Singapore At Last!

When Tobias shouted out that he spotted land Jack ripped his spyglass from his pocket nearly hitting Barbossa in the face with his elbow. Barbossa glared at him as he opened his mouth to speak.
“Watch what yer doing ye fool!”
“Oh bugger off Barbossa…m’ captain of this ship so m’ the one who’ll be shouting out orders. Gibbs!”
“Aye sir?”
“How much longer until we make port in Singapore?”
“Shouldn’t be much more than an hour sir.”
“Excellent. The sooner we make port the sooner Xian can help Elizabeth.”
Barbossa shook his head as he watched Jack place his spyglass back into his pocket. So it was back to more foolish thinking that this witch of his was going to save Elizabeth. Deciding he could hold his tongue no longer he cleared his throat making Jack cast a sharp glare at him. Paying no heed to Jack’s sharp look he spoke.
“Jack…stop being foolish an’ jus’ abandon this whole plan ye got in yer head t’ save Elizabeth. There’s nothing left t’ save.”
Jack drew his pistol and marched over to where Barbossa now stood. Pressing the barrel of his pistol right in the middle of Barbossa’s forehead Jack grit his teeth as he spoke in a low and strained voice.
“Take it back mate…before I shoot ye dead an’ be done with yer worthless hide!”
“Ye know m’ right Jack…it’s why yer so upset. Elizabeth is beyond saving…jus’ let her be.”
“I said shut it…don’t push me Hector! I’ll send ye back t’ hell an’ this time it’ll be for good!”
“Jack…Jack…don’t be so dramatic…yer not thinking with a clear head boy. Ye love her…it’s why ye can’t see what’s right in front of yer face. The girl is gone…jus’ let her go.”
Pressing the barrel harder into his forehead Jack scowled as he glared into Barbossa’s icy blue eyes. Barbossa chuckled dryly as if daring Jack to pull the trigger while the rest of the crew stood staring in disbelief. Jack gripped the handle of his pistol tighter to try and keep his hand from trembling. God how he wanted to just pull the trigger and be done with him! It would be so easy to just pull the trigger and be rid of him. Just as he was about to pull the trigger Elizabeth’s voice rang out across the deck making him freeze where he stood. She ran up the steps to where Jack and Barbossa were standing on the wheel deck.
“Jack don’t! It’s not worth it!”
“Course it’s bloody worth it! This mutinous bastard has stolen MY ship twice! It’s more than worth it t’ shoot him!”
“Jack please…don’t do something you’ll regret later.”
Barbossa spoke up making Jack’s hold on his pistol tighten again.
“Listen t’ the girl Jack.”
“Shut it! All of ye! Lizbeth…go back t’ the cabin love…this doesn’t concern ye.”
“Don’t order me around like I’m a child Jack Sparrow! Put your pistol down and walk away!”
“Jus’ one shot an’ I’ll be rid of him…it’s that easy love…don’t ye see?”
“No Jack…it’s not that easy. Be the better man…walk away.”
He glanced at her as she looked up at him with wide pleading tea colored eyes. Feeling her hand grasp his forearm softly he sighed heavily. Finally lowering his pistol he shoved it back into his breeches making Barbossa let out the breath he had been holding.
“There…was that so hard?”
“Damn near impossible darling.”
“I’m proud of you Jack.”
“Wonderful…what kind of reward do I get for being a good boy then?”
Her cheeks reddened as her eyes fell to the deck of the ship quickly. Jack grinned impishly at her embarrassment as he took her hand in his and led her over to the railing forgetting about Barbossa for the time being.
“Oh…well then I’ll take yer silence as a sign that it’s a private matter.”
“Jack!”
“What? Anyway…we make port in Singapore in an hour darling.”
“And then I’ll finally get to know why you brought me here?”
“Yes love…ye’ll finally get t’ know.”
Barbossa scowled at Jack’s back as he stood there watching him with Elizabeth. Jack was a damn fool for counting on that witch of his to help Elizabeth get over the pain of losing Will. And Elizabeth was going to be the one who paid the price for his foolishness. Shaking his head he stormed down to his hammock below decks. He couldn’t stand being in Jack’s presence another moment without giving in to the urge to shoot him. Barbossa covered his face with his hat as he shut his eyes. He just knew that this fool’s journey to Singapore was not going to have the happy ending that Jack was hoping for. And it was going to completely destroy him when he finally realized that Elizabeth wasn’t going to recover from losing Will.
