er nodded. “I will see you and your clan in the morning, Peace to you Aid’ian.”

“Peace to you Gri’er.” He slightly nodded and the image faded away.

He expected to see his uninvited guests still eating his breakfast but all he found was Santana sitting there smiling up at him.

“It is still hot if you are hungry.”

Aid’ian returned to his seat beside her. “Mea is a beautiful and deadly place Santana. You must be on guard at all times. I know that Cri and Pi’tre have taught you some skill. However, I know She’bach and he has taught you more than just healing. You will need that in Mea.”

She nodded. Aid’ian moved closer. “Know this daughter of She’bach, I will be watching over you always. From morning to nightfall my eyes will be upon your body.”

Santana lowered her head trying to stop the feeling of lightheadedness from consuming her as he came closer.

“I will keep you safe from all harm Santana.” His strong hand lifted her chin and his lips claimed hers.

Nola paced her room angrily after leaving Aid’ian’s quarters. This was not what she wanted. She should be the one enjoying Aid’ian’s attention not Santana. Tro’net was her only hope of keeping the General away from Santana. She saw the way he looked at her it mirrored the General’s gaze. If he could take Santana from Aid’ian, she could have her Warrior General.

Nola stopped pacing and smiled. She of course would help that to happen without Tro’net’s knowledge. If the Elder’s son could not take her away from Aid’ian Nola was sure that her father’s name and power could help her hire someone to take Santana far away. She had heard from some of the Yautja in the army that there were those on Mea that liked exotic things and an Ooman unattached was the most exotic of things.
