CHAPTER 8
5 Years After AWE
“Momma I steer! I steer!!” Willy yelled excitedly as his mother stepped up to the helm.
“I see and you’re doing a wonderful job.” She smiled at him before turning her eyes to the pirate holding him steady on a barrel so he could reach the wheel and see the horizon.
“Morning Luv.” Jack smiled back at her before returning his attention to the 4 year old manning the helm. The past few years had been wonderful for her. Never had she imagined herself happy after Will had been cursed, especially not this happy; somehow she felt guilty about it. If it was possible the life she led had actually turned out better than the life she had always imagined with Will. There wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t think about him, but she silently thanked him everyday for Willy and her freedom.
“Morning Captain.” She kissed him on the cheek before sneaking behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned into his ear so only he could hear her. “You are more than I ever hoped for Jack Sparrow,” it warmed her heart every time she witnessed him and Willy bonding. She couldn’t have asked for a better substitute father than Uncle Jack. It amazed her that he was so patient with the child, so nurturing, so unlike his legend. But then again, he was like that with her too.
“I know exactly what you mean luv.” He smirked at her, but his eyes held the real emotion behind his answer. He loved her more than anything else, if he had to he’d put her before his ship and before the sea, and there had been times in the last few years when he came damn well near doing just that.
“Captain Willy would you like to go and get something to eat below?” She asked the child.
“Aye!” Willy yelled excitedly.
“What?” She asked clearly waiting for a polite answer, he may be a pirate but he would have proper manners. At least she would try to teach him them.
“Yes Momma,” and the boy rolled his eyes at his Uncle Jack and the pirate had to do everything in his power to contain the laughter.
“Go along Willy,” Jack said as he lowered the boy to the floor. He then turned to Lizzie and said, “ye know he’s just like ye, don’t ye?”
She smiled at him and nodded her head. “And he seems to want to be just like a certain uncle of his.”
At that Jack laughed, “Smart lad. I do have everything going for me.” He replied cockily.
“Oh yes, let me see you have freedom, the sea, and the Pearl.” She replied eyes rolling.
“Your forgot one very important thing luv.” He smirked at her and leaned in to kiss her when her eyebrows knitted in question, “you” his eyes locked on hers.
Her heart melted, “Jack.”
“Don’t” he pressed a finger to her lips to silence her, “I know. I can’t believe I said it either aye? Turned me into a big ole softy.” To which he broke the moment and received a playful smack on the chest. “I don’t think my name is synonymous with fear anymore.”
“Please Jack, Fear was never something that came to mind at the mention of Captain Jack Sparrow.”
“No?”
“Conceited, arrogant, bloody insufferable, absolutely mad and….” She paused and placed a finger on his chin as his eyes began to look like those of a wounded puppy. She smirked before continuing, “most importantly devilishly handsome, and the love of my life.”
A huge grin spread across his face at that comment to which he immediately replied, “and don’t forget better in the sack than the bloody eunuch!”
“Jack!” She scolded him, not because what he said was inaccurate, “Will is not a eunuch and Willy doesn’t need to hear such things, let alone about his father. It amazes me how you can be so wonderful one minute and a complete child the next.” She was slightly exasperated with him. “Never did I think I would STILL be hearing that, I regret the day I ever told you.”
“Pirate Lizzie.” He threw a fake smirk at her as she strolled below to feed her son leaving Jack to his thoughts.
Jack saw the door leading into what was technically his first mates cabin ajar so he strolled in quietly. It could only mean Lizzie was tucking the boy in before heading back to the cabin she shared with Jack.
She was stroking his hair out of his face and watching him sleep when Jack snuck in behind her.
“I can’t believe how fast he’s growing.” She was almost silent she spoke her statement so quietly.
“Aye. Quite the little pirate he’s becoming.” Jack smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Will hasn’t even met him.” She sounded almost heartbroken by the thought. “Doesn’t even know he exists. I really wish he could know his father.”
Jack didn’t really know what to say. She would periodically mention Will and how she missed him or how Willy didn’t get to know him. He knew she still loved him, he wouldn’t expect her not too. He’d found her talking to the chest on more than one occasion in the last years and he figured that was expected. On one occasion he’d over heard a bit that set him at ease to the whole thing, she’d thanked Wills heart for letting her be with Jack confessed to it how she loved him and how she would be lost without him. That gave him all the confidence and strength he needed to deal with these sporadic sad moments. He pulled her into his arms and held her to him, letting her know he was there for her, as he always was and would be.
“Soon enough he’s not going to want me to tuck him in anymore.”
“Rest assured luv that’s still a few years off, and even so I can guarantee that I will require that service for all eternity.” He knew he had to lighten her mood a little, reassure her that he loved her and wouldn’t leave her.
She smiled at him, “and ill be more than willing to oblige you Captain.”
“Well its settled then. Its certainly getting to be past me bedtime so you’d better come provide me with said service.” He smirked at her as he pulled her to her feet and into his embrace.
“Gladly.” She kissed him briefly before leading him out of the cabin and into the one they shared.
“Jack I need to tell you something first.” She placed her hands on his chest to stop his advances.
“What is it Lizzie?” Suddenly he was concerned. She never took that kind of tone with him before and there was never a first to the tucking in part. There would frequently be an after and an after after, but never a first. His mind was suddenly swarming with thoughts and concerns. Was she still mad at him about his earlier eunuch comment? She always got mad at him for it…but never that mad. It was always something they would laugh about later. Maybe she was more upset about Will right now than he thought she had been.
“You really are great with Willy.” She paused to meet his eyes, which were locked on her face, “and I know you treat him as if he was your own.”
“Aye.” He couldn’t help but wonder what her point was and he was getting slightly alarmed.
“Well what would you say if I were to tell you that you were going to officially be a father instead of just a father figure?” She bit her lip and lowered her eyes to the floor, wondering if maybe she should have broken the news a little less directly.
She’d looked away too quickly to notice the huge grin that spread across his lips. He moved a hand to her chin to regain eye contact with her. “Lizzie, are ye pregnant luv?”
Surely he would ask her and not get the hint. She merely nodded her answer, still somewhat concerned about how he would take the news since they had never discussed a child.
“Oh. Well in that case I’d tell ye its wonderful news and cause for celebration!” He pulled her into his arms and kissed her ever so passionately, making her wonder what had just happened.
“So your ok with it?” She smiled and asked somewhat disbelieving of his excitement.
“Its bloody fantastic!” He kissed her again.
She had never seen this degree of enthusiasm coming. Yes he was wonderful with Willy. But Willy wasn’t his responsibility.
“So does that mean you still want me to tuck you in?” She asked playfully.
“Luv, I think ill tuck you in tonight, after all ye are in a more fragile state.” He moved his hands to her belly briefly before sliding them slowly to her back and pulling her near.
“I love you.” She kissed him; his only response was to kiss her back wrapping all he felt for her into the kiss rendering her speechless.
“He’ll be the most fearsome pirate to ever sail the seas! More legendary than either of us. A pure bred rogue.” He kissed her again before picking her up and carrying her to their bunk. He stripped her slowly, leaving hot kisses across cool flesh. His head was spinning; he was going to be a father. He was in love – a fact he didn’t vocally admit very often. His eyes met the object of his affection and he was immediately lost in her world and the thoughts that went with it. He’d always thought he’d had his freedom but little did he know that her love for him gave him even more. He had never felt more free than he did standing at the helm these days: Willy on his hip and Lizzie on his arm. Willy wasn’t even his; he could only imagine what the feeling would be like when there with them was his child, their child, and a true representation of their bond. Of course he would be nothing like his own father. He silently made himself that promise.
“Jack.” Lizzie’s voice brought him out of his daydream.
“Sorry.” He smiled timidly considering he felt bad wandering off when she was clearly waiting for him.
“What were you thinking about?” She questioned, trying to hold off her hunger to have him long enough to make sure he was ok.
“Ye wouldn’t believe me if I told ye.” So he kissed her again only to be met by her hands pushing him off at his shoulders.
“I would believe you Jack. I always believe you, what is it?” Damn she was persistent, another reason he adored her so.
“Was thinking about how the sea has infinitely improved for me since ye took over residence on me ship and how the little bird will be a whole new adventure for us.”
“If that’s your way of saying you love me Jack….” He kissed her then and pulled away speaking his next words against her lips.
“I love ye Lizzie, and Willy, and the little bird. Ye gave me a freedom I could never get on me own and fer that I am eternally thankful.”
She couldn’t contain the grin that spread across her face; it wasn’t often that Jack laid bare his emotions. Usually that information came as a result of an argument or in a moment of drunken self-doubt that she needed to remedy. This time it came from his heart. While all the other times she knew he meant it, this time it wasn’t a means of getting her to forget her anger.
She was so lost about his words she hardly realized the hand that was currently between her legs stroking her ever so faintly, teasing her, and begging her to return to earth so he could send her off to another place entirely.
“Jack…” she moaned and arched against him silently begging for a little more pressure in just the right spots.
“Mmm” he stopped sucking on her ear lobe to look at her. “Ye like that I know.” He slowly slid down her body stopping briefly at her stomach where he pressed his lips for an extended moment and whispered something inaudible to her. He then slid lower lifting her legs to rest them on his shoulders.
She felt his tongue slowly, agonizingly, slowly run across her folds before it was suddenly inside her, lapping at her juices and stroking her inner core making her squirm and moan like only he could. There was no other man in the world that could make her feel as free as he could.
When he returned to her face she smiled lazily at him and ran her fingers through his tangled mane. She slowly rolled him over and climbed on top of him pressing her lips to his pumping heart. After all the time they had spent with each other, all the times they had been intimate since that first time, she still loved to listen to his heartbeat. It was something Jack had come to understand about her. He leaned to kiss the top of her head and whispered lowly “not going anywhere luv” to reassure her that nothing could rip him from her world. Deep down she knew he would never leave her, but the comfort of him reminding her always put her at ease.
Her eyes lifted to his and she smiled “I know,” and kissed him for what had to be the hundredth time this evening. “Permission to come aboard Captain?” She asked playfully as she positioned herself over his throbbing main mast.
“Your boarding party is welcome anytime luv” He smirked up at her and she couldn’t help but smile at how corny they could be with each other. It was yet another one of those quirky things about their relationship that she had come to adore.
