chapter 8

chapter 8

Joey jerked awake. The setting sun though the floor boards showed her that she slept all day. She crawled out and walked out of the shack. She stared at he setting sun, wind ruffling her lose hair. She then turned and started walking. After 20 minuets she found the railroad tracks.
Joey followed the tracks to get back into town. She didn't know what was happening. All she knew was that she had been kidnapped. She was tired, physically and mentally. She needed to get away from Santa Carla. That was all she needed to know. Her eyes were so full of tears that she couldn't see where she was going. She tripped on a log and fell to her knees. She didn't want to get back up. She couldn't. She laid there for at least a half an hour crying softly to herself.

“There, there.” someone whispered in her ear. She looked up and to the left to see who it was. It was Dwayne.
Joey was too weak to get up and run away. She just laid there. “What do you want?”

“You should know what I want by now!” he said walking to the front of her.

“I don't know what you want and I'm beginning to think that I don't care!” she snarled.

“You should care since what I want is you!” he replied kneeling down next to her. Joey sighed. What was the point anymore? Maybe he'll kill her and be fast about it. He reached out his hand for her to take. She was just to weak and she needed the help. She reached out and gently lay her hand in his.

He pulled her up to her feet and pulled her close smelling her neck. “Where do you want to go?” he asked.

“Anywhere! Just far away from here!” she said, tears falling from her eyes. Dwayne pulled her even closer and they began to float in the air. They were flying above the ocean. It looked so pretty at night. Suddenly Joey stopped crying and a smile replaced her frown. The ocean was so captivating and Dwayne was so gentle. She couldn't help but want him to drop her into it so her troubles would be over.

He took her far away from Santa Carla. They flew for hours on end. Stopping here or there. Till finally they arrived back in Santa Carla at the cliff. Joey was stunned she didn't know what to say. Or what to do.

“Would you like me to walk you home?” Dwayne asked her giving her a little smile.

“No. I think I'll be ok.” she said giving him a small small. She started to walk the railroad tracks again. This time she was a little more at peace and nothing bothered her.

I like being so mischievous, Dwayne laughed to himself. I've got her just where I want her. And David's at his cracking point too!
Dwayne was flying home after a night alone with Joey. He had his plan all worked out. He was going to seduce Joey and then make David watch her die. It was the least he could do for David. David wasn't acting right since he met her. He wasn't eating he wasn't sleeping. All he did was think about her. And Dwayne wanted to change that.

David sat in the cave by himself. He couldn't believe what he just did. Joey was the only girl he had ever felt this way with and he was scaring her away. Well, of course he had a great reason why he was scaring her. He always scared the girls. Yet they were still drawn to him. But Joey had not been. Plus she was so innocent and troubled that he could not help be drawn to her. She didn't know the truth. But he knew she was close. But she didn't know the truth behind it. What was really going on.
He was going to tell her. He was going to go to find her tonight. Tell her everything. Spill his heart to her. And hope she understands. David got up quickly and was headed for the door when Dwayne flew in.

“Well, well. If it isn't the lover boy David!” Dwayne laughed. “How could you leave the only girl you ever loved like that? I know you want to turn her but you shouldn't have to let her escape. She could have hit her head again.”

“I was just on my way out.” David made for the door but was blocked.

“I was there. You though I had gone but I hadn't. I sent the boys off without me and I watched the whole thing. I followed after she gave you the slip. So earlier tonight, I went. I toke her flying. We went a long way a way from Santa Carla. She like it too. Someone had to be there for her. Since you went running like a little pussy.”

“You bastard.” David charged at Dwayne taking him by the neck turning into vampire form. He threw Dwayne against the wall. “You touch her ever again and I swear you will get to see your first sunset!” This comment scared Dwayne because he knew David was good for it. “I know what your plan is and its not going to work. It will never work. Nobody is going to ruin this for me. NOBODY!” David threw him down on the ground and flew out the door. He was headed to look for Joey.
He reached a barn with in five minutes. David could sense her inside. He really need to talk her. He had to guess were at in the barn she was. It wasn't hard. He found a couple of bales of hay torn and made into a bed. Joey was sleep in the middle, curled up to keep warm. She looked so tired and weak that David felt shame go threw him.

"Joelle?" He whispered softly.

Joey jumped up and looked around .She looked up and saw David and immediately rushed outside, away from him.

"Joelle!" David tackled her and picked up her struggling form.

"Let go! Let go! Let go!" She shouted and struggled. Joey tried to hit and kick and bit him, but he was too strong.

He carried her to the barn and took her inside.
“There is something I have to tell you.” David sat Joey down on some hay. “There is a reason why I can fly. Its going to be hard to explain but I think I can manage. I have something...something evil inside of me. Its something unnatural and dark.”

“So what is it then?” Joey didn't look frightened or confused in anyway. She just looked impatient and pissed.

“I'm,” he hesitated, “I'm a...vampire.” he turned all of his attention now to Joey.

“I already knew!” she said looking at him.

“What?” David looked confused.

“That night you took me to the cave. When your hand had my blood on it. I could see you fighting something off. I didn't know what it was. And then later when I found out that you could. It was like everything was fitting together. Then your friends attacking me on the railroad tracks. It just kind of hit me after a while. But then you and your...friends...started talking about turning me into whatever it is you are, sharing me or what ever. And I didn't know that was even possible.”

“Look, Joey. I don't care what they say I won't share you. I wouldn't do that to you.”

“No. I like I said before, I don't belong to anybody. But I'm tried. I can't run any more. I was never meant to live my life on the run. If you want to kill me do it quick. I will not fight you," She heaved a tried sigh, " not anymore. I'm not afraid.”

“Its not about being afraid Joey,” David shook her, “ I don't want to hurt you. I will never kill you. You are different from the others here. I must and will have you." With that, David turned in to vampire form and grabbed and bit hard into her neck. Joey yelped and struggled, but felt herself becoming weaker and weaker as he drank. Finally she passed out.

David sighed, then lifted up with Joey in his arms. When he got to the cave the boys started to surround him, but backed off when David snarled at them. He placed her on the bed and clipped the chain back on to her ankle. He hated to do this, but he can't have her running away again. He turned to the boys," Any one, and I mean anyone, touches her, the same threat I gave Dwayne, will go for the rest of you."
