Chapter 6 – Ready for More

Oria glanced down at the gently slumbering frame of a man wrapped beneath a light blanket. Her fingers gently tugged it away and tossed it to the end of the bed, the man mumbled in his sleep and scrabbled around trying to pull the blanket back up. Oria waited till he was led on his back before wrapping her fingers gently about his throat and resting the tip of her cutlass just above his heart.

Yellowed eyes looked up in shock as her fingers tightened enough to awaken him, “You shouldn’t have come back… you know the penalty.” With a swift movement her cutlass shattered through his ribs and split his heart. The man gave a choked gasp and clutched at her shoulder as he faded back into oblivion. Oria stared down at him not quite letting the information sink in before pulling her cutlass free and wiping it clean on the tattered jacket of the Captain.

Tia glanced through the beaded doorway and watched as slowly Oria retreated from the room, “I thought it would help.” Tia whispered as Oria stepped level with her. The girl glanced at her and stared for a few seconds before nodding slightly.

“It was over when Jack killed him…” Tia glanced back at the once again lifeless body of Barbossa before following Oria into the main room.

“I wondered about bringing your father back… but I didn’t think dat was as good an idea.” Oria smiled faintly and headed for the door, “Jack was here… only a few hours ago. He was looking for you.” Oria paused and glanced back at the woman curiously.

“I hope you told him what I did to get the heart and walk away.” Tia smiled faintly and Oria laughed unsurely, “You didn’t say anything stupid did you?” Maccus appeared at the doorway.

“Come on.” Oria nodded and glared at Tia Dalma suspiciously before following him down to the long boat.

Will glanced around the tavern curiously before spotting what he was looking for, a very disgruntled Jack attempting valiantly to get an over-eager whore off his arm. Will stood in front of the table and waited for the pair to realise he was there, “For God’s sake woman I am NOT interested! You’re wasting your time.” The whore humphed and strode away in annoyance as Jack downed another quarter of a bottle before realising Will was there, “What do you want lad?”

Will tossed the pack of papers the random man had handed to him onto the table in front of Jack, “I think you should see these.” Jack scowled at them before his eyes rested on the wax seal, slowly he lowered his rum bottle and pulled the parchment sheets towards him curiously. Easing them out of the leather sheaf Jack glanced through them swiftly before pulling one out of the pile and studying it intently.

“Where did you get these?” Jack whispered as he flicked through the selected pages.

“From someone who called himself ‘a concerned friend’.” Will replied as he sank into the chair next to the pirate, “I thought you and Oria should know.” Jack nodded slowly.

“Oria’s not with me at the minute. Unfortunate circumstances…” He trailed off as he flicked over the last page and his heart froze. There in black and white was a reward for the capture of Oria De Monara for an inordinately ridiculous amount of money alive or dead.

“Jack whoever wants this knows something about her… they say they want control of land and sea. They say she knows something. Jack what’s going on?” Jack glanced up and scanned the room quickly his eyes lighting on exactly what he had expected to find.

“You’ve lead them right to us. Come on quick and silent, I’ll explain once we’re somewhere safe-er.” Slowly Will nodded and stood up as Jack slipped the parchments into his jacket pocket, he leaned over to Gibbs, “Get the crew back to the ship, anyone not there in two hours is left behind.” Gibbs nodded and slipped out of his seat with equal swiftness and disappeared into the back alleys. Jack nodded for Will to go out through the front door, “Down the side alley of the Drunken Sailor, east of here along the harbour line.” Will nodded and headed in the opposite direction as Jack slinked out of the back door.

“Completed with perfection. Well done.” Oria glared at Davy Jones.

“Well it wasn’t exactly trying now was it?” He chuckled and looked down at her as proud as a man studying his prize bull.

“Ready for something more are we?” Oria smirked.

“More than.” Jones paused in front of her and glanced her up and down curiously.

“We’re on our way to a ship that’s been wrecked. We will discuss any further… tasks after that.” Oria watched as he stalked away and down into his cabin, she sighed slightly and felt some of the tension leave her spine. It returned swiftly at the chilled voice.

“So you got your revenge then?” She spun on her heels and glanced back at the crustacean, she peered at him curiously.

“Bootstrap?” He nodded with a faint smile and stepped into the small amount of sunlight.

“I’ve heard some interesting tales about you while I’ve been on here. Far worse than that diary revealed.” Oria looked away uncomfortably, “I don’t condone it but I understand it… now I’ve been here for what feels like eternity and is only a few years in reality. You hoping for third time lucky?”
