Chapter 7
-16 Months Later- Padme Amidala, having just turned 18, stood in front of her mirror. She wondered when Obi-Wan would show up. She knew he would. Her handmaidens had all expressed their doubts that he would be here. But she knew. That visit just over 16 months ago made her certain. He wanted her just as badly as she wanted him. And they would be getting their chance as of tonight. She liked her gown. She was going sans makeup just for him. Sabè came into the room, “He’s not here yet and it is time, your majesty.” “He promised…” “My queen, perhaps he was just not that interested in you,” Sabè exited. He loved her, he had said. She knew he meant it. Obi-Wan would not have led her on; that wasn’t in his nature. She finished getting ready and moved to the veranda outside of her room. She smiled as she remembered Obi-Wan leaping up from the street to protect her the first time she had seen him. She liked that moment, their hands touching briefly and his smile lighting her up, “Padme,” she heard a whisper, “down here.” Looking down, Padme was greeted with her Knight’s face. “Are you ready?” “Yes,” she grinned. “What are you doing down there?” “Making a moment,” he answered before leaping up onto the edge of the railing and then jumping down to stand next to her, “how do you like your present?” “Oh Obi-Wan!” She embraced him tightly, a smile on her face. This was what she wanted most on her birthday. Him. “You are the perfect birthday present,” she laughed as he held her tightly, “Now come, I need to show you off to everyone I can!” “I can’t wait,” he rolled his eyes. “I’ll make it worth your while later,” she smirked. “Well in that case let’s not keep your guests waiting,” he flashed a sexy grin at her and Padme felt her heart melt a little. “You’re a tease.” “I know,” he grinned, guiding her back into her bedroom, “now let’s go. I’m starving.” “Very well,” she followed him out of the room and down the hall. “Behave yourself, my love. There are alot of very important people here.” “You’re the most important one,” he turned to her and leaned down to kiss her at the top of the stairs in full view of the entire banquet hall, “Happy Birthday, my beautiful queen.” Padme grinned when he pulled away, “It’s certainly become one. Let’s go downstairs now, my love.” “Allow me,” he offered his arm, which she happily accepted. After they ate, they danced. He whirled her around the ballroom, a smile on his face as they danced. Padme glowed all night, thrilled to finally have what she wanted. “I love you,” Obi-Wan whispered on more than one occasion. As a slow dance began Padme laid her head on his shoulder, “I love you,” she told him. “Are you enjoying your party?” “Yes, but I’m ready for bed now, I think. We’ve done our duty for the night and the party is winding down. I just have to say goodbye to the guests.” “Very well,” Obi-Wan smiled, “the sooner we do the sooner I can have you all to myself, after all.” Eventually they made their way upstairs. Obi-Wan shut the door and turned to her, “Are you absolutely sure about this?” “Obi-Wan, I’ve wanted this since I was fourteen. Yes, I’m sure. I want you. I’ve always wanted you. Unless you’ve changed your mind,” she hid a grin. She knew he hadn’t but she wanted him to say it. “I could never change my mind about this. I love you, Padme, and that won’t ever change. Ever.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him deeply. He pulled away momentarily, “I’m going to give you a night to remember.” “You already have, my love,” she smiled. He leaned down and kissed her again, passionately. They disrobed as they made their way to the bed. This was not how Padme had envisioned it, and that made it even better. Obi-Wan was a man on a mission: to please her, and show her what his heart and mind had been aching to do ever since their first goodbye. She needed him, “Please, Obi-Wan. We’ve waited so long.” He laid her down on the bed and stepped back, admiring her, “You are so gorgeous, Padme. So beautiful.” “My view is pretty nice too,” she smiled up at him, “come here baby. I don’t want to wait a minute longer.” He lay on top of her gently, “Tell me if I hurt you. I’ll stop.” “Obi-Wan, you have to start to stop. Are you really that shy?” “A little nervous, in fact,” he blushed, “I’ve actually never done this before; you’ll be my first, Padme.” She grinned and hugged him, “I’ve never done this either, my love. It’s our first time, and you can’t go wrong with me. You just can’t. Or do I need to convince you you’re capable?” Obi-Wan just bowed his head and she rolled her eyes, leaning up to kiss him, her tongue entering his mouth. “I love you; you can do no wrong with me.” Obi-Wan moaned into her mouth, his hands caressing her body sensually. Nervous though he was, he gave himself over to his emotions and stopped all conscious thought as he pressed his body against her, “I love you, my queen. Will you marry me?” “Y-you-are you…” Padme stared up at him in surprise. “I mean it, Padme. I want you to be my wife.” “Yes I’ll marry you!” She sat up and pulled him down to her. When morning finally hit she awoke glad to find his arms tightly around her. She settled into his embrace, happy to find that they really were nude and wrapped up in each other. Padme leaned up to kiss him, “Obi-Wan?” “Is it morning already?” He mumbled, squeezing her tighter. “It is,” she smiled. “Come on, wake up. I only get you for so long and I want to capitalize on our ‘us’ time,” she reached down and stroked him, “I’ll make you feel good.” “You already are,” he reached between her legs, “and you’re ready for me.” “Please, my love.” “I’m already yours,” he rolled on top of her and pushed into her. “Will you scream for me?” “Anytime you want,” she grinned, leaning up to kiss him. “Will you stay?” “I’m yours for a week,” he hissed as she dug her fingers into his back. “A whole week? So thoughtful of the Council.” “Thank Master Yoda,” he breathed as he thrust into her. “I intend to,” she gasped. They finally got dressed and headed down to breakfast. After breakfast they showered and dressed, then wandered around the palace gardens, “So about that proposal last night…” Obi-Wan began. “Did you not mean it?” “Oh no, I really did. I wanted to ask where a good place to go ring shopping is.” “I can think of a few places,” she smiled. “Am I going with you?” “I don’t know. Isn’t it tradition for the guy to pick out the ring alone?” “Well yes, but I want to go with you. I want to be with you now since we don’t have very much time together,” she smiled, squeezing his hand as they continued to walk. “Shall we go today?” “Yes,” she leaned up and kissed him, wrapping her arms around him. “I have meetings this afternoon, and then tomorrow morning. Then I’m free for a couple days.” “Think we can escape and go now? You’re not wearing your makeup and I am a Jedi,” he grinned. “Think you can climb over that fence wall?” “I can get us both over it,” he smirked. “Come here, lover.” “Ooh baby, I like it when you’re so confidant,” she teased, “You know you don’t need to impress me, right?” “Yeah,” he blushed, “but I feel like I need to assert my claim on you,” he grinned. “Let’s go then,” she leapt up into his arms and he leaped over the wall. They headed into town. It didn’t take long to find the store she wanted. He went in with her and perused the jewelry. There were three rings she liked, but there was one other ring that caught her eye that she made a point of avoiding. Obi-Wan understood why; he’d seen the price. It was easily the most expensive thing in the place. And Padme didn’t want to make him spend that much, so she avoided the ring. After about an hour, they left. Obi-Wan said he had an idea what ring to get and they returned to the palace. When she went to her meeting he headed back. “How much for that ring she avoided looking at?” “It’s 75000 credits,” the old man smiled. Obi-Wan swallowed hard. That was alot. “Can we haggle?” “Well we have had it for over three years; I think haggling is an option. Rings are meant to be worn, my young friend.” “30000.” “70000.” “40000.” “69000.” Obi-Wan sighed, “Look, I’ve already proposed to her. And she said yes. This ring is to commemorate and promise her that I love her and always will. I’m a Jedi; I don’t make much money being one.” “How much do you have, young man?” “I have 55000,” Obi-Wan blushed. “And I have some old things I could sell too. All told I can maybe get to 60000. Maybe. And that includes the money I need in case my ship breaks down in transit back to Coruscant. Padme is worth this though.” “I’ll give it to you for 45000. Queen Amidala has been a wonderful queen. She deserves a very happy marriage. And you certainly put a smile on her face.” “Thank you,” Obi-Wan smiled. He handed the old man the 45000 credits and watched him place the ring in a box and tie a bow on it. “Have a nice day, young Jedi.” “Thank you, sir,” Obi-Wan bowed and accepted the ring, placing it in his belt pouch. He smiled and exited the shop. Once back at the palace Obi-Wan meditated for a few hours and then contacted Master Yoda, “I’m fine, Master Yoda. I-uh-I asked her to marry me.” “Difficult, marriage will be. Do it able you will be.” “Thank you, Master. How will I be able to see her? She wants a family, and she will want me to be around.” “First Jedi to do this, you will be. Figure it out we will. Vacation, enjoy you must. Marriage, on Coruscant it will be held. At the Temple, it will be,” the diminutive Jedi Master smiled at Obi-Wan, “great Jedi, you are.” “Thank you, Master Yoda. If you’ll excuse me, she should be out of her meeting now and we’re having a ‘date’ tonight,” Obi-Wan grinned, “May the Force be with you, Master.” “And with you,” Yoda said, signing off. Obi-Wan sighed and got up, dressing for their date. Padme liked Obi-Wan in a Nubian suit. It appropriately fit him, and she could see his muscles better. She had a very attractive fiancé, and she wanted to show him off. “You certainly don’t look like a Jedi,” she smiled, her hands running up and down his chest. “Do you like it?”
“Very much,” she grinned, “it fits you so much better than that tunic. Now I can see your sexy body.” Obi-Wan blushed, “You look very attractive yourself in that gown.” “I’ve been saving this one to wear around you. It’s the lowest cut of anything I have,” she twirled for him, “shall we go to dinner?” “Certainly,” he offered his arm, “may I lead?” “Of course you may,” she accepted his arm and they headed out of the palace to the restaurant. Padme had completely forgotten that Obi-Wan was 29. He was mature, certainly, but he was very playful around her. She liked this side of him. After the dinner they went to the theater to see a play and then they went for a walk. He wrapped his arms around her and she sighed, happy to be in his embrace. “Padme, I have to ask you something,” Obi-Wan turned her around and reached in his pocket, “will you marry me?” He pulled a ring out and got down on one knee, “I want you to be my wife. I want to be with you for the rest of our lives.” “Obi-Wan…th-that ring…” “I know you didn’t want to look at it because it is so expensive but you’re worth it, my love.” “I can’t let you spend that much money on me. You are not a wealthy man.” “Padme, please. You’re worth it, and you still haven’t answered my question: will you marry me?” “Yes I will! You know I will,” she leaned down and kissed him. He placed the ring on her finger and stood up, kissing her. “Let’s go back to the palace.” “Just so you know, Master Yoda insists we get married at the Temple on Coruscant.” “I’m okay with that,” she smiled as he lifted her up and carried her upstairs to her bedroom. “I’m not ashamed of how much the ring cost, you know. You are worth every credit I paid for it.” “How many credits was that? I’m not worth 75000 credits, my love.” “I don’t think a gentleman reveals the price of the ring, my sweet.” “Obi-Wan! I am very used to getting my way; I will find out.” He grinned, “Not about this, you won’t. I’ll use a Jedi mind trick if I have to,” he chuckled to himself. “But-” “No buts, my dear. You need to understand something, Padme. I’m just as stubborn as you are. And I’m trying to be the best man that I can for you; I simply cannot tell you the price I paid for your ring. Just enjoy it. You’re worth far more than I could ever afford, my queen.” Obi-Wan ended the conversation as they returned to the palace, climbing the stairs to her bedroom. Once inside she turned to him, “I love you,” she breathed, kissing him, “I wish I could show just how much.” “You already have,” he whispered, “you waited these years for me. You could have anyone, Padme, anyone. And you picked me.” “So could you,” she smiled. “You don’t understand how amazing you really are, Obi-Wan. Women would kill each other for you. I was so worried that you would change your mind because you would see someone else you wanted more than me.” “That could never happen,” he whispered, kissing her. “You are all I will ever want. “ “Obi-Wan, let’s make love until dawn,” she unfastened his pants, “I-I don’t want you to let go of me. I want to be in your embrace all night long. I want to wake up in your arms.” “You can have that anytime you want,” he said, using the Force to unfasten her dress. Padme grinned as he pushed it from her shoulders, uncovering her body. “Now use it to remove your clothes,” she requested. Obi-Wan smiled and kissed her. Each button she touched came magically undone. She laughed, “I like this,” she pushed his shirt off his shoulders and kissed either shoulder before leaning up to kiss him on the lips, “now your pants, babe.” “Your wish is my command,” he winked.
