Though I have borrowed the names of some of the characters, and some spells from Charmed, this is mostly my own creation, my own idea, and i make no profit from it.
Goodnight, not Goodbye
The five of us walked Molly to her car, the guys hung back a little ways, but not to far off. Druex was looking at me with a speculative gleam in his eyes, I wondered what he thought of me now. When Molly tried to take off my cloak I stopped her. “Keep it for now. I’ll get it back from you.” She searched my eyes, I could see the haunted shadows swimming behind the blank look, the one you forced to show so that no one else could see the truth. “Did you mean what you said before?” I knew what she meant. “Yes. Do you have something to write with?” She nodded and dug around in her car, coming back with a pad of paper and a pen.
I wrote my number at the top of a page. “I don’t care what time it is, I want you to call me if you‘re having a hard time.” I wrote her a note under my number because I didn’t want to say anything out loud with Druex there. And so that later, when she woke up after a nightmare, she would have something to help her stay sane.
‘You aren’t alone, you aren’t the only one he hurt and he’ll get what’s coming to him. I’m here for you, anytime.’
She read the note and nodded, her eyes shining as she hugged me. Just like that, we were friends, brought together by a fucked up boy who’d hurt us both. She stopped before she slipped into her car and looked at me again. “What you said to Tiffany, about kicking her butt.” I snorted. “Meant that too, what good’s a threat if you don’t follow up on it?” She gave a small smile and nodded.
Peyton touched my hand and I turned to him, he looked so solemn. “You should have dropped him.” I sighed wearily. “Yeah.” Druex came up on my other side with a little confused frown. “Did I miss something?” I smiled at him and wound my arm around his, the muscle under his skin rippled, like silk over steel. “Yeah, maybe I’ll tell you about it sometime. You rescued me again.” He laughed as we all walked back to the beach. “You keep getting into trouble.”
Tristan snorted. “That’s what they used to say about us. We’ve corrupted you Cherish my love.” He said sadly. “Welcome to the club.” Riley said jovially. Peyton was silent.
“You know, blue blooded snobs do not say Fucking A, nor do they backhand other girls in public.” Druex drawled and I batted my lashes innocently, god I was flirting! “Oh, I must have skipped that chapter in my Miss Manners book.” Peyton snorted derisively. “Actually, you skipped the whole book. Across the Millers Pond.” I kept my sweet little girl act. “Really? Odd, I thought I’d burned it.”
Riley clapped his hand on Druex’s shoulder and heaved a sigh of resignation. “My man, don’t let her pretty face fool you. That girl is a termagant.” I reached behind my back and tossed a zap of power at Riley, right on the ass. He had to bite back a yelp. “You get that off your word a day calendar?” Druex grinned down at me, his eyes glowing in the darkness, laughing, sparkling with liquid heat. It made my belly jerk. Yum.
I didn’t want to, but we had to leave. Time had just flown by way to fast. Druex set me back up on Necromancer and I wished my guys hadn’t have been present, otherwise I would have leaned down and kissed his mouth instead of his cheek. “Good bye.” He shook his head. “Goodnight, not goodbye.” My heart shivered, oh he was soooooo handsome. I nodded, feeling a blush heat my cheeks. “Goodnight.”
