Change of Heart
Jack jerked his body up from the uncomfortable bed quickly and gasped in confusion, clutching his heart as his breath failed him and reality set in. One of his infamous dreams had taken over his subconscious - Olivia haunting him from the depths.
There was still time.
Jack made his way to the doc of the ship - creeping past the crew as they slept soundly. Elizabeth and Will were in the main chamber resting peacefully and Gibbs was at the helm of the vessel - keeping a watchful eye on the horizon. "Captain? You should be resting - tomorrow will bring a fretful day, especially if you aren't at full conscious."
"I'm fine, Gibbs. I think.." He muttered, looking past his company to the woman that stood on the top decks, honey blond hair blowing in the wind. She turned her head and met his stare, smiling faintly - those sad blue eyes matching his own darker hues. "Mind the boat.." Jack whispered, walking past Gibbs and up to join the woman. "Olivia.. this.. isn't a dream? Is it?" He asked softly - praying silently that she wouldn't kill him where he stood. "No, it's not.." Olivia whispered, her voice thick with grief. They stared at one another for a long, uneasy moment before Jack closed the space between them and took her into his arms.
"Calypso's gone, Jack. You don't have to worry about her anymore. I wouldn't allow her to harm you.."
Jack held Olivia at arms length and stared into her eyes, surprised to see tears fall freely from their prison. "What? What did you do?" He asked - unsure if he should be happy or cry with her. It must have taken a lot to convince a Goddess of wrath and grief to just go away. Jack's eyes went wide with realization as Olivia looked up at him and sighed. "I only have a few moments, Jack.." She whispered softly, pulling him back into her embrace. "Calypso agreed to vacate my body and grant no harm be done towards you but only on one condition..."
Jack cleared his throat, "..what condition?" His voice cracked with emotion for he already knew the answer. "That I be returned to the depths and that no one would hold the power to bring me back again." She whispered sadly. She had sacrificed her own life so that Jack would be safe. "Say there's another way, Olivia? Tell me what to do to fix this..." He cried, the grief in his voice nearly breaking Olivia's heart. It was more than obvious that Jack was sorry for what he had done and that if there were a way he would change the mistakes of his past and do right by her.
He was in love with the girl - the first person he had ever loved beside himself.
Jack Sparrow would surely perish without Olivia in his life.
"Please, Liv.. please, just tell me what to do?" He begged, crying now - hot tears pouring down his cheeks in a sad attempt to keep her with him. "There's nothing you can do.." Olivia whispered, crying herself as Jack held onto her tightly. He kissed her temple through her hair and took in a breath - the familiar smell of vanilla and salt water. A smell he would always remember. "I won't let you go.." He whispered, closing his eyes as another wave of sorrow and grief washed over him. His own heart was weak - thumping numbly in his chest at the thought of losing his beloved and never seeing her again. He wasn't a good enough man to go to the place she was going. "I won't.."
Jack wrapped his arms protectively around Olivia's thin waist as the thick, salty sea air blew in around them; causing Gibbs to loose his bearings at the helm and send the ship spinning around in the water. The slightly drunk man began yelling something about a hurricane as a strong storm formed around them - soaking Jack and Olivia. Calypso appeared above the black water suddenly - staring down at Jack with an unreadable look in her sparkling eyes.
"Jack Sparrow.." She called, forming clouds of thick smoke and fog around the two lovers - making the three of them unnoticed by Gibbs and the few crewmen that had woke to help him steer the ship from the sudden storm. "These things you speak of.. you're love for Olivia runs deeper then the very blood in your veins.." She called - startling the pirate as he refused to let go of Olivia. "Jack, I have to go.. it was our deal.." The girl cried - not wanting anything to happen to Jack. He might have been a pirate but Calypso was a Goddess and she would kill him where he stood with no remorse. "Do you truly believe you'd be happier if you'd have chosen a different path?" The Goddess asked loudly - looking at the couple with all seriousness. The things Jack had said to Olivia earlier had spoke to her as well and she knew only she had the power to grant such things Jack asked.
"Aye!" Jack yelled through the rain and the thunder. "I'll do anything - anything you ask - to change mine and Olivia's fate. I love her and if given the chance I'd do right by her.." Jack turned to Olivia and held her hands in his - squinting as the heavy rain poured down on them. "I've loved you for as long as I can remember.. the first night I left Tortuga I wanted nothing more than to take you with me.. and to wed you.. hell, the night Elizabeth and Will were married I wanted to wed you.. but my pride and my love for the sea got the best of me.."
Olivia stepped closer to Jack; "...if we had time.. if I had one last chance I'd give you everything in this world and more.. I'd give you my life and my heart.. everything..." His yelling had turned into more of a whisper now - the seriousness in his was almost frightening. "..if you'd have me.." Olivia's eyes met Jack's quickly - she felt her time running out as they spoke but the words slipped past her lips without thinking. "I'd have you, Jack. You're all I ever wanted.." She assured quietly, knowing it was to late and to good to be true. With their last moments Jack leaned his head down towards Olivia and placed his lips on hers - kissing her with everything he had - forcing his tongue past her mouth, tasting her one last time. Olivia returned the kiss with just as much passion - silently praying that this moment would never end.
As Jack wrapped his arms tighter around Olivia's body he heard a loud, deafening sound of thunder in the back ground - sounding almost as if someone had been shot... and then, everything went black and life and he and Olivia knew it would never be the same.

Jack's eyes opened slowly as he pulled the thick, warm sheets away from his body. The smell of sweet honey biscuits carried through the small house causing him to take in a deep, pleasant breath. "..Olivia.." He mumbled, mostly to himself as he woke - idly wondering where the girl was. A storm had set in the previous night - thunder and lightening nearly rocking their home off it's foundation - causing an eight teen year old Olivia Winslet to crawl into the small bunk bed beside him and curl up like a frightened child. He had wrapped his arms around her - kissed her forehead and quietly promised to always watch out for her. "..no matter what.."
Now his arms were empty and he felt alone in the small room.
"Liv?"
James Sparrow, Jack's somewhat adoptive father, stepped into the room quietly and closed the door behind him - shaking his head at the boy who had yet to wake - as he took a seat in one of the bedside chairs. "Jack, supper's almost ready and I wanted to speak with you before your mother and Olivia call us.." He started, wondering to himself if this conversation was such a good idea. He didn't think for a second that Jack would be interested in taking a job with the East India Trading Company, making himself a good sum of money and finding a wife to wed. His mother, Linda Sparrow, had hopes that he would choose Olivia as a bride and make Olivia's mother happy and at peace.
James just wanted the best for the only man he knew as son.
"The East India Trading Company is looking for several young, hard working men to sail with them - delivering goods and services throughout the seven seas - food, supplies... things like that. I am getting to old to do such things but I mentioned my son, you.. and the Governor seemed to fancy the idea quiet well.."
Jack was surprised at the offer. Working for the Trading Company would bring him in a high sum of money - considering the only other jobs open now were pig farmers and docs men. Neither paying half of what the Governor would. "I'm not sure, sir.. do you think I would have a chance with the other men? My work ethic isn't quiet up to par.."
"I think if you put some effort into the situation, Jack, you would make a find tradesman. You are coming of age to take a wife and start your own family. Working for the Trading Company will definitely put you and your chosen wife on your feet."
Jack nodded his head in agreement. The East India Trading Company didn't like pirates and that's what Jack was, deep inside, a pirate - just like his real father - but James had a point and the decision of taking the job felt right. It would be the best thing for him to do. "Alright, I'll take the job..." James smiled at Jack proudly - thankful that he had chosen the path of an honest man instead of the path of a pirate. "Wonderful, you'll start at the top of the week.. and I bet once they see the ideal sailing skills you have they'll have you on the mast in a month."
Jack smiled at the thought of being a captain of a ship as he pushed himself from the bed and watched James take his leave from the room. "Oh, James.." He stated quickly - catching his father just as he turned to leave. "Yes?" He asked, curious as to what else the boy had to say. "Thank you, for everything.." James just nodded his head and smiled - taking leave towards the kitchen where Linda and Olivia were finishing up dinner. Jack glanced around the small room - surprised at how a nights sleep could change a mans plans. Just the night before he had swore to himself that he was leaving this God forsaken island to pursue the life of a pirate but now, things didn't seem to be as bad - and leaving his family, especially Olivia - wasn't something he could easily do. He was in love with that girl and it was about time to let her know it.
