The Coming of the Queen

CHAPTER 8- KINDRED CONFRONTATION

Chupa walked back to the coven with a wide smile on his lips. He could have just flown there but he was so out of his mind he chose to walk to savour the night and to try to grasp everything that had happened.
The night was quiet and the stars were shining bright in the sky, and he could only think about her. His Angel, his life’s Angel, would it be possible for a vampire to fall in love just like that, fist sight, first touch, how could it be? A creature like him wasn’t destined to love or to be loved, or was he?
Chupa walked for about 2 hours, reaching the outskirts of Harlem, he walked up hill to the big abandoned house in the woods. He suddenly stopped at his track and smiled looking to his left.

“Do you want something or are you just having fun trying to kill me again?” Chupa asked looking into the darkness. A Huge figure arose from the shadows.

“What do you want with her?”

“I should ask you the same Daywalker, are you following me or her?” Chupa asked looking Blade in the face.

“I’m trying to protect her!”

“Ha… Your love for humans kicking in… Good!” Chupa said smiling wide

“Since when do YOU have interest in them?” Blade asked

“Since I met her!”

“I don’t believe you and sooner or later your hunger will get the best of you and you will kill her… and I will be there to stop it…”

“LISTEN BLADE” Chupa boomed out “If you want to protect her, do it, I would even thank you if you did it!” Blade didn’t believe what he had just heard.

“Hum… what is so special about her, that you would like me to protect her?”

“I don’t know …you tell me… you flew away from her… you sense something different on her as I do too!”.

Blade was speechless, Chupa was right, he did flew away because he felt in her a kind of energy that humans don’t have, something different, something familiar.

“So you’re telling me you’re interested in this human…”

“Angel…” Chupa spat out interrupting, Blade looked at him at took of his glasses.

“Angel?”

“Yes… that is her name! And I don’t want to hurt her, I won’t, I can’t…!” Blade looked in his eyes.

“Fuck me Chupa! You’re in love with a human!!!” Blade said laughing.

Chupa dropped his gaze to the floor “What if I am… what is it with you?!” He said angry.

“Easy cowboy… just a remark …she is human after all!”

“Well guess I’m not that different from you than, I love a human now!” Chupa let out of his mouth as if his heart was spelling out the words for him. “Yes I do love her, my Angel, my life, my heartbeat!” As Chupa thought, sadness overtook him. He was in love with a human, how impossible could that get?

Blade looked at Chupa for some time.

“Maybe that’s why you can’t kill me! Maybe you’re not supposed to kill me! Who knows! Right?” Chupa managed to smile back at Blade.

“No Chupa, you know I never miss a kill, you ARE good, but so am I! I’ve tried wasting you many times, but you don’t go down! And anyway I got worst blood suckers to kill!” Blade said strongly. Chupa smiled. “But if you hurt her, I’ll die trying to kill you and I will succeed! I promise!”

“Good! Then do me a favour and protect her. She’s got my mark and that will grant her some protection… but not from vampires from other clans or cities!”

“You’ve marked her?!” Blade said astonished. Chupa nodded and walked away.

“Blade, just protect her when I’m not around!” Chupa said vanishing into the dark of his coven. He was back home. Blade stood there completely puzzled with the night’s happenings. What was she and what did she do to him and to Chupa? He felt so drowned to her when he sensed her energy flowing with Chupa, he couldn’t take it. It was too warm, too damned good.

Chupa walked through the dark corridors of the coven, something was wrong he sensed fellow vampires hiding in the dark, waiting for him. His fangs grew and his eyes got fiery, he clenched his fist waiting for the first one to hit him. Out of nowhere vampires, his fellow vampire charge at him fangs shinning and grown, trying to dig them into him. Chupa flew back avoiding contact, bouncing here and there trying to avoid killing his brothers. “What’s wrong with them? Why are they attacking me?” Chupa thought flying in the main living room, to manoeuvre himself better, avoiding the vampires’ strikes coming from all directions. They had hate in their faces, hissing menacingly as they charged him. A vampire flew straight at him and threw him over the big mahogany table. Chupa fell on his back.

“Shit!” Chupa got up swiftly “What’s wrong with them, they ought to know they don’t have a chance with me, I could kill them all if I wanted, low rate vampire scum!” He thought. Suddenly 3 of the vampires charging at him burst into flames and hiss as they became ashes.

“STOOPPP! I ORDER YOU!” boomed out into the whole coven shaking the ground beneath them. Chupa turned his head back and looked over his shoulder.

“Lexus!”

“Leave Now!!” The elder man hovered near Chupa, as always wearing his huge black cape and his turn of the XVII century black suit. He had long, straight, black hair and black shiny eyes that could shiver any vampire just to look at them.

“Chupa… welcome back!”

“Thank you Master Lexus!” The man smiled.

“You know I’m not your master Chupa!”

“No Lexus, but you are a very good friend!” Lexus looked at him.

“What’s wrong with them?”

“They think you betrayed our kind... by walking around with humans!”

“A human!” Chupa spat out.

Lexus looked at him worried. “What is wrong with you… what are you doing walking around with this girl… marking her?” Lexus asked looking straight into his eyes.
Chupa sighed and sat down across where Lexus was standing, Lexus joined him. A woman came in and poured them a drink.

“Well… don’t you trust your old friend anymore?”
Chupa looked at him. “That’s not true… I do trust you… I just don’t know what to tell you!” He said sighing.

“That bad huh?” Lexus grinned. “Just speak what ever is going through your mind!”

“Well… she…” He paused “Angel!”

Lexus eyes opened wide.

Chupa smiled at Lexus face “Yah Bro that’s her name, my Angel… I don’t know, she just drowns me to her, even Danz … and Blade felt weird around her!” Chupa laughed.

“The Daywalker?” Lexus had a I-don’t-believe-this-shit look in his face.

“Yah… the Daywalker… funny he came to the park as I did to protect her, we both heard her screaming… I got there first, she was screaming in pain… she was having a sort of vision about Akasha…ever heard of her?”

Lexus was speechless.

“Hey Lexus!! Man! Do you know this name?”

“Yes… a long time ago… but go on… please I urge you!”

“Well… she’s works in a Public library and she found a book about Lestat, and she’s a vampire lover…” The word lover bounced on his heart as he breathed deep and resumed “…she reads a lot about us… I think she even knows more about vampires then, those old excuses for vampire scum that attacked me. She’s got this energy…” he smiled “She calls me a walking energy magnet she said I have a shocking personality, every time we touch we feel electrical jolts!” Lexus looked at Chupa, he was glowing just by speaking about her, he was breathing so fast and talking so fast it was getting hard to keep up.

“Chupa, brother… calm down your thoughts are running out of your mouth…!”

Chupa smiled. “I can’t help it, ask Danz he was stunned by her too, you should see her!”

“Maybe I will!”

Chupa looked up at Lexus suddenly with a worried look in his face.

“Calm down, I said I would see her not kill her or turn her! And if I did, what would you do…?” Lexus was testing his friend, this woman, she was special, was she HER? He wondered. He had to know how far Chupa would go to protect her. Chupa just looked at him, his eyes fired up and Lexus could see death in his friend’s eyes. “That far? Good!” Lexus thought.

“I don’t think you would do that… as soon as you look into her eyes, her soul, you’ll melt, and you wouldn’t be able to touch her… besides, I asked Blade to protect her from every vampire.” Chupa simply said.

“Blade?” Lexus laughed, “She’s got two guardians! The two best bad ass vampires that ever lived!” Lexus said laughing so laud the walls shook.

“Fuck, I’m sorry for any vampire that crosses her path!” Lexus was breathless the whole situation was too damned weird. Chupa was protecting a human with the help of Blade, the Daywalker. Freaking unbelievable.

“What’s so funny?” Chupa asked.

“You and Blade protecting a human, brother you will make a lot of enemies in the vampire nation! Protecting a human and teaming up with Blade for that! Watch you back bro! I might not be there to protect you next time!” Lexus said tapping his friend’s shoulder.

“You know I could have killed these stupid vampires, I just didn’t want to, they are still brothers, scum… but vampires, but I will if I have too, just to protect her!”

“Your Angel!”

“Yah… my Angel!” Chupa got up to leave to his quarters.

“Are you going to see her tomorrow night?”

“Maybe...why?”
“You told me I should see her… right? So I’ll track you and see if you’re with this Angel of yours. OK?” Lexus asked putting his arm around his friend.

“Sure… but be ready … she will get to you!” Chupa said grinning “And …errr… she’s off limits, ok Lexus?” Lexus let out a loud laugh and walked with his friend.

“Will you tell me about, Lestat and that Akasha person… Danz and I got petrified tonight… she was crying in pain… and one of her tears was blood!” Lexus looked at Chupa, his faced looked paler then before, as if that could be possible. Chupa was worried.

“In due time, I will! Let me digest all you’ve told me, and let me see her, than we will talk! Ok?”

“OK Lexus!” They walked silently to each quarters, the sun was coming up in less then an hour. Both of the men had a lot on their minds.
