The eclipse had begun and it seemed the world was truly coming to an end. Hellboy was on his knees and chained to a large pedestal, unable to move even as Liz’s soul was sucked from her body. John had forced himself to look away, the pain in his skull from the blow he had received from Ilsa’s sledgehammer intensified at the movement but he simply couldn’t watch as the life was sucked from his friend’s body.

He could only imagine how Hellboy must have felt at that very moment, losing the fire starter so soon after the death of his father. There was only so much heartache a person could take before breaking down and it seemed the demon had reached his breaking point. Rasputin was yelling at him to fulfil his destiny but it seemed his charge was deaf to his words, head hanging in misery as the Russian glared at him.

“Your true name, say it!” Rasputin demanded as he pulled the demon closer, he received no response though which only angered him further. To John’s eyes he looked about ready to explode, which would probably be better for them, as he ripped the Professor’s rosary from the demon’s wrist.

“Become the key.” Rasputin said as he threw the prayer beads in the agent’s general direction, discarding it as unimportant as Hellboy suddenly slumped forward in defeat.

“For her.” The demon whispered, so soft he almost didn’t hear it and as he saw the clear sense of satisfaction come to life on the Russian’s face he wished he hadn’t really heard what he’d heard. Those words meant defeat, the end of the world as they knew it and the fact that his childhood hero wasn’t going to do anything to stop it hit him harder than Ilsa’s earlier blow. He remembered reading the demon’s comic books as a kid, knowing that no matter what happened Hellboy always came out as the victor. It seemed that this time that wasn’t going to happen though, now that both Liz and the Professor were gone he just didn’t have anything left to live for.

“Anung un Rama… repeat it.” Rasputin said as Hellboy raised his head to look at him, the barest of nods the only sign of acceptance as John felt the last of his hope shatter into a million tiny pieces.

“Anung un Rama.” Hellboy repeated, the sound of locks popping open and wood smashing to the ground breaking the sudden tense silence that had enveloped them. John watched, helpless, as his charge stayed where he had been chained down instead of attacking the one man who had taken everything he had ever cared for away from him. Rotating his head slowly as his horns began to grow and his stone hand burned with an almost evil glow.

Hellboy rose to his feet as the red light of the eclipse illuminated them, a burning crown emerging to hover between the demon’s almost full grown horns as he rotated his head again, the sound of bones popping making the agent wince though he couldn’t look away from the sight of his friend changing into the one thing he never wanted to be.

Every breath the demon took burned in the cold Russian air as he stepped down from the pedestal, making his way over to the large marble structure without making even a passing glance at any of them. Rasputin eagerly followed the demon as Ilsa watched the scene unfold from beside him, so caught up in what she was witnessing that she didn’t even notice him trying to wring his hand free from its shackle. If only he could reach for the rosary left at his feet, maybe he could use it to talk some sense into his charge. It was a long shot but he had to try, he just couldn’t sit by idle as the end of the world drew nearer.

Hellboy stopped before the large marble stone and inserted his stone first into one of the holes serving as keyholes with a grunt, a blinding bright light instantly emerging from the marble and shooting up into the sky as the demon let out a loud, animalistic growl. John struggled harder against his chains as the carvings in the marble burned like the marks on the demon’s stone hand, hoping that maybe the blood from his injuries might slick his wrist enough for him to pull free but it seemed that not even the red liquid could help him gain his freedom.

The demon yanked his stone hand from the hole with a grunt and John panicked at the sudden movement. He was out of time and with absolutely no way of stopping his charge from bringing forth a Hell on Earth left as his wrist remained firmly shackled to the wall with the rosary far out of reach. He had to think of something, anything he could do to convince Hellboy not to do this before it was truly too late.

“Open the final lock.” Rasputin commanded as the demon instantly moved to follow the order, hand already halfway in place before John yelled the first thing that came to mind as a final attempt to stop him.

“Remember who you are!” The words hung in the air between them, seeming to shatter some semblance of control the demon alter ego had on his charge as the stone hand slowly pulled away from the keyhole once again. Hellboy turned around to look at him and John felt like he could cry with joy, seeing just a flicker of his childhood hero in those golden eyes gave him enough hope to think that maybe everything could turn out alright after all.

Ilsa suddenly twisted around to hit him with her hammer again but he was ready for it this time, kicking her legs out from underneath her and bringing her down to the ground with a loud slam as he instantly brought his leg back up to kick her in the face with a sickening crunch. The blow left her unconscious but unfortunately he didn’t have the time to feel satisfied about bringing her down like that as Rasputin chose that moment to speak up again.

“Believe me, I have lived long enough to know that not a tear will be shed for this world!” The Russian yelled in anger as he glared at the bound agent, hate filled eyes quickly widening in fear as the demon turned to look at him, a glare of his own already in place.

“Be silent.” Hellboy said as John’s eyes widened at the sound of his voice, familiar yet at the same time so very different from that of his friend. Anung un Rama, as John now fully realized him to be, focussed his eyes back on him as he quickly crossed the distance between them. Rasputin choosing to stay silent even as his plans for a new world were put on hold.

“Explain yourself, human, and I might consider to let you live.” The demon said, voice gruff and much lower than he remembered it to be as he lowered himself to be at eye level with the bleeding agent. John briefly considered staying silent so he wouldn’t have to face the demon’s wrath but discarded the idea as quickly as it had come. If it meant bringing his friend back to his senses and the world not coming to an end he would gladly lay down his own life for the greater good.

“This… This is not who you are, Red!” He said as he looked Anung un Rama in the eye, trying to find something he might recognize of his charge in that burning gaze. “You just have to remember that Abe and Liz and even your father believed that this was something you were never meant to become…” He trailed off, hoping his words might make the demon realize he always had a choice, that he didn’t have to be something he didn’t wish to be.

“What if they were wrong? What if this was truly all I was meant for?” Anung un Rama said without even blinking twice as John’s mouth fell open in shock. He just couldn’t believe the hard-headed hero he had so admired would think something like that, not after how hard he had fought to prove you didn’t have to be who everyone wanted you to be, that you made your own destiny regardless of what others thought of you for doing so.

“That’s not true…You can’t possibly believe that.” He said almost desperately, wanting nothing more than to hear the demon deny his earlier words, to just go back to being his crude, if a little self absorbed partner so that they could at least pretend all of this never had happened. Nothing changed though, Anung un Rama was still staring back at him from Hellboy’s body, Liz was still dead and he was still completely helpless to do anything about it.

“Maybe I do.” The demon said with a sort of finality that cut in to him like a knife as he once again rose to his feet and made his way back to the glowing marble structure. Rasputin looked annoyed he had been forced to wait for this long but as he saw the demon stop before the door again, ready to plunge the world into eternal darkness with a single gesture of his hand he couldn’t contain his pleased grin any longer.

“Please… I’ll do anything, just don’t do this…” John yelled as he pulled at the chains holding him down, wishing he could do more than just try and convince the demon not to bring forth the end of the world. It seemed his words had peaked the demon’s interest though as he glanced over his shoulder to look at the agent.

“What could you possibly have to offer me that would interest me enough to give up on my destiny, little human.” Anung un Rama asked him, one eyebrow raised as he trailed his eyes over the human’s broken form. Under any other circumstances John might have blushed as he felt those burning eyes on him but not now, there was simply too much at stake to feel embarrassed about what he was about to do right now.

“Nothing… I don’t have anything to give you other than…” The agent tried to say, words caught in his throat as they refused to be said.

“Other than what?” The demon asked as he turned to fully face him, smirk in place like he already knew what the agent wanted to say. John turned his gaze to the snow covered stones before him, unable to look his charge in the eye as he sacrificed himself.

“Myself. I’ll give myself to you if you promise to stop this from happening.” John closed his eyes and took a deep breath before looking up again, mentally preparing himself for whatever answer the demon would give his proposal.

“Yourself?” Anung un Rama repeated, a hint of amusement in his deep voice. “You’ll give yourself to me, for what purpose I wonder?” The demon asked as he stepped away from the large marble structure in favour of closing the distance between him and the young agent. Rasputin let out an annoyed yell followed by what John assumed to be Russian swear words, though neither one of them responded to the sound as they were too focused on each other.

“I don’t care what you choose to do with me, as long as the rest of the world remains safe I’ll do whatever you want me to do.” John said, hoping his voice at least sounded confident even though the emotion wasn’t felt by him in the slightest. Anung un Rama brought his hand up to cup the agent’s face, forcing him to look up as the demon frowned down at him.

“You would willingly sacrifice yourself for the good of mankind, for people who do not know you and will never know of the things you had to give up just so that they may continue to live their miserable little lives?” The demon questioned him like he didn’t believe such a thing to be possible, didn’t believe there would be someone so self sacrificing that he would give himself up without even a second thought at the consequences. John was quite willing to do all that and more if it meant the safety of those he cared about though.

“Yes, I would. Just because I don’t know all those people that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be saved, to be able to live their lives even if it means I won’t be able to live mine.” The agent said as he met the demon’s gaze without shying away, having already decided he was going to stick by his words no matter what. Now it was all just up to Anung un Rama to decide upon his fate as well as that of the entire world.

“Very well, I accept your offer.” The demon said as he let go of John’s face, the agent’s eyes growing wide as he stared at his charge as he snapped the metal shackles holding him down with ease.

“Y-you do?!” John asked as he was released from his bonds and pulled to his feet, the pounding in his head from the possible concussion he had attained earlier spiking out. He ignored the painful feeling for now though knowing that ensuring the future of the world was more important than his own temporary misery.

“Yes, but only under one condition.” Anung un Rama said as he frowned at the blood flowing freely down his face, a look reminding him strangely of concern and worry in the demon’s golden eyes as he gently corded his fingers through the agent’s hair.

“Which is?” John asked, trying not to flinch at the surprisingly soft touch the demon was bestowing upon him. He had thought that now that he was more or less the demon’s property he wasn’t going to be feeling another’s gentle touch anytime soon but apparently he was wrong. The agent leaned in to the hand supporting his skull like it was made out of the frailest of glass, taking comfort in the touch after so much pain and fear had invaded his system in the past few hours. It wasn’t until the demon pulled away again after having located the source of the blood that he realized what he had been doing, thoroughly embarrassed at his own weakness for allowing it to happen in the first.

“I fully get to see what I will be getting later after these wounds have been looked after.” Anung un Rama said, either not picking up on his bright red cheeks or choosing not to say anything about it for which John was thankful. It wasn’t until the full implication behind the demon’s words hit him that he really felt his face burn though.

“You want to see me, all of me?” John asked, voice cracking slightly at the thought of ‘presenting’ himself to the demon. Anung un Rama just smirked at him though and that look alone made him realize that that was exactly what he was going to be doing.

“Yes, unless you wish to go back on your promise already?” The demon asked him and John actually felt a little insulted he would even suggest something like that. John T. Myers never went back on his word no matter what.

“No, I said I would do it and I’m sticking with what I said.” John said as he crossed his arms over his chest, flinching as the motion jarred his scratched up wrists but refusing to let them fall again as he caught the demon’s amused look at the defying stance he had taken on. He had hoped that falling back into a position of power by taking on the stance he had often taken on as Hellboy’s liaison might make this situation a lot less surreal and easier to deal with but it didn’t seem to be working all that much yet. Anung un Rama owned him now and no matter how hard he tried to deny it they both knew it to be true.

“Very well.” The demon said with a smirk as he brought his hands up to gently cup the agent’s face before leaning down for a kiss. John’s eyes widened as he felt the first initial touch of soft, warm lips against his own and froze, suddenly unsure of what to do. Was he just supposed to accept it like nothing was wrong? Like the act of another man, a demon no less, kissing him wasn’t very strange and completely awkward to him? After a moment’s thought he figured that, yeah, that was exactly what he should be doing. After all, who knew what Anung un Rama would do if he suddenly refused him, he held the whole of mankind in the palm of his hand and that simply wasn’t something John could risk losing just because he didn’t swing that way.

John let his eyes slip closed as he pressed back against the lips covering his own, trying to think of it as just another meaningless kiss even as he felt the demon’s tongue asking for entrance to his mouth. He shyly parted his lips at the touch, welcoming the tongue in to his mouth with his own as his cheeks grew warm.

Even as the kiss progressed he just couldn’t seem to wrap his mind around the thought that he was making out with his charge’s evil alter ego. What really freaked him out though was the realization that it wasn’t as horrible as he had expected it to be. It was actually kind of… nice, like when the demon had ran his fingers through his hair only this feeling was much softer and more intense.

The agent moaned softly through their kiss, eyes instantly flying open again as he realized the embarrassing sound had came from him. He pulled back from the kiss only to regret the move mere seconds later, not only because by doing so he had defied Anung un Rama’s wishes but also because he sort of missed the feeling of the other’s tongue in his mouth already. The demon just grinned at him as he let his hands fall from the human’s face only to place them on the agent’s hips instead.

“What’s wrong, Johnny? Getting a little shy, are we.” Anung un Rama said as he pulled John flush against him, alerting him to the very defined bulge in the demon’s torn leather pants.

“You didn’t seem to mind my tongue down your throat earlier so why start now?” He continued, running his tongue down the column of John’s neck, the side that wasn’t covered in blood, mind you. The agent gasped as he felt the slick appendage trace over his skin, hands instantly flying up to grab at his charge’s shoulders, stuck between pulling him closer and pushing him away.

“You could have at least asked.” John complained though his argument was rendered moot as he moaned again, loud and clear this time, when he felt one of the demon’s hand slip from his hip to grope him through his pants. Anung un Rama smirked against his skin at the sound, pulling away from his neck to look down at him once again.

“Fine, fine…” The demon said, smirk only growing larger. “CanIkissyouagain?” He said so quickly it was hard to make sense of the words at all, before John got the chance to say anything about it though his charge brought his lips down upon the agent’s once more. His surprised gasp morphed into a shameful moan, hands sliding from the demon’s shoulder into his hair as their simple kiss escalated into full blown dry humping.

Okay, so maybe he wasn’t as straight as he had thought he was, he had to be at least a little gay for allowing all of this to happen so quickly, right? Perhaps that blow to the head had given him brain damage, maybe even a mild concussion that had resulted in him not being able to tell right from wrong, black from white or gay from straight. No one could blame him for being a little confused after the events of the day anyways so he simply decided to stop caring and just enjoy the kiss while it lasted. A thorough roll of the demon’s hips against his own only cemented the thought in his already distracted mind as he became an avid participant in their sinful little act.

The moment he gave in the demon separated their lips again though, pulling a whine from John’s throat as the agent instantly tried to close the distance between them again, and act he would deny if ever brought up.

“There I asked this time. Better?” Anung un Rama asked, knowing very well that what he had done was not better in any way, but he was a demon for a reason and therefore didn’t really care about the thoughts of others. Except for maybe his little human’s thoughts but the kid was a special case so that didn’t count.

John glared up at his charge as he was denied his kiss, words barely registering in his mind even as he managed to create a response.

“What’s the point in asking if you don’t even wait to hear my answer?” The agent shot back, giving a slight tug at the demon’s hair in a bold move of defiance. If Anung un Rama wasn’t going to play fair then he wasn’t going to either.

“So hard to please.” The demon said, a small pleasure filled grunt escaping from his lips at the pull of his hair. John blushed at the sound but didn’t let go, keeping his hand firmly fixed in the dark locks. “But alright, if that is what you want I’ll stop forcing myself on you, for now.” His charge said even as the grip on his hips tightened ever so slightly.

“Who said that’s what I wanted.” John replied as he used the hand in the demon’s hair to pull him closer. Anung un Rama raised an eyebrow a the action but allowed it, not one to complain so soon after the situation had turned in his favour. As they kissed again he realized that perhaps it was not his destiny to take over the world after all, maybe he was just meant to rule over one human instead of the entirety of mankind. The agent rolled his hips forward and the demon smiled, realizing that he didn’t mind the thought all that much.

AN2: God, even when I try to make John straight he still ends up gay. What is up with that?! And on a side note I intended for this story to be much darker but as I was typing it just wouldn’t work for me TT.TT I guess I just want my stories to be as happy as my characters even when they’re not supposed to be happy…

Oh well who knows maybe next week I’ll write something less fluffy and sweet *determined*
