Love Can't Wait
Chapter9: Love Can’t Wait
Elizabeth climbed onto the deck of the Black Pearl still clutching her suitcase tightly. Ana Maria approached her immediately. “What are ye doin’ here Mrs. Turner?”
“Oh hello Ana Maria, I’m here to see Jack.”
“Oh are ye now?”
“Yes.”
“Where’s Will?”
“I left him.”
“Fer Jack?”
“Yes, where is Jack?”
“In his cabin darlin’.” Elizabeth thanked Ana Maria and headed towards Jack’s cabin. Her heart was beating so hard that she could hear it perfectly in her ears. She was moments away from being reunited with the love of her life. Elizabeth walked slowly down the steps leading to Ja cab cabin. She almost could not believe that she had had the courage to leave Will and come to Jack. Elizabeth knew that here onboard the Black Pearl with Jack Sparrow was where her heart was. This was where her heart had been all along. The only on son she had married Will Turner was because he was everything that Jack Sparrow was not. Will was security, familiarity and ordinary. Jack was different, he was spontaneous, vivacious and adventurous.
He was everything that Elizabeth Swann had always desired. She had known that Will loved her and would take care of her so she married him. Elizabeth had not known until just recently where she stood with Jack and what she meant to him. Part of her had wished that she had been brave enough to come right out and demand Jack’s feelings for her. But she had been terrified to put her heart out on her sleeve for Jack to rip apart had he not been in love with her. Elizabeth could not read Jack’s mind and he made no apt tpt to declare his love so she had only done what had seemed best at the time. Then Jack Sparrow had come crashing back into her life on a dark rainy night to tell her that he loved her. Her heart had nearly leapt out of her chest when Jack had confessed his love to her.
It was almost like a fairy tale dream that she had never wanted to wake up from. Jack had taken her in his strong arms and held her closely to him. So close in fact that she could still recall feeling his heart beat against her breasts. She stopped just in front of Jack’s cabin door hesitant to open it. Elizabeth wasn’t certain if she should just walk in or announce her arrival by knocking. After a short debate she opted to be proper and knock. Elizabeth knocked softly on the cabin’s door. A moment later it was flung open and there in the doorway stood Jack with a broad grin plastered on his handsome and ta fac face. “I was beginnin’ t’ think ye weren’t comin’ love.” Elizabeth smiled at Jack as he stepped aside and gestured for her to enter his cabin.
She walked into the large cabin, Jack immediately taking her suitcase. “So did ye tell Will darlin’?”
“Yes he knows.”
“What did he say?”
“He was angry Jack, he loves me still.” Jack took notice of the pale purple bruise that had formed on her cheek where Will had slapped her.
“What happened t’yer cheek love?”
“Oh nothing. It’s not important.” Jack sat down Elizabeth’s suitcase and took her hand gently.
“Ye needn’t lie to me darlin’. Tell me the truth.” Her hazel eyes lowered and watered with fresh tears. “Did Will strike ye love?”
“Yes Jack, but it was my fault. I pushed him to it.”
“Tis never a woman’s fault that a man hits her.”
“It doesn’t matter now Jack, I’m here and we’re together.”
“Aye love, together forever.” Jack placed a sweet kiss on Elizabeth’s forehead. “Was this hard for ye love?”
“Yes, but worth it. Because love is something that cannot be made to wait.”
“Is that so love?”
“Yes. I tried to make my love for you go away by marrying Will and you see how that turned out.”
“Ye can’t tell yer heart not to feel somethin’ love.”
“I know that now and I came back to you.” The two shared an innocent kiss as lover’s who were free to finally be together.
