Chapter 7
Author's note:
I will get round to putting titles up soon, I promise. The story isnt going in the direction I was planning but I had a dream last night and decided to change the plot ever so slightly ;) I hope you like it, and thankyou to everyone who reviewed, your kind and encouraging words made me smile =] Thankyou! Let me know what you think of this chapter!
Jack tilted his head back and the last of the rum filled his mouth. It had never been like this, never before. Maybe if she wasn’t as beautiful or as breathtaking or funny he wouldn’t feel like this. But he did. Jack Sparrow was in love. He constantly had that silly grin across his face and he had never felt happier. She had intoxicated him, and he was glad. It had been only 2 weeks since their time at Tortuga but Jack felt like he’d always been with her. She was constantly laughing and joking with the crew, making Jack smile, even when she was in a bad mood she was beautiful. He slept next to her and woke up next to her. They hadn’t done anything yet but Jack didn’t care. When she’s ready...I’ll wait for her. He still managed to keep up his despicable behaviour, his rum drinking and his lack of decency. One does have a reputation the keep up after all! He had asked Gibbs to change course recently as going to see Tia seemed pointless now. He had allowed the crew choose a destination and they chose Singapore. Singapore. A bright and bustling town much like his beloved Tortuga, great sights, beautiful scenery and numerous taverns. They were estimated to reach Singapore in a number of weeks, but if the storm caught up with them it could be several month before they reached their destination.
Lizzie stared at the sky, deep in thought. She felt happy and content and even the thought of the storm coming up could not dishearten her. She heard footsteps behind her and knew who it was without even asking. The smell of the sea, rum and something exotic hit her and she smiled sweetly. She felt strong arms come round her waist and Jacks head resting on her shoulder.
“Luv, tonight you’re going to have to keep yourself company in the cabin.” He smiled mischievously at this, they had only kissed and cuddled in the cabin so far but Lizzie still loved it. One day I’ll be ready… she hated herself for it but she didn’t understand. Why she hadn’t slept with Jack yet? I love him… However, she always remembered the maids at Port Royal telling her she’d know when she was ready. She sighed, and a thought occurred to her
“Where are you going to be tonight Jack?” She asked curiously. Maybe he didn’t love their nights together as much as she did? The thought went though her like an icy knife and she felt her eyes tear up.
“Is it because of me? Do I bore you? Is it because I won’t…” Her voice trailed off and she knew she was overreacting. He hadn’t even had a chance to get a word in edgeways. She looked at him and he had a look of shock up his face.
“Luv, its got nothing to do with us” At this she smiled slightly, relieved he wasn’t tiring of her already.
“But if you look up, the clouds are turning mighty grey. There’s a storm heading our way and I’d rather steer the Pearl if that’s okay?” She nodded at this and leaned into his chest, hugging him tightly. He put his head on top of hers and held her close. Never had he wanted time to just freeze, before now that is. He didn’t how long they stood there cuddling and he didn’t care. He couldn’t believe his luck; he had his ship, a great crew and the most beautiful, amazing woman alive.
Lizzie held her grip on Jack’s waist and put some of her weight on his body. It had been a long day and a cuddle always made her feel happier. She breathed in the scent of him and couldn’t believe many months ago she had disliked it. Suddenly she felt a cold drop of water hit her head. She ignored it but then she felt another on her arm and another hit her back. She and Jack broke apart and she stared up at the sky, it was considerably darker than it had been moments ago. Jack looked at her and smiled sheepishly, she had the feeling he really did regret leaving her alone in the cabin. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him, not a rough kiss but a light, sweet, soothing one. They broke apart eventually
“Good night Jack” she smiled and hugged him again.
“G’night Lizzie. I’ll be in as soon as possible.” With that she turned and walked to the cabin, Jack just stared after her, feeling as though he had just been shot in the heart.
It had been several hours since Lizzie had left Jack to battle the storm. She had fitfully dozed and woken up and now was unable to sleep altogether. She wanted to see him, to know he was still alive, still okay. Deep down she knew he’d be fine but she just had to know. She grabbed her tunic and buttoned it over her shirt, she decided against a hat as the wind was still howling like a pack of wolves. She reached the door and pulled at it with all her force. She pushed her way through the door and headed immediately for the Pearl’s wheel. When she lifted her head, she could see Jack. He was fine, even smiling slightly and humming a tune. He was staring at the horizon where the sky was less grey than above. Lizzie was about to turn back to the cabin when a huge wave rose above the ship. She screamed and Jack looked at her with horror upon his face.
Jack quickly forgot about steering the Pearl, he forgot that Jack Sparrow never worried, he forget everything as he jumped over the bars to get to Lizzie before the wave. The deck was soaking and slippery but thanks to working at sea many years, Jack’s sea legs were well developed. He reached Lizzie as the huge wave hit the Pearl, setting it of course but Jack didn’t care, he was just within grabbing reach of Lizzie. The wave slammed down on them and the distance between them got wider. He lunged toward with all his might and grabbed her hand, pulling his way to her. Luckily the wave hadn’t tossed them aboard. But another slammed the two of them into the metal railing around the edge. Lizzie’s head hit the bar, as did Jack’s who immediately saw a bunch of stars flash in front of his eyes. He closed them for a second until he felt the pain lessen slightly, he peeked open an eye and noticed the waves had become considerably smaller than before. He smiled a slight smile and turned his focus to Lizzie. He shook her in happiness.
“Lizzie, love! It’s okay, it’s over! You can open your eyes!” Her eyes were shut and, for some reason, her lashes didn’t even flutter as the thunder crashed, lighting up the whole sky. Jack’s expression went from happiness, to shock to horror when Lizzie wouldn’t wake up. He whispered, he begged, he shouted and he shook her ever so slightly but she didn’t wake or stir. He noticed a small trickle of blood coming from her hairline and felt tears burn in his eyes. He lifted her up delicately so as not to cause anymore discomfort to her, and walked towards the cabin, placing Lizzie on his bed. He checked her pulse and it was getting stronger, he wrapped her in a blanket and hugged her close, forgetting all about the Pearl. She’s alive! That he knew, she was alive but unconscious. The railing must have knocked her unconscious, his own head was hurting but he couldn’t do anything. Nothing, except sit and wait…
