The Coming of the Queen

“You shouldn’t be out here in the dark all alone!” A voice came from the other side of the statue.

Ang jumped and turned around, Chupa tried to keep calm, he was caught out of guard and he had to remain calm, he didn’t want to scare her away. “Would she be scared, I wonder?” he thought, standing behind her looking to where the man was standing.

“I’m not alone!” She replied

“Not today! You should be more careful with the companies you keep!” said the strange figure.

Ang looked at the man standing 5 feet from them. Big, muscular, black as the night, all dressed in black leather with a black leather cape and black sunglasses.

“Why would you be a better company?” She said crossing her arms over her chest and tilting her head left. Chupa looked at her and couldn’t help to smile, she was bold and had no fear, not normal in a human, all humans have fears, for as small as they might be, all humans fear something, but not her, she was different.

“Do you know who he is?”

Chupa eyes opened wide and instinctively he sent out a message to the man; “she doesn’t know, she was going to be attacked by two vampires, I came to her rescue, let’s keep it that way Daywalker” Chupa sent hissing to the man’s mind. The black man nodded with a puzzled look in his face, he’d been trying to kill Chupa for a long time, but every time he tried he failed, he didn’t really understand why, but Chupa wasn’t his biggest worry, so he let it lye for now.

“Hello-oo…! Excuse me but do you want something Mr?” Ang said getting and looking annoyed.

“No. I just heard some commotion and came to see what it was!”

“Well who the fuck are you?” Ang asked getting mad. Chupa and the Daywalker opened their mouths slightly amazed of her boldness.

“My name is Blade, and I’m not the one you should be afraid of…!”
She let out a laugh. Chupa and Blade looked at her puzzled, even Danz that was still in the shadows ready to help his friend if he needed, was completely amazed looking at her.

“Who said I’m afraid!! Why should I be afraid of you or him, or anyone else for that matter?” she said pointing over her shoulder to Chupa.

“Well, I asked you if you know who he is.” Blade asked her again. Chupa’s fists started to clench. Blade moved closer.

“I know more about him then about you!” She said tilting her head side ways following Blades movements, and she moved back to maintain a safety space between her and Blade, eyes locked on him, legs a bit apart like if in ready for fight if needed. Blade moved a step closer and she moved a step back raising her hands clenching her fists, she totally forgot Chupa was behind her and bumped into his chest, as she stepped back. Chupa’s hands automatically held her shoulders and as soon as he touched her a jolt of electricity ran through both of their bodies stiffening them. They gasped, the feeling of warmth came next, Chupa felt his heart coming to life, Ang felt the same sensation she did when she was in the disco. Blade sensed something and stepped back eyes opened wide and continued to step back until he disappeared in the shadows, Danz was petrified with the situation, Blade the Daywalker, the vampire who slays vampires was intimidated by this woman. Ang felt herself involved with this unearthly warmth, she couldn’t breathe, she focused and moved forward out of his grip and Chupa instantly took his hand off her.

“Jesus!” She said gasping and smiling, her smile became laughter.

“What?” Chupa said, trying to catch his breath... “What’s so funny?”

“You Vince… you got a shocking personality, it’s the second time I accidentally bump into you and you jolt me… fuck man you must be a walking energy magnet!” She said, laughing so hard she had to sit down on the steps to regain her strength. Chupa couldn’t help to laugh; everything she did was contagious in a very good way. He could feel his heart beat every time she spoke; his dead heart was coming to life! The feeling was overwhelming but he tried to get it controlled, he didn’t know what was causing it but he sure as hell would find out.

“Sorry.” He managed to say “Does that happen often with you?” He sat next to her.

She was breathing hard from the laughter and the stressful situation with that Blade character.

“It depends on the person in the other end… I normally don’t feel a thing…!” She felt so safe speaking to him; she was opening up to him her most hidden secrets.

“Like what?” He said moving 2 steps up sitting just beside her, so her sent could fill him up. He loved her sent. She looked at him with a puzzled look on her face “It’s ok...you can tell me, my friends think I’m a freak too!”
Ang rose an eye brow to his comment.

“Well, I sense when there’s someone around, even if I do not see them!”

“You didn’t sense Blade!” Chupa said inquisitive.

“Well… I was focusing on…” She paused “… where had I sensed YOU before!!” she said looking straight into his face.

That made him feel a sting inside, and he moved his eyes to her face. Her eyes were glowing, a glow of blinding warmth.

“What do you mean?” He said not sure if he wanted to hear the answer, he sensed Danz moving away, guess he thought they would be ok alone, and was leaving.

“I’m not sure… but I’m pretty sure this is not the second time our paths cross… When I sense someone I kinda of register that… how could you call it … energy?!” She said smiling, Chupa smiled back.

“So you keep a record of all energies you sense?”

“No not all, only the bad ones, to be on the safe side in the future, or the shocking personality types!” She said laughing slightly at him.

“Ha!! ...red handed!” He said raising his hand as if surrendering.

“Twice!” she said laughing.

“You look better. You got me worried back there, when you were screaming… you said a name…!”

“Did I? What name?”

“You said ‘Akasha’… does that mean anything to you?”

“I don’t know. I’ve been feeling some really weird shit lately… jezz, day dreaming, hearing voices…” Chupa smiled he had to ask.

“Voices?”

“Yah… freaky isn’t it?”

“Bad ones?”

“No… very good ones…!” Ang stopped and it suddenly reality hit her, she looked at the floor to the book trying not to let him see her face, “The sent, the energy, the breeze…” she thought to herself “I felt the same again today… and all of a sudden he comes from no where!”

“Hey are you ok…you’re not freaking out on me again are you!” Chupa asked worried, she could feel he was genuinely worried.

“I’m fine” She said with a happy smile on her face and looked at him.

“You’ve been around all along, protecting me… but from what!?” she thought looking in his eyes. Chupa looked upon her face, something changed in her, she had a different shine on her eyes, suddenly he felt a strong wave of happiness fill him up as overwhelming as the fear he was feeling.

“Why am I afraid? I’m never afraid!” He though, still lost in her eyes. “What are you hiding?” He couldn’t read her senses, or her mind and that puzzled him.

“What? Vince you’re staring at me!”

“Hun… oh sorry, it’s just… well, I’m amazed at you!” He managed to mumble.

“Oh really. Why?” She said teasingly.

“Well the way, you handled Blade… even me! Aren’t you scared at all of … I don’t know how to put it …”

“Ha! …let’s see, afraid of talking to strangers like you!” She said smiling.

“Well Yah!” Chupa said nodding his head.

“Didn’t I tell you I had sensed you...?”

“Yah you did, so…?”

“I sense you are harmless… That’s why I am talking to you!” She said tapping his shoulder and a tingle ran down her hand to her arm into her chest. Chupa shrugged his shoulder as if jolted too.

“Looks like I’m not the only one with a shocking personality!” Chupa said laughing.

“Damn you are right!” She said looking at her watch. “Fuck it’s 4 in the morning! God I have to go… gotta get some sleep, I’ve been falling asleep on the job…time flies doesn’t it!” She said getting up picking up her stuff.

“Only when you’re having fun!” Chupa said picking up her coat and helping her to dress. She smiled back at him.

“Hum …a gentleman, that’s hard to come across!” She said looking at him, Chupa was afraid he had blushed, but vampires don’t blush, or do they?

“Well… that’s me, do you live near by?”

Ang looked at him “Hum …why do I get the feeling you know where I live!” she thought.

“Yah ...I do!” She said waiting for him to say what she was expecting him to say. Chupa unconsciously rubs his scruffy beard.

“Can I …walk you home?” He said nervously.

“Sure!” Her answer come out so fast it got him by surprise, it looked like as if she was waiting for him to ask that.

“Hum?” Chupa let out.

“I said sure…come on!” She was going to grab his arm but stopped he was looking at her hand that was closely and dangerously almost touching him.

“Hum... Better not I had my fill of jolts tonight!” She said moving her hand away from him laughing loud.

“Yah ...right!” Chupa said smiling and a bit disappointed, he really would like to feel her touch even if it was for just a second.

“Let’s go!” She said shooting that look at him over her shoulder, his stomach clenched.

They walked side by side through the park.

“So what do you do? You already know I work in a library right?”

“Yep… afternoon shift right?”

“Yep... and what about you?” Chupa looked at her “Great, now what? You have to come up with something man” He thought.

“I do book research on…” he paused rubbing his hair “…paranormal stuff” He said. “Yah that ought to do it” he thought.

Ang stopped and looked at him “You’re kidding me, right...?!” She resumed walking.

“No … I love to investigate that stuff… I told you my friends think I’m a freak too!” He smiled at her, her eyes were shining so bright looking at him, he had to clear up is throat to be able to speak.

“So we have something more in common then just our shocking personalities!” She said with happiness filling her voice.

“Guess so!” He smiled back at her.

“Here we are!” She said. Chupa looked up at the building.

“Let me guess …top floor?”

“Yah! How’d you know?” She was glowing , he made her glow, and that made him feel so good.

“That’s where I’d live if I lived in a building like this, you must have a wonderful view to the park!”

“Yah … I do!”

“Hey can I ask you something…?”

“Sure Vince. What?” She turned to face him. “She calls me Vince, something no one has called me for the past 100 years, it feels so good coming from her lips” He was lost in his thoughts.

“Hello… earth calling Vince!!” She said laughing waving her hand in front of his face “Where did you fly to just now?”

“Sorry …no one has called me Vince in a long time… I was just lost in that right now!”

“Don’t you like your name?”

“Yah, I do … but no one calls me that anymore, everyone calls me Chupa!”

“I can call you that if you want…”

“No!” Chupa said so fast she jumped on her feet. “Sorry… I just like that you call me Vince!”

“Fine… What were you going to ask…?”

“What? ...Oh that!” Ang shook her head side ways as if in despair but smiling. “What were you doing all alone in there, near the statues, it’s not safe!” He finally managed to say.

“I told you I’m not afraid. Remember? And besides that’s where my mum used to go, where my dad fell in love with her when he first saw her, and where he proposed to her! So that’s my Secret Place” Chupa looked at her, her face was suddenly overtaken by a bit of sadness.

“Really? That’s a beautiful story!” Chupa said looking at her. “Any chance of that happening twice?” he thought to himself the words he really wanted to say to her.

“I got go now!” She walked to the front steps and climbed tree of them to be at his height level, Chupa was standing near the first step. “See ya… and thanks!” She said stretching herself to reach him and giving him a kiss on the cheek. Chupa mouth opens slightly in amazement as he felt her warm kiss. No electric jolt this time …only warmth.

“Hum…!” She said smiling having the same thought. And started to go upstairs; Chupa stood there for a second and started to turn around but suddenly stopped…

“Hey …hun … Shit I only now realised I didn’t get your name!” He said sexily rubbing his hair.

Ang tilted her head and turned back facing him.

“You didn’t get it, because I didn’t give it to you and you didn’t ask!” She simply said. He smiled and waited.

“And…?!” He finally said, she didn’t answer just looked at him smiling, she was playing him. He shook his head smiling “Ok, Ok, what’s your name?” He finally said; she smiled acknowledging he played along.

“Angel!” She simply replied. The word Angel bounced in his brain and heart like a breeze.

“Angel… the angel that made my heart alive again!” He thought. She turned back to the door.

“Angel…” He paused “can I drop by your secret place and keep you company once in a while?” Chupa said insecure rubbing his hair.

“Anytime!” She said going in the building sending him a last look over her shoulder. “Definitely, anytime!” she thought. Chupa’s lips smiled widely as he moved away. Something was different, he was different, she changed something in him.
