Shrimp Cocktails and Grand Entrances Part II

What Happens In Gotham

By: TheDisasterousChibi

Last Time:

“Good, then let’s go see who does.” the Joker picked up Jack, cradling him in his arms in a mockingly loving fashion, and some shrimp from the table. The boy would serve as insurance in case anyone was feeling heroic that night.

As his jesters collected jewels and other valuables from Gotham’s high society the Joker harassed the guest. Slapping one here, pulling one’s hair there. Until he reached an old white haired gentleman with glasses.

“We will not be intimidated by thugs.” the proud haughty voice of the man cut into the silence of the room. Everyone stared at the crimson lipped man, waiting for his reaction.

Frowning, looking as if he was solving a puzzle, the Joker responded, “You remind me of my father.” Shifting his hostage’s weight to one arm he pulled out a blade and pressed it to the elder mans jugular. “I hated my father” he said with the same harsh, lower toned voice.

“That is enough let my son go!”

Chapter Six: Shrimp Cocktails and Grad Entrances Part II

Katarina had had enough.

First a pudgy, bleach blonde harpy accused her of being a harlot.

Then Bruce Wayne interrupts the tongue lashing of a life time, giving said harpy a chance to escape.

And now. Now a psychopathic, homicidal man dressed as a clown with drag queen make up as lovingly holding her son as he threatened an elderly man.

‘This is all Wayne’s fault’

Seeing her sons terrified hazel eyes search the room for her brought Katarina out of her fear induced coma. She pushed and shoved making her way through the crowd as rapidly as she could, without drawing the attention of the clown masked goons.

The sight of her baby’s pouting lips trembling set Katarina off. The fires of rage coursed through her veins, all the anger she had felt tonight was now being concentrated on one sole being.

Standing all but ten feet from the Joker, tall and proud, chin forward, eyes a blaze with righteous fury, Katarina called out, her voice echoing in the eerie silence.

“That’s enough, let my son go!”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Joker’s eyes narrowed when he heard the voice interrupted his speech. He hated to be interrupted. He shifted his head to look over the terrified man’s shoulder.

A woman.

A very tall and curvaceous woman.

Placing an open palm on the well dressed gentleman’s face the Joker pushed, sending the man crashing to the floor with a dull thud, he just laid there a muttering heap. No one moved to help him.

Joker shifted the boys weight, caging him in both arms securely, placing him directly in at his left side, on his hip. Like a mother carrying her child. He strutted forward toward the out spoken woman, shaking his head to move a pesky piece of hair fro his way.

“Hello dawl-face. The tike your’s? Is his daddy around?” the Joker circled the woman, his lecherous gaze never going above her collar bone. Who needs a face to associate to a body like this anyway?

A tiny voice took the Jokers mind out of the gutter, a small trembling voice that belonged to the boy in his arms.

“Sir, can I please go to my Mom?”

“You don’t like me sport? Is it the scars? Do you wanna know how I got them?”

“Only if you want to tell me sir.” was the quiet reply.

‘Which past this time, should it be abusive parents, toxic vat of waste, or the wife story?’ the Joker thought, ’seeing that it’s a kid abusive parents it is, mothers softening is good too’

“My daddy was a drinker and a fiend. One night he comes home cra-zier then usual. He chases my mother and me through the house, beatingus with a belt as we go.”

The Joker imitated a whip cracking sound as his hands played out the motion. He kept his gaze of the woman body, making sure she wouldn’t go Wonder Mom on him.

“We get to the kitchen and my mom grabs a carving knife to defend us. Now my father, he doesn’t like that. Not. One. Bit.”

For a dramatic effect he lowers his voice, filling it with rage and hurt. The kids eyes where starting to water, poor sap.

“So then he stabs her and stabs her face until it’s a bloody unrecognizable mess. Then he turns to me. “Why so serious he asks” he puts the knife into my mouth and says “Let’s put a smi-le on that face!” “

Laughing like a hyena the Joker continues his story, his breath coming out in shorts pants as he talked and laughed.

“Now I see the funny side. I’m always smiling”

A tiny hesitant hand placed it self on the Joker's face, fingers trembled as they traced the right corner of his mouth. A gasping sound came from the boy’s delectable mother.

“I don’t have a daddy. But my daddy looks nice in mom's pictures. I don’t think he would have hurt me.”

Jack continued to finger the Jokers scars, feeling the bumpy ridges of the mangled flesh. It was warm and soft despite the ugliness.

“My Mom says my dad was really nice. That he would have been a great daddy. Maybe…Maybe we can share a daddy mister!” looking into his captives eyes Jack smiled as he suggested this.

“I would much rather share your Mommy.” a perverse grin crawled onto the Joker’s face. The boy had taken him by surprise. Putting the boy down, his hand strocking his curly hair, the Joker turned to his mother.

Their eyes meet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hazel green eyes.

That’s all Katarina could see. She didn’t see the monster grin, or the white make up, she didn’t even she he black circles. She just saw those hazel green eyes.

Those eyes that had once gazed at her with all the love and adoration in the world. Those eyes that she gazed at as he took her to heaven every night. That hazel green that had left her.

The feel of Jack’s warm little hand on her own made Katarina break eye contact with the Joker.

Jack was lifting her hand, he carefully placed it into the Joker's purple gloved one, keeping his own on top of them both.

“We can share my Mom. But only if you promise not to hurt her. My mom cries at night sometimes, I don’t like it when she cries.” Jack’s head was down cast as he made a deal with the Joker, not realizing what he was saying.

The Joker had a look of pure bliss and barely contained mirth on his face. Like a child who had been told Christmas was coming early.

“Jack!” the outraged cry of Katarina sounded across the room as she tore her hand from the Joker’s taking her son with her.

The Joker’s reflex where too good, just as she tore away the man, from his grip, the Joker grabed on to her arm and hauled her to his chest. Her back connected soundly to his chest. The blade on his hand was pressed against her rib cage. Jack’s back touched his mother’s hip.

A flash of light blinded the trio.

A picture had been taken.

Katarina saw opportunity in this and stomped on the instep of the Jokers foot, elbowed him in the gut, took hold of his knife wielding arm and rolled him over her back and onto the floor with her forward momentam.

The Joker quickly got back on his feet, fixing his suit jacket as he said making a grab for Katarina‘s arm, “A little fight in ya. I like that.”

“Then your gonna love me!”

A leather covered fist connected with the Joker's jaw sending him flying. Too bad for Katarina that he had grabbed her arm, so she took a one way trip to the floor, landing squarly onto the Joker, her forehead knocked agaist his.

“Knew you could resit me darling!” The Joker kept a firm hold on Katarina as she got up and yelled to his goons, “We’re done here boys, go back to the place.”

The clown maske men were quick to follow his command. They all entered the elevator as the Joker backed up toward the elevator. The Batman couldn’t get a clear shot at him. Katarina covered almost all parts of him. The elevator dinged announcing its rise.

‘He’s going to kidnap me ’

“Mr. I said you can hurt her if you want to share.” stompin his foot on the ground Jack screamed at the Joker. Causing that insane spine tingling laughter to raise fro the Jokers throat.

The Batman stood behind Jack, incase the Joker tried anything.

“Jack let me go. J.C needs me” thenamed slipped out as Katarina pleded with her captor. His grip tightened on her. The elevator dinged again and opened its doors behind them.

The Jokers hot breath caressed Katarina’s ear as he whispered, “The name’s Joker darling.” he gripped her hair in his hand and gave Katarina a brusing kiss.

Her surprised gasp allowed him to snake his tongue inside her mouth. His teeth clanked with her’s.

He broke the kiss as soon as he started it. He through her toward one of the windows nearest to him. The Batman, like he knew he would, charge into action to same the damsel.

The Joker backup into the elevator bowed and said. “I hope you enjoye tonights show. I didn’t hurt your Mom sporrt so she’s half mine still.”

The Joker winked at Jackas the elevator doors closed.

While the Batman helped Katarina, the Joker made his espcape. He entred a car parked at the front, a recently stolen one and whistled a happy all the way back to his hide out as he joined Gotham’s massive traffic.

‘What a fun night’

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Katrina wouldn’t have made it to the window, not with the force the Joker had used. The Batman grabbed her around the waist to steady her.

“Ma’am are you alright?”

With a venomous glare Katarina responded, “Where were you five minutes ago when he had my son in his arms?”

Katarina knew it was wrong to take out her anger on an innocent bystander, but something about the Batman just seemed to piss her off. So she unleaseda hell reserved for Bruce Wayne, The Harpy Reporter and The Joker on him.

“He could have killed him. Why didn’t you go after him, I would have been fine!”

“That’s a fine way to thanks some one ma’am”

“Mom!”

Jack cried as he ran into his mothers arms, he hugged her with as much strength as he could. His head was buried into the crook of her neck; no tears fell from his eyes despite his body shaking.

‘My brave boy’

The Batman stood and turned making his way to the window, with a single punch he broke it and prepared to jump. Not, how ever, before Katarina got the last word.

“I didn’t need your help you Superman-wanna-be!”

‘Hope the fall breaks his leg’

Katarina thought as she saw the Batman make a grand exit.
