The End

Almara sat in her tent. In one hour she would be wed. She was a little nervous, she looked down at her dress, it was a deep red, long and flowing, she knew it would please Ardeth she had overheard him telling Rick he hoped the dress was feminine. Almara walked over to a pile of presents she had been given. The women of the Med-jai had given her a selection of bangles and bracelets, the guardians had given her a sword, it belonged to the first ever guardian and was passed on to Almara, as she was their future. Her marriage to Ardeth had forged an alliance between the guardians and the Med-Jai.
Almara sighed, she was home and she was happy. Ardeth had given her his mother’s wedding ring as her own. It was a simple gesture, but none the less it made Almara do something she hadn’t done since she was a child. She had cried. Ardeth had assumed she was offended by the ring, and tried to apologise, it took a while but ever thing got sorted out. Almara couldn’t wait to Ardeth her present, he’d have to wait seven months, for she was pregnant and she knew she was carrying his son and heir, Almara’s thoughts were disturbed by Jonathan entering her tent
“Hello”
“Hello Jonathan” Almara smiled, she was pleased he had managed to get to Cairo on time, she and Jonathan had been thick as thieves as children, they were always up to something, and she missed him dearly.
“Are you nervous?” he asked
“A little, but I know nothing will go wrong”
“Good, good. Um I brought you a present” Jonathan said awkwardly shoving a small box into her hand.
“Oh Jonathan” Almara gasped as she opened the box to reveal a black leather choker, with a large diamond in the middle.
“It’s part of the diamond I got at Ahm Shere” he confessed
“Oh Jonathan” Almara cried springing to her feet and hugging her cousin
“I just wanted you to know, you’re the best friend a rascal could ever want” Jonathan stuttered. Almara was crying, remembering the things they used to get up to, she remembered the day they ripped off a group of American tourists. The ensuing chase through the back streets of the city was clearly etched in her mind.
“Jonathan, you are the closest thing to a brother I will ever have, and I want you to know if you are ever in trouble I’ll do my best to help you” Almara smiled with a kiss. “But I have a few final touches so if you don’t mind”
“No not at all” Jonathan beamed wiping the tears from his eyes as he exited the tent.

“Jonathan, is she alright?” Evie asked
“The kids getting married Evie, she’s fine”
“I heard what you said in their Jonathan and I’m proud of you, I know that was all you had left of the diamond.”
“She’s helped me out of so many jams, I wanted her to know how grateful I am” Jonathan shrugged. “Besides I still have a bit hidden away somewhere so don’t worry.”
“Good lets go and find Rick
