Chapter 6

Author's Note: I apologize if this isn't as adult as some people would see it, but once again I stress that this story had problems on fanfiction, so I posted it here just to be safe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah had been gone almost a week. Jareth's mood blackened until the entire City was silent for fear of his temper raining down on them like brimstone. He stormed around the castle, dressed in black or blood red, never speaking in a voice quieter than thunder. His goblins hid whenever they were not needed, preferring life over laughter.

One day, Elithyl, Morrithyl, and Lamath came to visit. The Seers stood in a cloud of grey in his throne room, quietly studying the Goblin King.

"You've lost her." Elithyl stated.

"I didn't lose her." Jareth replied coldly. "She disappeared and I haven't bothered to search for her."

"A Moon Child cannot run free in the Underground!" Morrithyl snapped.

"She's not in the Underground, Morrithyl. Her magic touched the Labyrinth, giving it new life and more magic, but she herself is not here." Jareth said curtly.

"Well, where the hell is she?!" she demanded.

"Look not to the earth, look to the sky." Lamath stated quietly.

"What the bloody hell does that child mean?!" Jareth exploded, shattering a crystal against the wall. "Must she always speak in those damned riddles?!"

"You will address my daughter with respect." Elithyl said icily.

"The Moon Child is ruled by emotions. Anger is the most powerful emotion, behind that of love. Anger fueled her flight, but love will fuel her return. She has been taken by the Moon Goddess, once again, to be taught. Again, Goblin King, the world is nothing without balance."

Elithyl wrapped his arms around his wife and child. "Two weeks, Goblin King. Pray she is ready."

With whispers that sounded more like the wind than words, the Seers faded from view.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah screamed as the images flooded her mind. Words, tangled and spoken all at once, roared in her ears. Spells and rituals. Dances and protocols, truths and secrets. All flooded her thoughts. It was agony, to have it all forced into her mind, but deep down, Sarah knew she needed to endure it. Above her, she could see the face of the woman who brought her here, who was showing her all of this, who was giving her all of the knowledge to use her new abilities.

You test my patience, my wife, with this pathetic girl.

Oh please. You know as well as I do that this must be done.

There are other ways-

Like having your Sun Child teach her? The Moon Goddess scoffed, lightly kissing Sarah's forehead. The girl fell into a deep sleep, and the Moon Goddess straightened to face the speaker.

A man who was as gold as she was silver stood before her. Dark gold eyes stared at her, framed by wild hair, much like Jareth's. He stood tall, clothed in a tunic and breeches of gold. Boots of stiff leather shone with a polish, and his skin was almost as if he had been permanently covered in gold dust.

My Child is nothing to scoff over. He has done well these past 700 years. The Sun god growled angrily at his wife.

Please. The Moon Goddess put her hands on her hips and glared at the Sun god. Even after you claimed him as yours, the Tuatha De Danann still forced him to take the Goblin Throne!

He has done well with what he has been given. And his lands have prospered. Better than this little impetuous chit seems to be doing. He nodded at Sarah's sleeping form. Reminds me of someone I know.

The Moon Goddess threw back her head and laughed delightedly, then jumped on her husband. Laughing, he wrapped his arms around her waist and spun her in a circle, their silver and golden glows brightening with their contact.

Oh, husband, you know as well as I that this girl is perfect for your Child. The Moon Goddess kissed his forehead.

Perhaps. She's stubborn. He grumbled at his wife. Like you.

Laughing again, The Moon Goddess lightly hit his arms, hinting she wanted down. Letting her go, the Sun god placed her down but still kept his hands on her waist.

She will make him a fine wife. Her emotions will show the way through his illusions. And she will watch over him with kindness and love while he sleeps.

He'll protect her fiercely. The Sun god nodded, proud. As a Warrior should.

As a husband should. The Moon Goddess chided gently. Now, be gone. There is so little time left, and she still must learn more.

Impetuous chit. The Sun god grumbled, eliciting a laugh from the Moon Goddess. As you wish, so it shall be done, my badgering little love. The Sun god leaned down and kissed the Moon Goddess softly before disappearing.

Walking over to Sarah, the Moon Goddess woke her up. Are you ready to begin again, Sarah?

"Yes." She croaked out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jareth was pacing in his chambers when he felt the presence behind him. He froze before turning and dropping to his knees. "Hello, Father."

Oh, stop calling me that, boy. It makes me feel old.

"You are old." Jareth said mockingly before rising.

Be as that may, I could still take you. And I'm not your Father either. The Sun god stepped forward and gripped Jareth in a bear hug. Well boy, tell me what's going on!

"You were more of a father to me than my actual father." Jareth said quietly. "And I'm sure that you know of Sarah?"

Bah. He was too blind to see your potential. The Sun god waved a hand and dropped into a chair, facing Jareth. And if Sarah is the name of the impetuous chit my darling wife has bestowed her blessing upon, then yes, I do know.

"So that's why you're here." Jareth smirked at the Sun god, settling with ease into a chair opposite him. "The Moon Goddess has Sarah."

She is the reason I'm here, yes, but we both know you already knew where the girl was. I'm here to explain, son, why I chose you 700 years ago to carry my blessing.

"Every generation needs a Sun Child to protect the people and the land." Jareth waved his hand airily. "Yes yes, I'm well aware of the legends."

The Sun god bellowed with laughter at that. Legends?! Dear boy, those legends are just to make poor saps dream of being blessed! The true meaning is no where near as... poetic.

"Then what is the true meaning of the blessing?" Jareth said icily.

The Sun god is the protector of the lands, true. Warmth, light, fire, the ability to grow and harvest food, yes, all of that is true. I give my children abilities to aid in that. I may be the Sun god, boy, but I'm not all powerful. The Sun Children are my eyes and ears and hands in the Realm. They settle disputes and show the way when it is most often hidden. However, light often casts shadows. The Sun Children are created to destroy those shadows, to keep this land safe.

"So... I was created because you needed a warrior." Jareth said slowly.

You know as well as I that the Moon Goddess has always been able to see the future when I was too blinded. The Sun god leveled a steady gaze at Jareth. She saw the coming of disaster before the Seers, and she told me of everlasting darkness, of shadows that could not be destroyed by light. An ending of fire, and then nothing. I chose you, Jareth de Aisling, because there is strength in you, a strength meant to endure what will come.

"And Sarah?" he whispered, suddenly finding it hard to breathe.

Gah! That girl will drain my wife of her energies at this rate. Impetuous little chit is always craving the knowledge. The Moon Goddess has more mystery than I, more magic. Emotions are hard to control, but the Moon Goddess rules them. And now, so Sarah must learn to as well.

"But why her?" he asked, forcing himself out of his chair and started to pace around the library.

Why her? She defies you, stands up to you, and yet, deep down, she dreams of you. The Sun god chuckled as Jareth spun around to stare at him. The Moon Goddess rules the realm of dreams, boy. You can induce them with your Tuatha powers, but she is the one who sees them, who creates them. She knew Sarah's desires long before the girl admitted they existed. The Sun god sighed and rubbed his eyes. I'm surrounded by impetuous chits.

"When will Sarah return?" Jareth asked carefully.

When do you want her to return? The Sun god shot back. I'm sure the Moon Goddess would love to rest.

"I want her to return..." Jareth froze, then stared at the Sun god. "You knew, didn't you? That blasted story, her time here, everything!"

Of course I knew, you twit! The Sun god roared with laughter. How could I not? The Moon Goddess chose Sarah long before you knew she was alive! She saw her coming and prepared her. The Sun god leaned in close to Jareth, gripping the back of the king's neck. Do you honestly think she kept the story so close to her heart for nothing? She called you! She dreamed of you!

"She's broken." Jareth said bitterly. "She doesn't know what she wants."

If you mean that dreadful stint in the hospital, you obviously are a Sun Child. Just as dense as I am. The Sun god shook his head. Even after being told she was crazy, after being drugged, beaten, and raped, she still believed in you! She still dreamed of you! You fool, the girl loves you!

"What?"

The Sun god groaned and snapped his fingers. Jareth was blinded by a flash of bright gold light and opened them to find himself in a room made of pulsing light. A woman made of silver was greeting the Sun god with a loving embrace. That must be the Moon Goddess. Jareth thought, and looked around.

Lying on a table asleep, dressed in clothes similar to those in her dream, was Sarah.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He didn't remember moving, but he was at her side, staring down at her face. She was extremely pale, but still beautiful. The purple tinge to her skin was disappearing, replaced with almost silver. Her hair was almost its original brown color, with a purple tinge. It was her eyes that worried him the most. He wondered if they were back to normal or not. When she woke up and smiled at him, his curiosity was put to rest.

Until she slapped him.

"Sarah! What in all the hells was that for?" Jareth demanded.

"For treating me like a tush du jour, asshole!" She yelled.

Tush du jour? The Sun god looked confused at the Moon Goddess.

The Moon Goddess coughed and looked very interested in the ceiling. It means... well, it's a term used to describe the ladies who sell their services, often for hour long periods.

Oh. The Sun god joined her in studying the ceiling while Sarah and Jareth bickered at each other.

"Dick!"

"Stop acting like a childish huss-"

"Don't you dare call me a hussy, you pretentious overbearing-"

"You will mind your tongue-"

"Or what? You'll spank me? Try it, Goblin Boy, and I'll- mmph!"

The Sun god and Moon turned to see Jareth had shut Sarah up the best way possible. He had grabbed her waist and kissed her, pressing his mouth against hers so she couldn't bite. She was trying to beat his chest, but he had her pinned against him so tightly all she could do was squirm. She quickly stopped and a blush spread across her cheeks.

Methinks Jareth is enjoying her wiggling a bit too much. The Sun god muttered quietly to the Moon Goddess. She smiled wickedly and nipped at his ear.

I think so too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah was infuriated with Jareth, and when he kissed her she was filled with murderous thoughts that all involved pointy objects and the Goblin King. Trying to wiggle free, she was mortified to discover that Jareth was enjoying her struggles. That was made clear by the fact that she could feel his erection pushing against her. Cheeks flaming, she stopped but tried to pull her head away. He merely pulled her closer with one arm and then wrapped the other around her upper body, entangling his hand in her hair. Smiling to herself, she knew how to win. She made her body go limp and she let out a moan, parting her lips slightly.

Well, looks like they managed to work things out. The Sun god remarked jovially.

Jareth wasn't expecting her to wiggle against him like that, or expecting his body to reply to her movements in such a way. When she moaned and opened her mouth to him, he eagerly deepened the kiss, stroking her tongue with his, teasing her. Sarah grinned wickedly- right before she bit him. Hard.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sighing, the Moon Goddess shook her head and watched as Jareth and Sarah resumed cursing at each other. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm right all the time.

"How dare you stick your filthy ton-

"You didn't mind so much a week ago." Jareth purred smoothly. "And it was far more intimate an area than your mouth.

"You filthy disgusting-

"Impetuous little-"

"Pompous lying-"

"Ill mannered spoiled-"

"Self righteous pigheaded-"

"Uncontrollable juvenile-"

"You ostentatious-"

"You reckless- mmph!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jareth was shocked at the force in which Sarah gripped his head, forcing him to kiss her so hard that their teeth clicked against each other. She was gripping his head so hard that her fingers were hopelessly entangled in his hair. Smirking to himself, Jareth gripped her tightly, leaving bruises where his fingers lay. Sarah jumped and wrapped her legs around his waist, and Jareth shifted his grasp to hold her, his fingers biting into her thighs. Sarah made a pleased sound as he bit her throat, arching her neck to give him more access.

Get control of yourself, boy, before you ravish the poor girl where you stand!

Sarah, my child, now is not the time.

The two pulled apart, their faces like guilty teenagers caught in the act. Sarah blushed and Jareth smirked at her bowed head.

The Sun god was beaming at the two of them, while the Moon Goddess was smiling gently.

Do not be embarrassed, my child. Passion is nothing to be ashamed of. It is emotion, pure and uncontrolled. The Moon rules emotion, it is your power and your heritage.

"Why... why did you choose me to bless?" Sarah asked quietly. "I'm nothing special."

Child, you are everything. You dreamed of a world that many thought long dead. You follow your heart, not your mind, and you honor truth and passion among all others. You risked everything to save your brother- yes, child, we know about that. The Moon Goddess nodded at Sarah's frightened look. And yet, through it all, through all your pain and suffering, you held your heart true. You still held your love for Jareth true, through the torture you were forced to endure. You returned to him, because you loved. And you held true to him.

"But- I-"

No buts, child. There is a strength my love sees in you, a strength similar to her own. Same as I did with Jareth here. The Sun god gazed at the two of them with pride. But this is not the time to sing praises of your strengths, child. We must prepare you.

"Prepare me?" Sarah asked, confused. "But, what was all of the things the Moon Goddess showed me?"

That was the knowledge you needed to control your new abilities, my child. The Moon Goddess smiled and stepped forward, smoothing a piece of Sarah's hair behind her ear. It is time you learned of why you were blessed.

"Why was I blessed?"

To help the Goblin King save the Underground and the lives within. The Moon Goddess raised her hand. With a flash of light, all four appeared at the Goblin Castle, specifically in Jareth's study. The Moon Goddess settled gracefully on a couch next to the Sun god, who threw himself down and lounged in his seat. Sit, my child, and we will explain.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah made to sit down across from them, but squeaked when she found Jareth in her seat. She tried to get up, but he merely wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her against him.

"Quiet, Sarah, I want to know this as much as you." He ordered her.

Glowering at him, Sarah settled against him, but not before elbowing him sharply in the stomach.

"Minx." he hissed under his breath.

"Jerk." she hissed back.

Children. The Moon Goddess admonished lightly. As I was saying...

The Sun and Moon have always been in the sky, physically representations of the Sun God and Moon Goddess. The Sun god is the Warrior, Husband, Father, Son. He protects the lands, but gives them warmth and nourishment, allowing the crops to grow and flourish, fire for the hearths, and light to perform tasks that are necessary to survive.

The Moon Goddess is the Seer, Wife, Mother, Daughter. She covers the land in a gentle blanket, watching over the people as a mother watches over her children. Her gentle light reflects my own, giving a softer version of love. She rules emotions and magic, the lady of mystery and of light. She allows me to rest and watches over me.

Every generation of Fae that is born has one protector who has been blessed by the Sun god. This Fae is called a Sun Child. It is always a male who shows great courage, leadership, and generosity. There is only one, and they are marked by the Sun god.

"Marked?" Sarah asked, curious. "Marked how? Like a brand, or a tattoo?"

The Moon Goddess laughed delightedly while the Sun god bellowed in laughter. No, child. Perhaps my love should explain. She said the last part while looking at the Sun god.

Jareth's coloring is what she means, my girl. The Sun god nodded at Jareth. His eyes, girl. You remember seeing him with two blue eyes, when you ran the Labyrinth, right?

"Yes... but six years is a long time to-"

Six years?! The Sun god bellowed, bursting into laughter. My girl, Jareth has been blessed for over 300 years!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"But- how-"

"Glamour, Sarah." Jareth whispered silkily in her. "A simple spell to hide my true appearance, nothing more. However, when you... defeated me, the Labyrinth saw fit to bestow you with the ability to see past my illusions. Your memories of me with two blue eyes are slightly fractured, because the magic is what makes you see the mark. The Labyrinth's gift is so strong that it's affecting your memories."

Sarah twisted to gap at him, and he merely chuckled. Lightly tracing a line from her ear to her shoulder, he smirked at her. She blushed and turned to face the Sun god and Moon goddess again. "Okay, that explains Jareth." she said, trying desperately to ignore his tightening hold on her, and his hand lightly resting on her thigh. "But not what a Moon Child is."

The Moon goddess cleared her throat and began to speak again. A Moon Child is someone blessed by my mark- usually seen in their eyes. Purple and silver are my colors, hence why your eyes are colored so, and also why your skin had that faint purple tinge. It's faded, thankfully, but you'll still be recognized as a Moon Child.

"But what are they?" Sarah stressed.

They are created when the world is out of balance. Too much Sun and not enough dreams. Quite frankly, Sarah, a Moon Child is marked when the world does not dream enough.

Sarah stared at the Moon goddess before beginning to laugh bitterly. "So you pick a girl with dying dreams to help the world dream again? Is this a sick joke?"

Before the Moon goddess could respond, Jareth whispered in her ear. "No, Sarah. Your dreams are not as dead as you see them."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that cleared up some of the confusion. I know it's not all perfectly clear yet, but what fanfic is complete without completely confusing certain members of the reading audience. I mean, I already have a explicit sex scene.
