Sunset20: Haha yesss you got the name right dear! And I know…I should, but I’m not quite done with her yet …. BUT, your reasoning made me ponder, you’re right, even –shivers- Norrington deserves better. ((Now, let me tell you, that’s all to blame on Jack, I was quite fond of Jamesy, but Jack didn’t quite like him…it’s starting to rub off on me ^_~))
Chapter 6: Is there reason in love?
Will caught the slip of tongue of the elder pirate, realizing what he had meant to stay before he caught himself and recovered.
Probably best that he had, too, no one should love him, no one should fool themselves into thinking they do.
He wasn’t worth it.
Yet, the tingling sensation his lips still felt from the brief kiss gave him hope, a strange sort of wanting, needing, that he hadn’t even considered he felt for the elder.
As his fingers move up to touch his lips, he catches the pirate looking at him with an amused smile and blushes as he puts his hand back down.
Jack took the moment to rise to his feet, and again offer his hand, “I want you to make use of my cabin” He smiled, then continued at Will’s confused look, “I wouldn’t think you’d want to spend more time with the strumpet, and, my cabin’s the only available option left. No worries, I myself don’t use it that often”
Will nodded at first, then shook his head diligently, “I don’t think I should”
Jack sighed, “William, how many times must I tell you I will not harm you, hurt you or bother you in any such way?”
Will bit his lip, looking up at Jack as he too rose, “It’s not that… I don’t think I’m quite ready, especially not alone, in there. Those memories Jack… They have to go away. Help me.”
Jack had been hoping, waiting, to hear the words spoken by the blacksmith, yet, as he thought of it, he wondered if the youth indeed had meant what he’d expected, wanted, “As I said before, I’ll do what I can”
He moved to his cabin then, leaving the other the room to decide to follow or not, but, as he heard the footsteps behind him, he couldn’t help but smile.
Perhaps it wasn’t as impossible for the youth to return the feelings he felt.
Just maybe.
As he entered his cabin, the door left open behind him, he laid himself down on his bed, watching the door and there he was.
The youth came in quietly, closing the door, then locking it, “But…with the memories too Jack? New ones?”
Jack offered his sly grin, “Better ones William, better ones”
Will gave a nod, then moved to the bed, sitting down, “Jack? When you were…like I was…Did they ever make you…enjoy it?”
Jack sat up just slightly, “Aye, they did, somehow, they found that one of the greatest things, torture, rape, all the same, but the minute I enjoyed it, it was different. At those times, though now I know it wasn’t so, it felt as though I surrendered, submitted, and, because my body responded so strongly, that perhaps I wanted this torture, that perhaps… it was how I should be used. Now, I know that your body and your mind, as well as your heart, are very different things, and I shouldn’t feel bad over what I felt at that moment, cause it was but a natural response of my body.”
Jack smiled then, hoping that Will already from that understood that it didn’t make him sick, crazed and that he shouldn’t feel bad over it.
Will nodded again, looking at the pirate, taking in his features, for the first time really looking at him, “How can I trust you?”
Jack’s smile near instantly faded, “Have I ever failed you?”
Will bit his lip in doubt for a moment, then shook his head.
Jack stood, looking around, “Where’s the rum gone?”
Will looked about, spotting a bottle and reaching to grab it, then offering it to the pirate who took several large swigs, “Alright William, I confess, your bonnielass’s fate didn’t concern nor bother me, had it been up to me, I’d left her too Norrington.”
The blacksmith looked as if he were to interrupt him, but Jack shook his head as he continued, “You… however, left an impression on me from the beginning, in the smithy’s. You were stubborn, annoying… but beautiful. And in love. Sadly. Either way, it doomed on me seeing how certain you were to find the strumpet and save her, you might very well get harmed… And that, dear William, is why I joined you. I can’t tell you how sorry I am that I couldn’t help you when you needed me most, but you have your strumpet and Norrington to thank for that”
Will bit his lip yet again, watching the pirate and letting the information sink in, “You… cared for me?”
Jack offered a half smile, his arms waving about as he sauntered back over to the bed, “Still do”
TBC…
