Collect Call
"We decided to go have a few drinks before we called it a night, but then as we got to the bar, there were cops all over the place and we slowed down to see what was going on and we saw Vince handcuffed and being put in a police car, they didn't even let us talk to him man" Jesse is so upset, he's out of breath and talking 100m/p.
Dom, Lisa, Mia and Eva come flying down the stairs, pass Jesse and Coco. Dom grabs his keys "“ he's obviously very angry. Eva shakes her head and shoots everyone a "˜Don't say a word' look.
"Eva come on!" Dom yells already out the door and she follows. The RX-7 is heard screeching out of the driveway.
Leon comes upstairs stumbling, still half a sleep, "What's all the noise, damn can I sleep!" Leon's face changes as he sees everyone's reaction. Mia asks Jesse what happened and Jesse explains again the whole story to both of them.
"Oh my God! He knows!" Mia bellows and plops down on the couch. Lisa throws her arms around Jesse. "All we can do now is wait" Jesse states. Coco paces in the kitchen grabbing a Corona for her and Leon. The phone rings and they all look at it "“ scared of the news that awaits them. Coco yanks the receiver to her ear.
"Hello?" she waits for the other end to respond.
"You have a collect call from...'Vince' do you accept the call?" the operator asks.
"YES, yes I accept the call" she motions for Mia and mouths "˜Vince' to the others.
"Hey V it's Coco, are you OK?" Coco's face goes blank, "Why?" she asks upset, without another word she passes the phone to Leon.
"Yo, brotha what happened man?" Leon sits in a nearby chair and places his hand on his head.
"He didn't want to talk to me," she says shocked.
"What do you mean?" Mia's confused.
"He simply said "˜I don't want to talk to you, put Leon on the phone,' his exact words. I mean what the hell did I do to him?" her voice sounding more hurt now.
"You didn't do anything to him Coco, but I know who did" Lisa says pissed off. "Mini fucked up, now we are all going to pay for it. This is how it always works with her." She grabs Jesse's hand and they head back to the living room. Mia looks back at Coco who is suddenly silent.
"So Vince thinks that you guys knew something and didn't tell him" Mia realizes.
Coco nods her head and frowns a little.
"I can't blame him for being mad, but he has no right." Coco gets up, leaving Mia sitting there and goes to Leon's room.
"Listen man, it's gonna be alright, Dom is on his way dawg. See you soon!" he hangs up the phone and sits next to Mia in the kitchen counter both silent for a while.
"Is he OK?" Mia finally asks.
"Yeah, he's fine. Just angry that's all, he didn't give me all the details but I know I've never heard him sound so hurt in my life" Leon taps on the table and stands up placing a hand on Mia's shoulder before walking back to his room.
Somehow this thing was affecting all of them. As mad as Mia wants to be at Mini she can't find her self to do so. There is no way she can place herself in her shoes; she wouldn't be able to handle it "“ poor Mini "“ poor Vince. The action of one person had changed all of their lives.
