Dark waters
Toshia was blinded by the sun, when she tried to open her eyes. The day was rising over Quatura again, and she had no memory of even falling esleep, in the first place. She had sat down with the others , and then, one by one, they had told stories about the 'Gods', their history and their individual lives....
Tanun had passed away right after the festivities, leaving Odan crushed. In his honor, many of the stories told that night were his.
Squinting and raising a hand above her face, to block out the sun, Toshia lifted her head to look around. An ocean of sleeping bodies surrounded her, all resting against each-other, in a huge mind-blowing 'human quilt' formation. When she looked beyond the sleeping crowd, she was relieved to find that, although their ship still hovered silently above the piramid, the aliens were nowhere in sight.
When the chime on her com-device went off once again, Toshia struggled to break free of her sleeping arrangements. Shyann's head was resting against her belly and her own arm was trapped under Odan's rib-cage. Toshia had seemingly fallen esleep against his chest.
Toshia slowly but surely, lifted Shyann's head up with her free hand, while she wiggled her other arm out from under Odan. Having managed to release her other arm, she was now able to shift her body out from beneath Shyann. Once she was free, Toshia gently rested her still-sleeping friend's head on the ground.
No longer wrapped in bodies, Toshia rose and quickly tip-toed over at least twenty villagers, before she was able to find a safe place to activate her bracelet. The communication that came through made her livid...
"You have your orders Nitro, we have disabled the time device and will not let you through, until you confirm that you have obtained the alien samples. Be assured, that if you arrive empty handed, you will be arrested without trial and accused of disobeying a direct order."
"BASTARD!" Toshia let out, in a vehement high pitched whisper, just before she noticed two aliens coming round one of the village huts and heading in her direction.
Toshia took off. The aliens hadn't spotted her yet but she knew all to well, they were zooming in on that damned transmission bracelet of hers. She ran as fast as her legs allowed; zigzagging around the tiny huts and eventually dissapearing into the jungle that bordered Quatura.

Ra'jon'te had gone into the jungle to have some peace and quiet. To him, this particular region of the ooman planet was almost like home; same dense vegetation, same hot humid air. He had been casually sitting on a high up branch when he heard through his gauntlet, that another energy distortion had been detected by the ships' sensors.
Knowing that Ti-Zook and Kajar had been sent out to find it's source, he didn't bother to move from his perch. The two warriors could do just fine without him.
About a dozen minutes later, Ra'jon'te practically fell off of his branch, when an ooman scream of unprecedented magnitude ripped through the thick jungle air. Although he was not one to be bothered much by another's pain, curiosity definitely got the better of him; urging him down from the tree to investigate. Ra'jon'te followed the screams; running at a good pace and was there in a matter of seconds....

Toshia stopped running long enough to see if she had been followed. When she was certain that the coast was clear, she walked over to the small river that ran through that part of the jungle. The water was dark and calm, with trees and vines leaning over it, giving it a real 'National Geographics' appeal.
Toshia was hot. She had scraped her feet pretty badly; the skinny thong type sandals she wore weren't any good for running and she desperately wanted a bath. The pictoresque water looked more than appealing, finally convincing her to indulge herself in it.
Toshia took off her sandals and then her clothes before slowly entering the luke-warm river. She waded out until the water was almost at shoulder level, closed her eyes and tried to ignore the mushy river bottom squishing up between her toes. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as the water cooled her down, but her pleasure didn't last long...
Toshia's eyes popped open and she let out a startled cry. A sudden sharp pain had cought her off guard, right in the back of her left calf. Her body jerked as she instinctively brought her knee up to feel her calf. As she felt the back of her leg, another sharp pain, this time on her forearm caused her to yelp again. When another pain hit her right thigh, followed by her right arm and foot, Toshia's eyes grew wide with terror.
Realizing now that she was being bitten, repeatedly all over her body, Toshia panicked, struggling violently to get out of the water. She let out a scream of sheer anguish as she tried to get a grip on the murky river bottom. Her feet kept sinking into the mud and the bites and pain increased, making it almost impossible for her to move forward.
Still screaming at the top of her lungs and damned near close to loosing her mind from the pain, Toshia's body twisted in every direction, desperately trying to avoid the relentless incisions being made in her flesh. Once again, Toshia's life flashed befor her eyes; certain at that point that she was done for.
Just when she thought that all hope was lost, an invisible force tried to grab hold of her arm. She in turn tried frantically to hold on to it, but she was unable to focus because of the pain. Finally, the ghostly vision was able to grab hold of her in a most unconventional and uncomfortable fashion...

When Ra'Jon'te found the source of the screaming, at the edge of the nearby river, he couldn't believe what he saw. "What is that crazy ooman female up to again, and why in Paya's name is she not with the others?" he thought, as he moved into the water.
He knew she was suffering, but he couldn't possibly figure out why. One thing was for sure, the intensity of her screams made it clear to him that he needed to get her out of there, immediately.
When he dove his arm into the water to grab her, she moved so spastically, that he was unable to get a grip on her. He tried for a few more seconds, but her urgent screams were starting to aggravate him in the worst way. "Stop moving, stupid female!" he raged inwardly. Finally, for lack of a better way, he was able to get a good hold of her hair and lifted her clear out of the water.

When the invisible force grabbed her by the hair and lifted her out of the water, Toshia instinctively brought her arms up to hang on to 'IT', whatever 'IT' was. She was carried back to the side of the river (by the hair still) after 'IT' took the time to bat a few still-biting fish from her bleeding naked body.
Even after being carried by her hair and dropped on the river bank like a bag of shit, Toshia could not have possibly been any more grateful.
When the alien decloaked in front of her, the suspicions she had started to have a few split seconds earlier were confirmed. Toshia was dazed from her severe adrenaline rush. She looked down at the countless tiny bleeding bite marks that covered her body but was unable to react.

Ra'Jon'te's gauntlet resounded when Lord Go'Jin hailed him.
"I've just been informed that the ooman female 'Toshia', has left the designated perimeter . Be on the lookout."
"That won't be necessary my Lord, she is with me as we speak."
Lord Go'Jin let out a growl of discontent as he responded. "Bring her to me, she needs to be taught a lesson."
"With all due respect, My Lord, she is already paying dearly for her disobedience," Ra'jon'te offered, looking down at the hundreds of bleeding wounds that covered the ooman female's body.
"I will be the judge of that. Just bring her here," Go'Jin snapped, growing impatient.
"I don't think she is in any condition to walk," Ra'jon'te argued.
"THEN CARRY HER!!!" Go'Jin roared, before terminating the communication.
Ra'jon'te rolled his eyes as he ordered the ooman female to follow him. "Come," he grunted, looking down at her.
He watched as she painfully managed to stand, before he turned around to lead the way. The ooman female followed as best she could, walking slowly and gasping in pain at every step from the wounds around the base of her feet. After a few excruciatingly long minutes, Ra'jon'te finally took pity on the miserable creature and turned back.
"Why me?" he thought, as he scooped up the tiny female's body into his arms, causing her to yelp in pain once again.
_______________________________________________
Locking on to Ra'jon'te's position, Lord Go'Jin was right there waiting for him, when he appeared out of the jungle. Shyann, who had been the one to signal Toshia's disappearance in the first place, had asked to accompany Go'Jin.
Go'Jin had warned the ooman leader's daughter that Toshia would have to be punished for leaving 'the designated perimeter'. Shyann had begged him to have mercy on her, reminding him, in all humility, that Toshia was a stranger amongst them, and did not know their ways.
When Shyann spotted Toshia in the 'God's' arms as they came out of the jungle, she started running towards them, literally leaving Lord Go'Jin behind, in doing so.
Shyann's eyes grew wide when she saw the countless and bloody bite marks on Toshia's body. "Oh no, Toshia! No swim in river, Toshia!" Shyann said, breaking down in tears as she spoke.
Lord Go'Jin was equally shocked at the extent of the damage on the ooman female's body. He had to agree with Ra'jon'te that she had been punished enough already. "Well, she certainly is not from around here, or she would have known not to swim in waters filled with carnivorous fish...," he observed, leaning over her semi-concious form.
The wounds on Toshia's body had started swelling and she was barely able to stay concious at that point.
Shyann knew this kind of physical reaction all to well. Normally, when one of the tribe's people was afflicted with this kind of reaction to a wound, they would have to cut the affected limb off, or else they would die.
In Toshia's case, that was obviously not possible, and shyann knew that only a miracle could save her friend.
"Toshia will die. Please help her, I beg of you, great one!" Shyann cried, dropping down on her knees in front of Go'Jin. "I will take responsibility for her actions if she disobeys you again!"
Looking down at the ooman leader's daughter groveling at his feet, the alien leader took a moment to think. "This would most certainly be a good occasion for another demonstration of our power and benevolence", he reasoned. It was also an excellent way for him to maintain the ooman's idolization of his race. That the request was coming from their leader's daughter made it even more reasonable...
"Bring me some healing salve." Go'Jin ordered, as he took Toshia out of Ra'jon'te's arms.
"Lots of it"....

Toshia was barely aware that she had been transferred from one pair of arms to another. All she knew, was that everything hurt and she was getting really cold. Her body shivered uncontrollably as she was laid down on a warm hard surface that burned her flesh at its contact. Her back arched as she cried out, tears rolling down her cheeks.
How she wished that she had never accepted the mission...
"You're hurting me!" Toshia cried, as she unsuccesfully tried to prevent the large alien from spreading a badly stinging goop, all over her body.
______________________________________________
Lord Go'Jin had set Toshia's wounded body on top of the altar, for all the Quaturians to see. Henday declared to his people that the 'Gods', had decided to forgive Toshia's misconduct, because she was not a native of their land.
Shyann and Peya-Luna stayed by Toshia's side, exhibiting expressions of deep concern on their faces, as 'The God', known as 'Go'Jin', started to rub the sobbing female's body down with a bluish paste.
"You be alright, Toshia. Gods help you," they both tried to reassure her.
In a matter of seconds, Go'Jin's large hands had completely covered the female's small body with the healing paste. Knowing that the salve would cause even more pain as it penetrated the wounds, he injected her with a stong pain killer that knocked her out within seconds. With the strange ooman female quiet and out of danger, Lord Go'Jin told Henday to make an anouncement to his people.
And so, with Henday's declaration that 'The Gods' had saved Toshia from certain death, with their powerful magic, all of Quatura bowed down to them in amazment; convinced more than ever, that their lives were in good hands.
Most satisfied that his plan had been successful, Go'Jin hailed Ti-zook.
"Ti-zook, tell the un-blooded to prepare. The hunt will begin at sundown."
