The Viper's bite

Chapter 7

Paula tried to grab his wrists to stop what he was accomplishing with every touch. He growled and nipped her neck while pressing her breasts together. Paula panicked when his nipping moved towards her breasts.


“Ky’an, we …Ahhhh“


The suction of his mouth made her head spin. She squealed when he raised her right leg and placed the bend of her knee over his right shoulder. He licked her breasts and began to move lower towards the wetness between her legs.


The banging on the door was intrusive but Ky’an was not going to let that stop him.


“Ky’an,”


His head popped up and he was off the bed at the sound of fear in Car’mek’s tone.


Paula shivered and drew her legs towards her chest in an effort to stop the growing ache and disappointment at the loss of Ky’an. She then heard Car’mek make a sound of sobbing and she began to dress. This could not be good.

“Phi I am fine but you should see Beta.” Mya began pushing the healer’s hands away from her.


Grails moved closer to her bedside and began purring. “Mya please let him check you did say your chest was hurting while I carried you here.”


Mya’s fight began to wane when Grails moved the hair from her eyes. Phi looked at the General strangely but helped Mya lay down. It was possible Grails had succumb to the pheromone that controlled Mya's body at this time. the healer knew that the general spent all his free time around Dev'er's family.

“Mya” Dev’er swiftly walked into the Medical room with Ford trailing behind him.


“Father I am fine.” Mya said enduring Dev’er hard hug and the purring. She gave in and purred back. Dev’er smiled at her and pulled back still leaning over her body.


“All those techniques that you and Uncle Ky’an taught me really work.”Mya smiled at her father but winced when Phi touched her chest.


“That is not good I barely touched you.” Phi announced to everyone.


“He slammed me into the wall I guess it would hurt.”


“Who slammed you into the wall?”

Ky’an stood in the room with Paula and Car’mek at his side. Car’mek ran over to her daughter. Dev’er purred at Car’mek seeing her tears. Grails and Ford walked towards the loincloth-clad hunter and his mate.


“The pilot formerly known as Beta decided to try and force Mya into something she is not ready for. The General changed his mind, and his appearance.” Ky’an nodded towards the General.

“Mother I just can not stay in my room until this has passed.”


“Mya do you see how worried I am about you, I can not take this. If something were to happen to you I would….”


“Car’mek” The General came closer hearing the conversation between mother and daughter.


“She will not be alone. I will not allow anything to harm your daughter. I never have. You can not keep her trapped in her room; she is not the problem those who are weak are the problem.”


“He is right Car’mek she is no longer your baby.” Dev’er purred softly into his mate’s neck. Mya reached up and wiped away her Mother’s tears.

“There you are Grails.”


The soft clicks and Grails sudden bristling told Paula not all was happy in Se’tra land. Ford turned away from the approaching female as she came closer purposely touching Ky’an’s arm on her way to the General. Paula frowned at her boldness. Hussy was the only word that came to mind.

Mya felt Grails's hand touch her thigh under the blanket as Se'tra made her way into the room. The general stole one last look at her before turning away.

Se’tra immediately tried to find out what was wrong with Mya but Grails escorted her from the room. Ford nodded at Ky’an and followed.

“You will learn to defend yourself.”


“What?” Paula slowly looked up the vest less body of Ky’an. The ache returned but he seemed not to notice her sudden condition.


“You must be able to defend yourself.”


“You said that you would always defend me.”


Ky’an moved closer raising her chin so she was looking into his eyes. “I will, you need not worry about that. I think you would feel more confident if you could defend yourself.”


His hand moved along her chin and down her neck. He could feel her pulse racing.“I almost had you.”


His purr was deep and Paula’s insides confirmed that he still could have her. He began to smile a knowing smile until he heard Mya saying something to the fact that she and Paula could watch out for each other.

Ky’an turned and looked over at Mya. “You need rest as Phi had said.”


The healer looked over at them with confusion. “She does require some rest.”


Ky’an nodded and turned back to Paula.“We will return to our room.”

She knew she would be pregnant if she returned to the room. He looked the type that would not stop once he was inside. Paula trembled at her own thoughts. The purring vibrated her body and he was not even touching her. Paula closed her eyes.


“You can not deny me Paula. I felt that you wanted me and you want me still.” He whispered into her ear, placed his arm around her waist, raised his hand at Dev’er, and escorted Paula from the room.

“Why are you always around her Grails?”


“Dev’er asked that I look after his family Se’tra and I respect Dev’er, and this is not for discussion.” The General washed his hands, dried them, and walked from the washroom. Se’tra moved into his path.


“I see the way you look at her. I know she is coming into heat and that more males are noticing her.”


“They are always noticing her Se’tra and you do not like that or Mya.” Grails moved her out of his path.


“I do not deserve to be treated as if I do not exist. You have not touched me since that first night Grails. The night you betrayed Ky'an. Have you forgotten already General?"


Grails faced Se'tra with a smile. "Have you forgotten how drunk I was or how breif it was and that I did not stay with you."


"The anger on her face grew when the realization that he did not care about her finally sunk in. "I know you wanted me."


"No, I did not and do not." The general turned away from her.


Se'tra followed him around the room."Are you hoping Dev’er will give Mya to you.”


The General smiled but did not let Se’tra see it. “Such is female talk, and from one who only seeks position rather than a mate.”


Se’tra growled at him. “I am not to blame for leaving Ky’an. He was never there.”


“He was protecting the clan, which includes you. He expected you to be there for him and show him that you cared. You cared for the other males on this ship while he was away. You could not be with only a hunter Se'tra you used your body to move up the chain of command.”


“Did you show him that you cared Grails by sleeping with me?”


Grails turned to face Se’tra. “It had the desired affect Se’tra. He is no longer with you and we think that is a good thing.”


Se’tra growled at him as he turned away and walked towards the door.
“Where are you going?”


Grails faced her as the doors slid open. “Will you wonder about it while I am away from you Se’tra? I will be where I will be and that is all you need to know.”


Se’tra watched the door close behind him.
