Chapter 7


Jeremy woke with a horrible headache and Jack watching him.

“How do you feel?”

“Like shit. What was that stuff?”

Jack smiled. “Nothing you better get ready our guests are here.”

Jeremy grabbed his gun and stood.

“Do you really think that will stop him?”

“I am going to apologize to her.”

Jack smiled. “Jeremy I need the woman to complete my work and you have caused them not to trust us.”

Jeremy looked strangely at the doctor. “What are you talking about?”

Jack smiled. “They are going to kill you tonight because you will leave them no choice.”


Jeremy tried to push the doctor away but Jack slammed him back onto the bed and injected him again with the serum. Jeremy started to have convulsions while Jack held him down with one hand and looked around the recovery ward to see if anyone was coming. Jeremy began to relax and Jack helped him sit up.

“Now here’s your gun, go apologize.”

The Oomans scurried around the campgrounds enjoying the music and food as their guests looked on.

Brian smiled at Alia. “Come let’s get some food.”

Alia stood from her seat on the grass beside Shadow and followed Brain.

Lance sat in front of the group eating some fruit he had picked off one of the trees.

“Can’t eat the stuff from that frozen storage they serve.”

Sal’van growled at him.

“Did he just curse me?” Lance asked Shadow.

Rito chuckled at the Ooman. He smelled of rising aggression.

“He needs to be crushed.” Sal’van growled to the others.

Jeremy stood behind a row of trees watching the woman and the Medic Brian approaching the table of food.

Alia looked at the different meats.

“Most of this stuff is from the frozen storage like the beef and fish. Lance thinks they smell funny.”

Alia thought so too. Brian took a plate and handed one to Alia. “We can start with the fruit if you like.”

“Yes.”

They moved down the table.

Joshua and Cal walked over to the grass to sit with Lance and their guests.

“If he’s bothering you I can have him killed.”

Lance frowned at his Captain. Shadow shook his head in a negative fashion.

Joshua smiled. “You owe me twenty bucks.” He said to the Captain.

Cal frowned at Lance as he sat down beside a tree.

Jeremy creped around a line of trees quietly while watching the one named Shadow and his group through the raging bonfire. He stopped when he was directly behind Alia and Brian searching the table of food for something that did not smell.

“So you’re a fruit girl huh?”

Alia smiled at him. “It does not smell.” Brian smiled at her.

Jack walked towards the two at the table.

“Hey Doc” Brian said picking up piece of bread.

Jack smiled at them. “So are you enjoying yourself thus far?”

Alia nodded. “Everyone is peaceful.”


Holly watched her husband with the one named Alia. He never spoke with anyone who was not a scientist but there he was talking to her.

“Something wrong Holly?” William asked eating the grilled fish.

“Its Jack …He’s talking to someone who isn’t one of us?”

Aaron smiled. “He’s trying to be social Holly no need to be jealous.”

Holly looked at Aaron. “I am not jealous of an Alien.”

William chuckled. “I don’t think Jack cares that she is an alien.”

Jack moved close enough to inhale Alia’s scent. He growled. Alia turned hearing it and looked at him.

“I’m hungry.” The blond haired Doctor moved closer to her and reached around her to grab some fruit.

Alia backed to the table as Jack smiled at her. Brian moved between them and picked up some fruit. “This is the last one.”

Jack backed away from Alia. He could smell the aggression from her clan even though they had not moved. Alia’s hand moved toward the strap on her right thigh.

Brian smiled at Jack. “Sorry Doc”

“I will search further down the table.” He slowly walked by Alia looking her over and smiling as he met her eyes.

Brian looked to see that her clan was still standing. Then reason suddenly knocked him into the table and grabbed Alia.

“Jeremy!” The General yelled at him.

The music and festive talk suddenly stopped when the rest of the General’s army came to the scene with their guns drawn on Jeremy. He held Alia with the gun at her temple.

“Tell them to take off their helmets and weapons.”

Alia was silent. Jeremy pushed the gun harder against her temple. “He wants you to take off your weapons and helmet.” She mimicked their tongue.

They began to remove their weapons.

“What are you doing Jeremy?” Joshua said moving closer.

“Don’t try it Josh I’ll hurt her.”
His sweat dripped down onto Alia’s neck. He shook his head trying to stop Jack’s voice from speaking. Alia slowly reached for her dagger but Jeremy reached down, ripped off the strap, and wrapped his arm around her waist tightly.

Shadow and his clan were now unarmed.

“Let her go Jeremy.”

Jeremy looked at Lance. “I only want to talk to her Lance.”

Jeremy began moving Alia towards the trees. He noticed that the woman’s clan seemed to calm. He could even feel his captive’s body soften with relaxation.

Jack smiled from his position beside his wife as Jeremy ignored the warnings from the General.


Jeremy reached the trees and saw mucus dripping down. He looked up and screamed raising the gun towards Kayco. Shadow’s hand crushed his and the gun fell to the grass. Jeremy was thrown onto the table.

Alia watched the guard run at Shadow to fight him. Shadow grabbed him around the neck, lifted him four feet off the ground, and threw him into the fire. Jeremy screamed and jumped out of the fire running at Shadow and into the ten-inch wrist blades that slammed into his stomach. Jeremy gasped and slowly slid off them and onto the grass.


The army tuned their guns on Shadow. Red triangles appeared on the small army of twelve.

“Stand down” The general calmly said. The army was not listening.

“He killed one of us. “

“Hank Jeremy killed himself.” Cal said as his marines drew their weapons on the army also.

“Stand down Hank this is the last time.”

Hissing from the tree line made some of the army turn there guns in that direction.

“You can’t win here.” The captain said.

Hank kept his gun on Shadow. “He’s going to die sir.”

“Lance you go him.”

The corporal nodded.

“Take him”

The bullet pierced Hank’s skull and the army cadet fell to the ground.

“Drop your weapons NOW!” Cal yelled at the remaining men.

Kayco and Eli came from the forest hissing and displaying aggression.

“You can’t win.” The others dropped their weapons.


Jack smiled at the whole scene before him. The serum would be stronger this time and he would put more into the food. Once he increased the dose in the shots, he could control the people with his voice and then he could claim his queen and start his own race. It would be a science miracle. However, for now he would have to wait and find away to separate her from her clan.

Shadow watched the Doctor staring at Alia with interest.

“We will return home now.” Shadow growled to the others.

Brian looked at Alia. “Lance and I will take you back.”

Holly looked at Jack staring at the woman. “What are you doing?”

“I am just watching and making mental notes.”

“I don’t think she wants you Jack.”

Jack faced his wife and smiled. “How about a moonlight walk by the lake where I can clear you head of all this anger?”

Holly sighed. “Alright”

Jack took his wife’s hand and led her to the lake were Hara’s body floated.
